TH000 is also the one who broke Moon's dream of getting his WCG champion last year. There will be an aftershow (talk??) between the players to talk about their career etcetc
Esports is losing a legend here. Moon managed in the end to keep up with the very top players of the world. Warcraft 3 was much more his game than Starcraft 2, even though he was able to claim a few top placements in some tournaments in 2011/2012. Good bye Jang Jae-Ho
He could've still play sc2 and be at the very top, cause we do remember he was rly good even in starcraft, sad that such players are retiring, gonna miss him!
One of the top 10 if not top 5 progamers of all time. You'll be remembered for your greatness!!
Jang Jae Ho!!
Too bad, I was hoping for some breaking news that he'd started playing sc2 again, but it's better to remember him as the 5th race instead of just another Zerg player.
Fuck. Hurts so much. Almost 12 long years as a proud Moon fan. I knew it was coming, but knowing for sure it's over makes me feel empty inside. He may not have won that WCG medal but for me he is still definitively the greatest of all WC3 players. So much inspiration I've gotten from his wicked plays and sinister tactics.
Thanks for the plays in and outside the game(s), Jang Jae Ho. I will never forget the few times I met you offline and I will always treasure my signed MYM jersey.
Oh man, I didnt follow the WC3 and I heard of moon, he is legendary. Hopefully he will come back after the military service! Good luck to him at whatever he wish to do.
Farewell to the Fantasista Wc3 ends long long ago for me but it's still sad to see the word retirement
Figuring Check might also enlist soon, I hope he would get some mention too. The legacy & devotion for wc3 and esport of the Fever Blood are as respectable as Moon's
Moon did have some nice moves back in the day, but he fell of the grid some time ago. Its understadable, probably looking for something better in his life. Good luck to another player of our great comunity!
Jang Jae Ho, the fith race, the wc3 legend. Good luck in the future! He provided the most epic games I've ever seen, glad he won his last tournament and you never know, he might try to compete in some korean tournaments even during military.
One of the greatest of all time. An inspiration to all WC3 Night Elf payers like i was, i won so many games thanks to his creativity, and was in awe so many times for many times watching his play.
I hope the even will be restreamed on twitch or that at least VODs will be around.

So fucking jelly of having one of his jersey signed O_O LUCKY BOY
Ace vs Moon at IEM Championships back in 2011(?) was the event that really got me into watching StarCraft as a sport and motivated me to learn how to actually play the game at a higher level (bronze to diamond).
Even though he never had any high level GSL type success his builds were unique and his games in my opinion were the most fun of any Zerg at the time to watch.
I've been hoping that he will come back at some point and join some big team but looks like he won't. Not too surprised but still really sad. Also, here's a little teaser video of that event if OP wants to add it to the main post.
Probably my favorite player of any RTS =\. Still felt he could have been amazing at SC2 if he went all in. I stole so many of his builds whenever I rolled NE.
Always loved watching Moon play SC2, not sure why. I didn't watch his WC3 games, since i never played WC myself. I read a bit about him on Liquipedia though and was impressed with his results (as well as Grubby's) in WC3.
I remember watching him since he first won (as Moon[FaiRs]) in the first MBC Prime League. From there, he became a legend by being one of the most succesful, innovative and dominant programers of all history.
Aww, as an old school orc player I used to hate moon. Through the years I've watched him play hard and give it his all. The guy is an inspiration to us all and it's sad he's leaving. From war3 to sc he's always been a strong competitor. I'll hate to see him leave, :-(
Ill never forget the grand finals match against st_ace when the crowd gave away every brilliant moon play. I was devastated. Good luck fifth race! Spirit_moon #1
EDIT: what could I possibly have meant to get a warning? Mod broke my heart...I even added a "there" in there after initial post to avoid misunderstanding.
I wish him the best of luck, Honestly one of the best guys I have had the pleasure of practicing with in Warcraft. Sad to see starcraft did not quite work out for him. Had he picked terran or protoss he could have been a lot stronger. Very mannered player, nice guy, and arguably the best micro out of any RTS player.

