Battle Grounds returns with three big StarCraft events in Detroit, Atlanta and Washington D.C.
Battle Grounds is back and better than ever.
Red Bull eSports is launching a full tour of professional StarCraft II events that will hit three different historic cities. The tour begins with Red Bull Battle Grounds events in Atlanta and Detroit, followed by the Battle Grounds Grand Finals at our nation’s capital Washington D.C. from September 20th – 21st.
WCS Points
This year, Battle Grounds packs even more punch because it’s linked to Blizzard's WCS, meaning that competitors at Red Bull Battle Grounds 2014 events will battle not only for prestige and prize money, but WCS points used to determine who will compete in the WCS Global Finals at BlizzCon 2014.
Open Format Qualifying
Coming off last November’s Red Bull Battle Grounds championship in New York City, won in thrilling fashion by Won "PartinG" Lee Sak, this year’s circuit rewrites the Red Bull Battle Grounds playbook, introducing open format registration for the Atlanta and Detroit events. Up-and-coming hopefuls will have their shot to compete alongside the pros, and earn their spot in the ultimate showdown in DC this September.
The first event kicks off in Atlanta, Georgia from July 11th – 13th, with online registration for the event opening in the summer. The tour continues with a stop in Motor City, USA – Detroit, Michigan –from August 22nd – 24th.
Grand Finals
The five top players from the Battle Grounds event series will join one wild card qualifier and the top two finishers from 2013, PartinG and sOs, for the Grand Final in Washington, DC on September 20th – 21st. Every moment of the three city tour will be live streamed so that fans around the world can tune-in.
Details surrounding registration and formats for Red Bull Battle Grounds Atlanta and Red Bull Battle Grounds Detroit, as well as how to attend live and watch the stream of the events will be revealed in the coming weeks.
