Details for GOM eXP's 2014 international tournament have been announced. The '2014 GSL Global Tournament' will be held between April 24-26 from GOM eXP's studio in Korea.

Dear GOM eXP users,

New Global Tournament, 2014 GSL Global Tournament, is coming soon! The strongest players from GSL, WCS EU, WCS NA will participate in GSL Global Tournament and have big matches for the best player title.

This is a summary of 2014 GSL Global Tournament.

Players
- Two Top Players of 2014 GSL Season 1
- Two Top Players of 2014 WCS AM Season 1
- Two Top Players of 2014 WCS EU Season 1
- Ten players from Global Qualifier (will begin on April 7th. more details to be announced)

Tournament Format

Broadcast Schedule
- Ro.16

Online league
Schedule : 19th, 20th of April

- Ro.8 ~ Final

Offline league in Gangnam GOM eXP Studio
Schedule : 24th, 25th, 26th of April

Prize and WCS Point
$ 10,000 for Basic Prize and additional prize with 10% of GSL annual ticket sales (up to April 5th)
- 18,247 USD currently (http://www.gomexp.com/gsl)
- 1,800 WCS points (1st player 300, 2nd player 200 etc)

Prize split
- 1st place: 40% of total prize pool
- 2nd place: 20% of total prize pool
- Top 4: 10% each
- Top 8: 5% each

So it's like a small Season Finals with additional qualifiers... cool! Level of play should be really high in this.

Oh, snap. I like how it's now a 16-person field and will now have a global qualifier so that it can potentially be like a 2011 GSL. This ought to be special.

Any korean tournament with open qualifiers should be the absolute stacked tournament, absolutely loving it! I really wish there were more open qualifier tournaments like this for koreans so we get a chance to see who the best are at the moment. GSL can be deceiving because of how much you have to go through to get Code S, so if you are the best right now it might take a while to get there. Good shit.

well it's not announced as to whether it will be region locked qualifiers or open qualifiers

I imagine they're going to want at least some region locked spots to guarantee some foreign representation

to be honest, the way WCS is shaping up now, I think they might have to completely region lock the qualifiers if they want ANY non-korean players in the live Ro8
