This isn't a bash at smi, but I wish our community was a bit more positive in giving attention to teams in normal times, instead of doing nothing to give them exposure and blowing up whenever there is scandal.

thanks for the warning, but besides that i don't see that anyone was scammed, you were only "scammed" of your promises, but no real damage was done. "personal sponsorship" promising pcs and expensive hardware out of the blue... really guys? you did believe that?!

I feel like this would've been better kept off a public forum..

It's tough seeing how the scarcity of sponsorships for e-sports can lead to this type of thing. Yeah scams happen all the time, but this was just ridiculous.

This is pretty funny. Only way I can see that he could have even gotten anything out of you is if he said that he needed you to cover shipping or pay for him to send stuff, and seeing as that wasn't the case.....in any case, hope you learned a valuable lesson, if something seems too good to be true, it generally is.

I still do not understand what athena is supposed to get out of this. Everybody keeps asking but unless I missed it nobody from the team addresses it? Is the only reason this is even worth a thread to get some publicity out of him wasting of their time? he basically didn't do anything except be a liar idiot and scumbag but I see no gameplan that gets him money out of any of this...

Dirtybird even though you have been out of reach to confirm everything, are the players so "young" to not see how fishy this is? This is just more their fault then yours really. Advise them to think for themselves...

Please tell me you guys contacted the Police. If this guy has a record, he might be on probation. :/ if you didn't, contact the police immediately.

EDIT: and if you don't think there's a court case here. Just call Alienware. "Hey this guy claimed to be working for you, and sponsored a starcraft 2 team. Are you okay with this?" Pretty sure they'd be interested in this.

What a fucking waste of time this thread is. Some kid spent few months lying about sponsors to an unknown team (participated about 0 times in major tournaments). Yes, that's a huge e-sports scandal hahaha.
p.s. 0$ were involved, so nobody actually suffered.
