Back in 2011 we did something quite special on Liquipedia, we hosted a bracket contest for the TSL 3. It was fraught with problems on the technical side, for example the code to run it crashed the wiki, and when people wanted to check their standings the site became unresponsive too. However we got to the end and HenL won it by correctly predicting the correct top 4 and their final positions! Since then we’ve done a lot of improvements to the site, so no more crashes from high load. And we’ve also now completed a tool to help us manage this type of bracket contest.
WCS 2014 Season 1 Bracket Contest
So we once again want to invite you to join in the fun, and this time it is for WCS Season 1. All three regions at once! From the quarter finals and forwards. (When the brackets are fixed.) Or almost at once. They will have different deadlines for when you can last submit or edit them. You may of course just participate in one of them, but for this contest we will use all three, so you should really do all three. The deadlines are:
GSL 2014 Season 1 is Tuesday, Mar 18 10:59pm GMT (GMT+00:00)SUBMISSIONS ENDED!
WCS America Season 1 is Thursday, Apr 10 5:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00)SUBMISSIONS ENDED!
WCS Europe Season 1 is Thursday, Apr 10 5:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00)SUBMISSIONS ENDED!
How to Participate!
To make your prediction follow our guide. You can correct any mistakes you’ve made up until the deadline.
Winner!
The winner will be the person who has gotten the most amount of points from all three tournaments combined. You get points by guessing/predicting the correct winner, and then there are bonus points if you also get the correct score.
First place prize!
Internet fame!
A signed Liquid Team jersey from the player of the winner's choosing. (That is any current Liquid player, either SC2 or Dota 2)
Forum award.
Point structure
Predicting the right winner in the quarter finals will give you 2 points, in the semi finals 4 points and the grand finals 8 points. Predicting the correct score of a best of 5 will give you 1 point and a best of seven 2 points. This means the highest possible score is 96.

Yeah you saved it to the wiki and that's all there is to the GSL one. And then you have to guess the WCS AM and EU ones too when those are brackets are finalized just like you did this one.

herO crushing those so called 'best p in the world' to settle his dominance of the last few months, guy has been the most impressive with his ability to read games and play accordingly.
well he actually has a good shot, already beat parting last time, his ro4 opponent won't be better than him (i'd favored him in both cases tbh) and then a 10h long final and bim you got it.

My heart will be broken anyway :D So, no big deal. Curse is too strong anyway.

Dude, you the exact same prediction as I have, awesome, at least im not the inly one who thinks that there will be a SKt best toss final with Rain coming on the top

You know, what is real problem? PartinG never won bo5 PvZ in HotS against Koreans.

this actually really fun! ive never done anything coding wise, and its cool to be able to make brackets about something i care about! awesome job, and gl to everyone!
Seems to me everyone is underestimating Zest, he will go far at least pass sos. Its too bad the two strongest candidates to win this in my opinion, Maru and Life meet in the first game. I've tossed my coin for Maru, no matter what happens I'm sure whoever gets out on top of Life vs Maru will win this! The two players that could throw a wrench in that would be Rain or possibly Zest but I think it unlikely.

To me it's a bit more about "can Maru beat Life", as he hasn't impressed me that much in that match-up. Still, a very very very hard call for me
helps, its telling me that my prediction page that I did for the WCS bracket is "This article has been requested to be deleted because someone made it by mistake and is now able to cause confusion.. Help us by revising it. " what do I do?
Just thought I'd let people know, the odds of getting this all right are exceptionally low. If this was an accumulator a £1 stake would earn you something like £20,000, making the prize the most valuable TL jersey ever
I did fairly well with the WCS world finals bracket until the semis, will definitely be giving this a go.

The good thing is that you don't have to get everything right. You just have to do better than the other people participating.

