SKT_PartinG won with the Nestea Award for participating in ten consecutive GSL Code S tournaments, becoming just the fourth player to achieve the feat. PartinG began his streak of consecutive appearances in Code S Season 1 of 2012, after which he has never dropped out of Code S. He was presented with the trophy on Friday night, prior to his Ro32 group in 2014 Code S Season 2.
In Season 3 of 2012, Nestea became the first player to reach ten consecutive Code S appearances, and the Nestea Award was created in his honor. Since then, Mvp and DongRaeGu have also won the award. PartinG is notable in being only Nestea Award winner who has not won a Code S championship during his run.
PartinG displayed his usual panache during the presentation, saying he would aim to reach twenty consecutive Code S appearances and create the new "PartinG Award."
The award also figured immediately into PartinG's famed ceremonies, as he polished the trophy and gave it a kiss after he advanced from his group with a perfect 4-0 record.

Funny to think that NesTea caused the award to be made already back in 2012. PartinG first gets it now, in the middle of 2014.

Parting has this season. I can feel it!

Wasn't there something like 10 GSL's in 2011?
|
Yeah and also for a time they alternated between GSL and OSL so there were half as many GSLs for him to play in.

Maybe that it was quite hard to get 10 GSL appearance when there wasn't even 10 GSLs ?

Funny that a guy made famous for his timings and ballsy plays managed to also win an award for consistency.
|
Who are the three players before him, Nestea, Mvp and DRG?
|
I hope PartinG gets his GSL this year, along with the WCS win, this guy is on fire recently!

I think he took a third in the first game against Byul on Frost, while immediately going for gateway pushed against Byul's third

Congrats to him! Finally, a Protoss!

Congrats to parting, well deserved!

poor Supernova, having to see that trophy. But congrats Parting.

I feel they should get the actual Nestea company to sponsor this award.
Seems like a no-brainer.

About time a Protoss won the award~

Congrats, Parting. You are truly one of the great Protoss

Congrats to Parting. Obviously not an easy award to get.

Wait, isn't SuperNova also getting it this season? or is that next season?
EDIT; Never mind, Liquipedia is wayyy outdated for the Code S streaks page.

Yes, if for a time means exactly one OSL

Well deserved, sad he didn't take that GSL, especially when he had that really enjoyable Templar-spreading PvT.
Now he's like MC on crack with his style :p

That award is just so impressive to me! Being so consistent in SC2 over such a long period of time is so admirable!

Rooting for Symbol next. Amazed at Parting getting this finally, really shows how the frequency of GSL tournaments have changed since 2011.

Didn't realise Symbol was that close, wonder how much more he has to do to be considered a good player :p

You mean Coke? They did sponsor GSL for a season or two I think. Then again so did Pepsi <_<

Yehh very nice award, GJ Parting
|
Nice.. He has a very gimmicky playstyle, but he did it anyway, really cool to see people with every kind of caliber of play get that reward
Gratz :D

I guess having better micro than just about everyone else is gimmicky. Parting performs well executed timing attacks as well as strong macro oriented builds from what I've seen of him, which is a lot.

Funny, when you think that still in this day and age it's pretty rare to see mainstream companies not affiliated with media and electronics to get into e-sports.
Choo choo! gg no re

You gotta it to him. Parting is pretty damn solid at this game x)
|
Congrats to PartinG, he has been around a longggg time.

I feel like the new format makes these harder to get. It'll be what, 2016, 2017 before someone who is just now entering Code S has the chance to achieve this feat? Still impressive to be so good for so long. SOUL!

When there is a Code S season every month to two months the 10th time qualifying tends to come a lot faster, and if you're at the top of the game in that period it's only natural you will keep qualifying.
Parting has been a Code S contender since 2012, and as the competition has gotten insanely harder (as well as fewer Code S tournaments every year), he has managed to stay on top.
Not shitting on what Nestea has done, the man won a Code S championship without dropping a map and made it into 10 in a row, but almost objectively speaking, Partings Nestea award was harder fought than his. He had to go through the KeSPA transition, and the HoTS transition, and all that with fewer tournaments.
tl;dr: Parting is a fucking God of SC2.

That makes a lot of sense, but it's not really a secret and a reason why sometimes "wellness" "greatness" and other such nouns should mainly be taked aout in the context of times, cause without that, the newer great player is always beter that the older one even due to games and strategy's natural evoltion. Tl;dr You are 100% right, just my two cents

BECAUSE he has better micro, he needs less forcefields/units etc. which allows him to hit earlier and still win. But because of this, he has to micro his ass off. So he's seen as a gimmicky player.
But as appearing in 10 consecutive GSLs obviously shows, he's also quite consistent(ly amazing).