I agree. Maybe the mod is too sensitive. Anyway, Sky should attend the event too. Sky + Grubby + Moon Memory~
posts get reported and mods sometimes see them out of context and look at reason. Enough reports go in that the mods are busy and they make small mistakes. I also think he meant that grubby should try to attend if possible.
Sad for Moon though, I know he was still playing WC3 and the end of WCG probably made him decide it was time to move on.
SoJu/ReMi was arguably the strongest 2v2 combo in the world for a very long time. If i remember correctly they actually lost to Sky/infi dual human cheese in a WC3L finals in China. The top 2v2 teams around this time were SoJu/ReMi - Axslav/Strifecro - FoCuS/Shy - Grubby/Moon - LiilD.C/KnOfF etc...urgh the nostalgia. Really wish 2v2 had taken off in SC2, was a huge part of WC3 clanwars
Watched the latest WCG and really, really wanted Moon to win. I remember when i first got involved in eSports/followed the scene WCG was the shit, the #1 tourney of the year. Sad to see how it's fallen. Old school Moon destroying Orcs with zeppelin micro cancelling T2 tech with DH/BM and human fast expands is something that i'll never forget. Moon was god

Moon was gosu. Didn't he play 2s with remind?
Moon was rediculous. Great wc3 player.
Thats SoJu who formed the legendary 2v2 combo with ReMinD, the dude who seldom practice and won ESWC among other things.
I would love to see other great rivals in Moon's career like Zacard, FoV or ReMinD in this party. The two Chinese seems rather irrelevant
Considering Sky/Infi/TH000 were rivals to Moon for far longer than Zacard, i would hardly call them irrelevant. FoV and ReMi would be nice though, Lyn/FoCuS too. But they can't get everyone

Moon/Grubby was never a thing, they did play a few in WC3L but thats during the time when 2v2 quality was really going down
somehow you managed to forgot Moon/Lucifer the #1 2v2 in my heart. Grubby/ToD also carried 4K during their prime. These two and SoJu/ReMinD top the 2v2 ranking in my book. American 2v2 like Ax/Strife or LongWalk/kiwi were flashy but not solid enough. Chinese duos were just lame

GoStop and Susiria was the best 2v2 team for a long period as well, but that's even further back. I think Lucifer eventually replaced one of them, can't remember which one though. Anyway, they were always winning their 2v2s in wc3l.
The first "popular" 2v2 team was funnily enough Sjow and Delicato. They were known for only being good in 2v2, and not in 1v1. SaSE was originally known for his 2v2 play as well iirc.
Creolophus and Grubby was another great 2v2 pairing, afaik they were undefeated. They didn't play that much together though.
High diddle diddle, The Cat and the Fiddle, The Cow jump'd over the Moon, The little dog laugh'd to see such Craft, And the Dish ran away with the Spoon...
Wow thats actually sad. I remember when i was at IEM CeBit in Hannover, where he was in the finals against AcE. That was the first Starcraft 2 Match I've ever seen and it moved me to begin playing sc2 myself.

The Transatlantic Showdown 2v2 was great. Strife/Ax vs Moon/Luci in the finals, Grubby/ToD in 3rd. I agree with you, except I give Ax/Strife a little more credit. They had they best teamwork in the world when it came to 2v2. Obviously they weren't nearly as skilled as Moon or Luci on an individual level (let's be real, Moon/Luci is scary haha), but teamwork wise they were better. I think that is the only reason they were able to compete vs top tier teams, because not to bash Ax or Strife, both amazing guys, but they weren't much better than NA amateur scene level when it came to their 1v1.
One of the biggest legends in competitive gaming history. If only he had dedicated as much time into StarCraft 2, as he did during his prime-time in WC3, he could've potentially become one of the absolute best. Sick training-ethics, unbelievable micro and incredible decision-making. Unfortunately for the SC2-scene, the best - and last - generation of WC3-players (talking specifically about Chinese and Koreans) retired shortly before SC2.
Farewell, Moon. May your wife treat you as the living legend that you are!

he is retiring from progaming in general.
Ah okay. I figured it was mainly about SC2 since it was in this section.
Is this already over? lilsusie tweeted a pic two hours ago: stating: "At GOM studios with @mOOnGLaDeau and @ggCMonteCristo for the WarCraft 3 Moon Challenge! pic.twitter.com/A6OTNxaSzx"

MonteCristo tweeted this page as live stream: http://afreeca.com/afw3match But it seems to require a login with Afreeca to get access (not that I actually can read Korean).

Hey he made the finals of some pretty big tournaments like IEM world championships and dreamhack early on in SC2, not bad results for someone who played two games at once.

Yeah I really wouldn't say that he wasn't succesful. He got very far in many tournaments and even though he wasn't the best, he was still really really good.
Moon , the only nightelf I ever rooted for , even against human players ( except sky ).....he is the epitome of what a brilliant progamer is all about.

Grubby is all about sc2 now , plays wc3 occasionally on stream , he would get his ass kicked so hard by moon simply because he is out of shape in wc3.
edit : THAT COME BACK AGAINST CHECK WAS SICK !!!! :O , only moon can pull these kind of dirty tricks when he is behind like that <3 Moon !!!! , another thing.....that crowd :O
this makes me way more sad then it should, I remember the first game of esport I saw, it was Grubby vs Moon on Echo Isles... The memories... Moon was just so... Moon. He was unique.
