Maru has struggled in a lot of qualifiers but it would really suck if he didn't make it into this imo

well it's not announced as to whether it will be region locked qualifiers or open qualifiers

I imagine they're going to want at least some region locked spots to guarantee some foreign representation

to be honest, the way WCS is shaping up now, I think they might have to completely region lock the qualifiers if they want ANY non-korean players in the live Ro8

this so much!
I hope they thought this far ahead while hammering out the details because if this "global" tournament only has korean participation (no matter how fair and square the qualification process was) then the viewership will decrease drastically and they might as well not have put in so much effort.

Does anyone know where I can watch the Code S Round of 8 Day 2 spoiler free? The actual topic itself doesn't post any links (which I personally think is very irresponsible). Thank you.

I think WCS EU has a chance of sending non Koreans. I expect 7/8 to be Korean though.

Only 2 out of 10 qualified players make the Ro8, to guarantee a non-Korean they'd need to reserve 9 out of 10 qualifier spots for foreigners.

i hope flash, jaedong and mvp join. i want to see more games from them and games against each other.

btw is this before or after the wcs finals? if it's before then the players have to use their strats for their wcs final and if after the wcs championship doesn't last like season finals?
hey man just curious

Also note the prize is already up to $18,405 and if it reaches $25,000 it will reach the next tier of WCS points as well

I'm interested to see how they shape up these qualifiers to get the foreign representation that they want.

I bet they are willing to do things like direct seeds, similar to the past (HuK, Naniwa, Stephano).

how is 10 players a round of 16. did i miss something?

also, the winners of the global qualifiers will have 3 days to make travel arrangements (tickets, visa, etc.) and to actually travel to korea (provided they don't live there)...

EDIT: sorry didn't see that:

i'd rather watch top Koreans play than another foreigner get humiliated

I'm honestly not sure how good region locking will be for this event... I'm super skeptical that a foreigner will have a chance to advance to the Ro8 if they couldn't make it in an Open Quali. Also, I feel like people will feel that certain koreans will have a much easier time getting to Ro8 if they get to face a foreigner, making it seem as if they got there unfairly.

Don't get me wrong, I'm usually for region locking (I think the region locking changes made to WCS this year were good, they possibly could have done even more region locking) I just don't think they should do it at the very very top levels of competition.
