I will be watching safely at home for that one.
I will be attending the DC one for sure and maybe the atlanta one
You're right, Detroit is literally a war zone and there is nowhere in the city that is safe from the bloodbath.
If this is sarcasm you screwed up by saying things that are actually true
"I read somewhere that Detroit is a violent city so naturally I am going to take that to the extreme and assume that if you step foot inside the city limits you are going to die". Seriously what an idiotic thing to say.
I'm glad they are going to new cities. Gives new people a better chance of going to the events. Too bad Philadelphia got beat out by D.C., Altanta, and Detroit but hopefully next year!
Have you lived in Detroit? Have you seen a 911 call take 2 and a half hours to be answered? Have you seen someone get beaten to death in front of your apartment? How about you go and live there for a few months and see the decaying ruins of civilization that is Detroit Michigan.

I've been there and yes it is a bad city. But here's the thing: that will not affect this eSports event which I am sure is going to be located somewhere that isn't going to be a problem. 2k per 100k residents are affected by a violent crime annually and while that is horrifically higher than the national average, it doesn't mean we are going to be reading the headline, "8 SC2 players and 4 casters die trying to hold eSports event in Detroit".
Also I live in North Philadelphia and I am often in Camden (right across the river) so I know a little about violent cities.

Omg. So I guess there will be mostly watching hardcore fans from the US, where soccer is not that known.
Other than that: Great news! Very happy to see RB so involved with SC2.

I used to live right near Detroit. I've been in the city on numerous occasions. Unless some sixth sense shit is going on I made it out every time with my life. You clearly have stereotyped Detroit and refuse to accept that all cities have crime and poverty. The event will go off without a hitch
Everybody in this thread must be confusing Detroit with Flint. Downtown Flint is one of the biggest hells on earth, Detroit isn't that bad.
Detroit is only about 3 hours away from me...I might actually have to go to that.
I also wonder if Red Bull is going to do another map contest, I mean...Hab Stat was born thanks to Red Bull! Would be awesome to see another great map because Red Bull has the balls to try these things out! :D
