After a glorious time on EG, Stephano has decided to join the hypest, craziest team of all: MELTDOWN!
I hear you say: Meltdown? Isn’t that, like, a bar or something? Damn right it is: for two years we’ve been spreading eSports fun all across Europe with our bars in Paris, Berlin and London (not to mention our franchise program you may want to take a look at)!
And today we are proud to announce the formation of our own eSports team! Why is it twice the fun? ‘Cause you won’t only be able to watch your favourite players on their stream, you’ll have a place to meet them, share drinks, tips and more!
Stephano is the undisputed Zerg prodigy, the adorable brat, the party animal we all cheer for, and for many foreigners the only hope against mighty Korea. Retired, you say? I think not! Not only will we support him for all major tournaments, but we’re also proud to present you with Stephano Show! Once a month, Stephano will host his very own party at a Meltdown bar, offering live coaching, challenges, analysis and much more!
I can’t begin to tell you how excited we are about all this. Welcome [MD]Stephano!

Stephano back at "all major tournaments" ? I like the sound of that!
|
|
stephano being sponsored by a bar doesn't surprise me
|
damn it looks like I need to move
|
announcement doesn't assess the most important point: is stephano back full time or is this all just for fun?
|
|
|
Is he gonna get paid with alcohol ?

He's back to get drunk. Fully drunk, not part time drunk of course.
|
Very nice!!! Looking forward to see that show :D
|
Word! Hopefully EG can buy some new players now, legitimate them as a team again
|
|
This is pretty sick ! Great news !

Also MeltdownStephano sounds a bit weird.

If he is sponsored by a bar it is pretty sure he will not get seriously back into the game. Anyway this bar is awesome, Stephano is awesome -> Meltdown Stephano is awesome

Glad to see that Stephano is moving up to the big leagues in the drinking industry. I always thought he had potential after that night in Sweden.

Yeah. I was like wtf when he "came back" and was still on EG.
Cool for Stephano though. Best of luck to him and the new team!

This is the jolt of life the SC2 scene needed!

This news is really funny and very refreshing. Of course I'd have loved to see Stephano coming back to Millenium but at least it's a french organization.

Saw this coming as soon as the announcement of his retirement was announced, although I didn't predict it to happen in such a cool way. This is great from Meltdown.

What's he going to coach, how to beat people by boring them to death with SH turtle?

Its quite shocking to me that EG let him go. I mean Stephano is one of the scenes most marketable players.

well, there facebook page getting lots of hits. I didn't think e-sports bars were profitable, especially to support a team. Interesting...

But he is not. Or is he? It gets confusing when others inform again and again that he is not but still it gets repeated over and over that he is.

This is really bad for Stephano. While on EG, he had to drink Monster after every game. If he has to drink cocktails after every game he will not go far in future tournaments.

That was probably water in a Monster can. Granted, it may have really been a Monster, but they also produce "Stage Water" that's just water.

The statement from EG was a lot more interesting and maybe should have been included and not just linked to. Don't think a lot of people noticed it in the link.
Found the last part very interesting.
As far as EG's future with Stephano and StarCraft 2, we're keeping the book open. While there are a lot of exciting things going on in eSports right now, we have not lost our focus on StarCraft 2. It remains one of our pillars, especially as we get closer and closer to Legacy of the Void. And as for Ilyes specifically, we'd love to work with him again in the future if the opportunity comes up.
They drop one player that was supposed to retire last fall and are focusing on telling that they are not leaving SC2 and it remains a focus. Sounds like theres more people getting released soon.
|

JYP might also go that way since he's out of WCS once again, which is a pity since he seemed to be on the up at the end of 2013. He also said that they might stop playing in team leagues after ATC (which is silly because they still have one of the largest rosters out of all the foreign teams).

This is great news indeed, but didn't he announce publicly that he retired from SC2? Cmon now.....I guess every individual is different but I guess he could have some dignity you know? If you retire, you retire, full stop. I get the feeling he only announced that retirement to gain attention...
If I was a pro player I could also make that cheap move. Announce retirement, gain attention, and a while later come back to gaming because in my heart I have always planned to make a comeback, and that the "retirement" was only to gain attention.
Don't get me wrong, I'm no Stephano hater or anything, but really, if you say you retire, then stop playing?

There's an easy way and a hard way to get that MD after your name. Can't fault him for going the easy way. Nah man, this was the hard way. How many doctors are there? I don't know but I bet that they are very many in numbers. How many MeltDowners are there? Yeah. Easy for Stephano.

One does not simply retire! Also another good reason to visit Paris. Yet, who'll lure us to Berlin & London?

Stephano vs Jeysen rematch!!!!

Anyways, congratulations to Stephano and Meltdown!

Wow, pretty cool. Glad to see new teams forming and new opportunities for players. Wish we had more of this in the US.

haha agreed, especially since he've been told repeatedly by now that he isn't becomming a doctor after all.

It's mainly marketing. I highly doubt EG will invest anything into SC2 in the next year or so. They just bought a very expensive Call of Duty team, they bought a very good street fighter player and a Smash Bros player, they're expanding elsewhere and it's understandable.
Who else would you need beside Jaedong for Starcraft anyway.

Now Stephano can get all the alcohol he wants

So i guess Stephano is moving to Paris ? What's up with university ?

It's easy from anywhere in France to go once a month to Paris for a reasonable amount of money, so I don't think he has to move there.

He's gonna live near UCL, a university in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. About 400km from Paris.

So sad to see EG lose another legendary foreigner

How does a semi-retired player switch teams? I'm so confused.

Incontrol said on Reddit that Thorzain is basically retired...he didn't even play in all of the WCS EU qualifiers, so wouldn't be surprised if they let him and Machine go. JYP might also go that way since he's out of WCS once again, which is a pity since he seemed to be on the up at the end of 2013. He also said that they might stop playing in team leagues after ATC (which is silly because they still have one of the largest rosters out of all the foreign teams). I thought Machine retired a while back.

On Caledonian Road. Definitely come by, it's a very nice place.

Stephano sponsored by a bar, I guess it doesn't shock me at all.
|
Talking about a perfect fit..
Also - that bar/club manager/owner seems well fitting
(makes me wish I knew French really, so I could understand/see )

Didn't he quit to become a doctor? What's going on with Stephano? I've been out of the loop lately .
