Former Brood War and SC2 progamer Boxer (Lim Yo Hwan) took second place at a February 19th Asian Poker Tour event in the Philippines. Boxer competed in the 6 Handed event with 144 other participants and won 208,800 PhP (approximately $4679 USD at the time of writing) for his second place finish. Boxer's wife Jessica (Kim Ga Yeon) finished 11th place in the same event.
In December of 2013, Boxer announced he was becoming the main model for Korean Poker site Fulpot Poker, as well as a professional poker player.

Wow. I was expecting Boxer to start out as some aggro-donk but I guess I was proven wrong or he had a lot of experience behind him in the past during his time on ACE or something. Good on him.

He was here? Damnit.
Wasnt he training to be a poker pro though? And from my experience, poker players arent that good here - we're probably too emotional to be good bluffers.

yeah sounds low so i guess the tournament wasn't sharky but still a good showing by BoXer (and Jessica !). Hopefully he will keep improving it would be great to see him achieve great public results in Poker.

My first Vegas tourney was at a daily at the Venetian, and it was 80-90 players and a $120 buy-in. I got first place for $3200, but the tournament was a joke. The final table had 2 regulars who weren't even that good, and the rest were tourists who played tight passive and played against the board. I'm guessing Boxer played a bunch of the dailies and finally placed high enough in one to report. The Venetian structure was good (play was 7.5 hours), but a lot of Asian countries have pitiful structures where edge from skill is strongly diminished. I doubt this tournament is a reflection of Boxer being a skilled player. Having said that, congrats Boxer =p
Btw, tourney is in the Philippines because Koreans can't gamble within their own country.
