Calling it now. Too obvious though. For instance in shows like survivor, the returning players almost never got voted off in the first round. It's a mentality of "Oh nobody will want them to win so we can vote them off later." Not to mention you can definitely tell how Korean culture was affecting the way the game was played. *minor spoilers about season 1*: For instance Kim Gura ran his own small alliance in the first few episodes, and was ruining the game plans of the majority, yet it appeared that opinion of him remained rather high. I found it odd that nobody ever seemed to resent him despite his very blatant style and there seemed to be some negative backlash towards yellow after he knocked him out. Players also showed a recurring very high level of respect towards one another, much higher than I expected. Despite what happened the previous week nobody seemed to really hold grudges and was generally polite and jovial from week to week. This is probably helped by the fact the show was only once a week, but still it blew me away.
well yeah and it is scripted you know^^ (i would guess )

shows like this make me happy that i'm korean =)

oh if it's scripted that's pretty lame. Guess I'm pretty naive xD

He also says the atmosphere while filming episode 5 was scary because Gura was actually angry when YellOw refused his offer. Though the producers did tell Cha Minsoo to stop giving away the answers, which is sort of scripting what he says .

Wow Lee Da Hye! I met her at the US Go congress in Seattle.

Hahahah I literally burst out laughing when I scrolled down to "Magician"
Also, it's pretty weird that they clearly declare a "leader" for their idol groups. Asian cultures are strange. (this from a guy who has lived and worked in China for a while and been to Korea a few times; it's great)

So I watched a few of the episodes. In the Open or Pass episode I did not get the explanation of how Yellow knew what cards were expressions and which ones were numbers. Any one care to explain?

Watching the first minute or two... It sounds/looks so much like Liar Game. Looks like it ripped alot off the live action tv show with the tacky entrance and cinematics/scenes.
Even the games are Liar-Gamey. Simple on the outside yet can be very complex on the inside.

back of all normal playing cards are even, uniform, designs that look the same when flipped vertically. the playing cards used in the game however were not; when flipped the shadow of the cube used for garnets are flipped as well, so u can tell which cards are upside down or not.
also, because the dealers dont "wash" the cards, meaning spread them out and mix them, instead they only do "riffle" and "overhand" shuffles (which keeps the cards in order vertically). so after they are shuffled, Yellow could stilld etermine which cards were the ones he kept upside down or up. i dont know if this was the intention of the producers accidentally buying improperly designed cards and jinho finding it out then taking advantage, or if it was done intentionally. either way it really was genius because none of the other players thought of that =D

wouldnt surprise me. you can tell the creator of the show is really into poker/gambling/broodwar/game threory so hes taken a lot of those concepts related to them and put it into the game. liar game isnt very old as well and its also very likely they took some ideas from other places too. everyone steals a bit from everyone!

I just saw Yellow's moment in the Open/Pass episode. It was so amazing, and the producers presented it in a way that reminded me of anime like Kaiji/Akagi (I have never heard of or seen Liar Game). I felt there are a steep drop off in quality/pacing after episode 2 but this was pretty good. I really did not like some of the death match games other than Indian Poker though. Felt they were too complicated/long and did not help to create the atmosphere where both players were fighting for their lives. I hope they step it up for season 2! And I would really like a copycat version here in the U.S. although it may get completely butchered. Great show.
