As if people are entitled to not have anything wrong and unexpected ever happen to them and deserve compensation when it does. Shit happens and it happens to everyone.

Shit happens and it happens to everyone. Is this also "shit happens"? I understand it's an accident on a larger scale, but when a thing which isn't your property hits you or causes damage, then "shit happens" isn't good enough. In other words, if it was your fault or responsibility, then yes, "shit happens". Otherwise, no.

But it didn't cause damage, whereas the ferry incident caused multiple deaths and has layer upon layer of incompetence and misconduct as factors. If Gumiho had been injured in any way, permanently unable to play or at least hospitalized, then compensation would have been on the table. But nothing happened. Comparing it to the ferry incident is very stupid.

Otherwise, no. this comparison is so absurd it borders on offensive. that's a situation where people are being investigated for gross and premeditated negligence that caused the loss of a fucking boat and hundreds of lives. this is a portable wall falling over during a computer game tournament. here's the reason he can't and shouldn't sue, and this should end this ridiculous argument: suing for negligence in this case assumes that the studio didn't fulfill their safety responsibilities, and there's no evidence that this is the case. it's 100% possible to fulfill the minimum safety standards and for something bad to still happen. this is called margin of error. it's the same reason there's a codified amount of insect parts and rat feces that can be present in the food you buy: because it's literally impossible to uphold "perfect" safety and still run a fiscally viable business ok? are we done with this argument now?

Only in America, where we don't have universal health care. You've got it back to front, my good lad. Maybe the attitude though, not gonna argue that.