Honestly you guys are crazy if you don't think herO has a free ride to the Grand Finals. His PvP is out of this world. I'm also being kind of a Maru fanboy here because my head is telling me herO will win it all, but I'm giving it to Maru 4-3 in one of the best GSLs ever!

i don't understand this math at all.
there's 4 quarter finals. 4x2=8. there's 2 semi finals. 2x4=8. we are now at 16. there's 1 finals. 1x8=8. we are now at 24. there's 6 bo5s. 6x1=6. we are now at 30. there's 1 bo7. 2x2=2. we are now at 32.
can someone please tell me where i'm messing up? i'm bad at maths but i don't think i'm THAT off.
Wow, I was at first a bit turned off when I clicked on the guide, but I was very pleasantly surprised how easy it was once I finally decided to start. Thanks for organizing this. I can't get enough prediction games to keep me up
Thanks for participating! There will be reminder for everyone when the brackets for Europe and America are available! There won't be much time for America since the round of 16 will end on April 6 and the playoffs will start on April 10, so keep that in mind.
After IEM I thought about changing my brackets as I had both Zest > sOs and Rain > herO. Glad I decided to keep it and hope for the best, although I wish sOs would have taken 1 game so I could have gotten the score right.

Hey man, at least it means that your FPL team isn't all THAT bad.
Hmmm? What does that mean? O.o
Ah sorry man, was just a poke at you for being so down when your FPL team didn't have the best of starts - cause with your GSL predictions now being pretty much over already with you having sOs going all the way you shouldn't be so down about your FPL at all! So leave this part of the competition behind and ace the NA and EU part, more of us are going to have to do the same in a match/round or two. Had herO myself winning 3-2 instead of Rain so was real excited for that last map but alas, so much for that.
If you can't find yourself on that list and you are sure you submitted before the deadline (Tuesday, Mar 18 10:59pm GMT (GMT+00:00)), please contact me. Contact me also if you think you have fewer points than you should have (please double check). In both cases there are probably some problems with your bracket (i.e. not filled out correctly) that I may be willing to fix for you (i.e if the intention of your initial submission is clear and it's just a syntax/formal error).

Ah. Well, I'm very nearly in the top half of FPL now

if you ace America&Europe i reckon you'll have a shot at it shame i got these two wrong, was off to a good start on day 1 (5points)
This is hard to call. Vortix will probably make it to the finals. I guess it pretty much depends on Welmu vs San. If Welmu can't beat San, I think San is going to take it. Though if he beats him, it should be Snute taking the championship. I expect him to beat MMA and he shouldn't have any problems with Welmu. And Vortix' ZvZ has been really lackluster.
So my call is either Snute or San winning the tournament.

Contest for the WCS AM bracket is now open! Follow the guide (updated with the code for WCS AM)
EDIT: And don't forget, the WCS EU bracket contest is still open as well The deadlines is the same for both contests: Wednesday, Apr 09 9:59pm GMT (GMT+00:00)
so overpowered, literally broodlord-infestor. The only thing that can stop them is the race that got the upgraded version of broodlord-infestor (swarmhost-infestor-viper)
2 Zerg champions to take EU and NA. Well I bet on Maru in Code S so I need to make bold moves to get myself back into the race for the signed jersey =D
Chances are dim, with Zest screwing my predictions up, thought sOs would win that quarterfinals, even though I did predict Zest to beat Rain and SoO in liquibets.
So does the script used for parsing these just scan all pages containing "2014_WCS_Season_1_Contest/" automatically or do you have to sign up explicitly to enter the contest?
It looks for all pages with a certain "category" which gets added automatically by the code you use. So yeah just make the page(s) and a complete bracket (or two) and you're in.
Interesting that you would pick Vortix to do so well, could definitely happen.
I really think he has the potential. Seeing him in the finals is maybe a bit too much, but I think it'll come down to handling the pressure. Skill-wise, I can trust him (and he's even beaten MMA and jjakji already), but I don't know what could happen when the pressure is really on.

I think it comes down to whether or not he can beat jjakji. If he does, StarDust should be less of a challenge than jjakji, and MC somewhere in the middle (although this he is slightly less relevant given his chances vs StarDust).

We probably will do this for live update/preliminary results yeah. Although that will of course bring in the possibility of seeing the wrong points, if it's entered wrongly.
Feel free to bring us feedback whenever you have it. And a lot of the things to make this better can be done by you guys too if you want to (since the wiki is open to edit by anyone)
Gahhhh 2nd place D: I have a question, if HyuN beats Oz 4-2 but I chose Polt to be the guy he was playing do I still get full points ofr score prediction?
No, you will only get the 8 points for the correct winner. You get points for a predicted score only if you predict the correct score, winner and loser.

Ugh, man...I was tied for 2nd in WCS America all weekend and it was so painful knowing I had no chance of winning since Polt, my winner, went out in round 1. Those final rounds =[
