Damn, the Koreans are always so lucky with the groups in WCS EU. They really couldn't complain about getting a group with 3 Koreans, since several of them only finished 2nd in the round of 32. But once again they don't get punished for it.

They are punished by getting paired with top finisher of each group, who is evidently stronger by placing higher. You only have problems with nationality right?

Is it just me or does this crop of players look a bit underwhelming... so many upsets early on that I feel this ro16 could've been so much better. Also, the racial distribution between groups is kind of disappointing. PvT has been awesome to watch recently with the mine buff and less all-ins, so I was looking forward to some epic PvT matchups, but guna have to wait for ro8 I guess.

As far as the groups go, poor Bunny was rooting for him to advance but man is it going to be tough now. If he can play some killer TvT I could see him having a chance against mvp, and if MMA pulls one of his "i'm going to suck for no apparent reason" then maybe he will get lucky.

There are things known, and things unknown, and in-between are the doors.

Exactly, this poster is right.

When you talk about a group of death, it really should be something special.

Life, Innovation, Parting and Flash was a group of death, because these were all obscenely skilled players

In Brood War, there was once a group comprised of Jaedong, Bisu, Flash and Sea. Now that is a fucking group of death

People throw around the term quite loosely, and it really cheapens the value. In Group A, we have Mvp and MMA, who are two of the most accomplished players in SC2. But they are only 50% of the group. Then we have Vortix who is just a good foreigner, and Bunny, who is relatively unaccomplished.

It's more like Half of a Group of Death. Now if you threw Jjakji and MC into that group as well, then you got yourself a Group of Death.

From the depths of my heart I want this to happen:
A: Mvp and Bunny
B: Jjakji and Snute (Sorry Grubby)
C: BabyKnight and TLO
D: MC and Bling
There's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep trying till you run out of cake.

You got this mvp! i would like to say MMA as well but id rather see him go in the Ro16 so mvp won't have to face him again later.

pretty good for TLO, Nerchio and Vortix. they all only have to practise one matchup

I don't think that Nerchio getting a Korean PvZ specialist in San and on top of that MC who's likely to do some unstoppable all-in good for Nerchio at all. ZvP is his weakest match by far as well.

Maybe instead of a Group of Death poll the question should be something like "which group are you most looking forward to". I realize that's not asking exactly the same thing, though. The No Group of Death option is definitely good one to have.

i think groups are sorted by ,nationality / team and race (not sure which order). Of course spreading out the koreans would make most sense so each of them has higher chance to go ro8

Or maybe they are random? With only 6 koreans in Ro16, it isn't that surprise to not have a 3 KR group...

So how did it go again? MMA > MKP > MVP or something of that sort?

MMA > MVP and MVP > MKP, not sure how MKP vs MMA goes.

Sure the mma mvp factor is awesome, but realistically mc and san are a lot stronger at the moment. With nerchio that's the real group of death.

The old triangle of 2011 was Mvp>Polt>MMA>Mvp. Mvp>>>>>>>>>MKP was separate but also true.

Mvp and MMA in the same group! Really hope they get to play each other, but that both manage to get out of the group too.
