So much translation drama.

Does anyone know OGN's broadcast schedule? Will they rebroadcast WCS in Korean?
I promise not to make a tasteless joke.

Two separate issues here regarding the OGN broadcast. Dropping the english stream that has to compete with Tastosis does make sense but not having the Korean broadcast on the TV channel is a pretty big loss and I thought it was a very central point to why the whole WCS system with alternating between OSL and GSL got set up in Korea.

I seem to recall that some of this past OSL WCS was actually not broadcast on TV either though. Pretty bad deal since it meant less of the awesome GOM production.

So, they will give some money to gom so they get their name some publicity. But still blizzard pqys whole prize pool.

If we'd get no more DoA and Montecristo, I'll be sad. I started out last season only watching GOM but I slowly switched over to OGN to hear that specific combo.

It's exactly the same for me, but I always wondered how they managed to work that hard and cast both games so well. Must have been extremely exhausting.

I always watch the OGN stream more than the GSL stream. Too bad they'll not broadcast GSL this season

What? I can't possibly believe this, because solely for a Western audience the exposure would be basically useless for this sponsor

We are talking about the Korean rebroadcasts on TV...
Anyways, sucks for sc2 not being on TV in Korea, but I don't mind seeing WCS Korea completely in the hands of gom.

SC 2 only being broadcasted on GOM means that the Korean Starcraft scene is pretty much dead. There is no way 10+ teams will be able to sustain themselves. KeSPA teams will probably completely switch over to LoL.

You haven't followed broodwar huh. Throughout its history there has been many teams that have appeared and gone. Plus in BW there was two broadcasters MBCGames and OGN. So losing teams is natural. no big deal.

There is a big deal when no new teams replace the old ones.

Then we have this:
Chris Loranger ‏@LorangerChris 15m

@sk__mc no more IM house?

장민철 ‏@sk__mc 5m

@LorangerChris yes

Axiom, Acer, EG, TL, Jin Air have recently gotten involved in Korea with the Team Leagues. Not sure when you say no new teams are getting involved.

Not sure why you list all of those separately when Axiom-Acer are a joint team, and so are/were EG-TL (whose participation in the next season is so far unconfirmed but largely believed to be unlikely). Jin Air is essentially Kespa Team 8 finally finding a sponsor, so not exactly a new team getting involved in the scene. (and to put things into perspective, it was the combined remnants of MBCGame Hero, WeMadeFOX and Hwaseung Oz to begin with, teams that disbanded not too long ago)

Plus, considering Bogus' transfer to Acer (which definitely does not bode well for STX considering they've announced recently that they will continue to support the team, and now lose their brightest star) and the struggles of what we considered the most financially secure eSF team in IM with their main sponsor (LG), things aren't exactly all sunshine and rainbows.

We'll just have to wait and see.

And to everyone wishing for a joint GSTL-PL, Scarlett already leaked there will be a 2nd Season of GSTL so we may not get to see that just yet, if ever. :/

GOM will still have their Korean stream, but OGN's was free.

Aw this sucks, OGN had free twitch vods, while stupid gomtv does not. Every other WCS broadcast has free twitch vods.

No big deal, just wait for OGN's turn to run WCS with the next OSL.

In the meantime, it makes sense to focus their efforts on something that brings more viewership. Afterall, who wants to broadcast for an audience who basically has no respect for how they have run things for so long?

So if I understand correctly, Koreans will only be able to watch this season through the internet and it won't be on TV?

Well this isn't good.Less sc2 on tv means less viewers for sc2 which in turn means less sponsors and less sponsorship money for sc2 teams.Sponsors are looking for return of investment ya know.Oh well you can not realistically force a television to broadcast a competing television esport shows.Although relistically it would make sense since ogn in a couple of months will be bradcasting wcs on their own channel and it would be a good idea to hype wcs up so they in turn will get better viewership.

They got a contract with blizzard,got about 8 sc2 teams with good sponsors,sc2 is the second most viewed esport in korea etc.Don't get it twisted.OGN wants to broadcast sc2/What you see here is nothing less than petty frictions between ogn and gom.Nothing to do with sc2.If you wanna know how low korean televisions go when it comes to competition between them just watch some of khaldor older blogs on the topic of ogn-gom frictions.For example ogn and kespa didnt want their players to play in the gsl and esf player had to threaten to boycot the osl.Only then did kespa players were allowed in the gsl.Its the petty politics that are killing sc2 in korea not the game itself.

I'm sure this contract you're speaking of also includes broadcasting this season, and yet they're not. How curious.

I'd also like to see a source for "sc2 is the second most viewed esport in korea" although I doubt you can provide one.
