it was like this from the start. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=421281
dirtybird had the best of intentions but he was reluctant to answer any of the concerns raised by members of the community in his original thread. it's unfortunate to see the truth come out now, but my concern has always been that players receive proper compensation if they're going to be represented as being contracted. it is detrimental to the team, and even more detrimental to the rest of the competitive NA teams who cannot offer contracts to players and aren't naive enough to offer something they cannot give.

My thoughts exactly as I read scam multiple times and no money being lost. Like if he took a share of any online tourament winnings I could see it...
The big thing is this person was able to do this due to history and the ability to be vouched for. The best thing that could have been done is notice the problems early on and take action sooner. Don't get strung along for anything. If you can not get concrete information, leave and walk away. Sounds like this was some guy with a lot of time playing SC2, who had friends int he community who did some nasty trolling.

For realsies. It's texas, and he already looks pretty insulated to begin with.
Maybe it was an aesthetics thing. The way his chin turns into larger jowls which then into larger rolls on the shirt. It is like a reverse matryoshka doll made of fat pasty nerd
Alas, as an outside observer, I can only speculate. Hopefully the star of this show gives me the answers I crave.

Wow now that was of things to read. With regards to scareborn, hyper, and the other sca trolls in here.
1) SCA reputation in the community is that of a clan filled with stream cheaters, snipers, and accused maphackers. Not to mention overall bm. Check out this example from SCA facebook page where 1 player decided he had enough of the bm. I wont name the players but they are all sca players. I have tons and tons of examples. Lets not do this guys.
http://tinypic.com/r/28hznf5/5
http://tinypic.com/r/aox1s9/5
http://tinypic.com/r/4v2tc0/5
http://tinypic.com/r/8w9smh/5
http://tinypic.com/r/8w9smh/5
http://tinypic.com/r/29qfxxc/5
2) SCA claims to have a sponsor, but in reality its the parents of one of the team members and that team member is infact a ddoser. He spends his time ddosing people. I have the chat logs to prove it. The guy even ddosed his own sca members. I also have those logs. Last time I checked... ddosing was illegal o.O
3) SCA and myself broke up on quite the bad terms. I was on SCA for a short duration after realizing it was a troll team filled with bm players, I was looking towards other teams. This was when sMi approched me and other SCA players. SCA is upset that my friends Jonsnow, Virium, Skipper, and of course myself left SCA for sMi. The fact we left, crippled SCA as their lineup is destroyed and they lost most their mannered players.
4) SCA has a history of pitchforking people they dont like. http://www.reddit.com/r/AllThingsTerran/comments/1h3j6j/htomario_possibly_boosted_to_gm_verify/ that link is an example of where former sca member, Yume tried to make it seem like htomario was fake. Lets not go through this yet again.
5) I understand why SCA is upset that all their best players left. I understand that they are mad at me for leaving, but adding drama doesnt help anybody. It certainly doesn't help their reputation as a clan.
6) With regards to my skill level. I play quite frequently with my friends. Many of whom I became friends with on SCA and whom I went to sMi with. Its true that I've cut down from my broodwar/WOL days but I still try to play when I can spare some time. I'm definitely no Neeb. Neeb is way better than me haha. #usafighting
Compared to Neeb or some of the other top tier Terrans, I'm like wood league.
7) SCA please dont add drama to a post that is focused on another person. I'm sorry I hurt your clans strength by leaving, alongwith jonsnow, virium, and skipper. In all honesty, it wasn't right environment for us. SCA was not helping our reputations as the clan is known for bm, stream cheating, maphacking. Literally ask any prominent streamer and they will say that haha. I wish SCA good luck, I hope they can fill the roster. I know you tried to offer mario money to join your team, please dont become another scam situation. I'm sure if you work hard to clean up your clan's reputation, you would get many more players.
SCA, lets have this convo on skype and not in public, otherwise I'm going to have to keep linking screenshots and chatlogs It wont help your reputation.
ALSO Team Panda Attack Squad <--- NOW THAT is funny haha.
To sum up, its sad we were getting scammed. We didnt lose much outside of time. Its still disappointing but it was a good lesson and I'm happy the scam didnt go further. I cant imagine what might've happened or what the possible end goal was.

One of the keyboards in that last picture is a Razer Lycosa lol. Probably just pulled it off his desk.

This is why I was asking for sponsorship information when you announced your team. You acted so defensive when I was skeptical of your personal sponsorship, but it's things like this, which happen much more often than you might think, that make me and other people skeptical. I feel you should have taken the situation more seriously. Personal sponsorships are great, but scams like this are pretty easy to sniff (when you're the one receiving the scam).
Seriously though, don't blow things out of proportion. It sucks that your team isn't sponsored anymore, but your team can still strive towards success. It's not really a big blow to anything except your pride. That'll heal in a few weeks and you'll be well on your way to working towards becoming a successful and thriving team again. The worst thing you could do is let this situation turn into something huge in your head.
Everyone makes mistakes, and it's hard to run a small team and try to go big with it. You gotta take risks and sometimes they don't pay off.
Wish ya'll the best of luck.

I have already got teams in multiple games such as LoL, World of Tanks, Dota 2, BW, Civ 5, Skyrim, Minecraft, and Chess Online. I am offering a starting salary of $11,000 per month but there are tryouts to get on the team. You must be at least low GM to tryout and tryouts last for 11 months. After the 11 months I plan on putting together a team house for you guys that will most likely be located in the Bahamas (I own several islands in the area so there may be multiple gaming houses if the players want there privacy). I will also be sending out gaming equipment to the players such as the new upcoming Steel series keyboard the 8G gaming keyboard. I have access to such equipment (3 years before the expected release) because I am actually the CEO of Steel series. Please message me for more details if you want to tryout for my new super awesome team!
p.s. the team name is Team Panda Attack Squad
GOOD LUCK HAVE FUN EVERYONE
I'm a low silver/high bronze player, but I'm actually really, really good. I know how to make hotkeys (even map location ones!!) and I learned this trick that I call the 1a that allows me to move my ENTIRE army (no, seriously...all of it) with a single keypress and a single click. I don't really want to give away my secret, because it's really good, but it involves those hotkeys I mentioned earlier. In addition, I only miss probe production for about ~3 in game minutes at a time, which I think is quite stellar and deserves praise, and when I lose nearly all my games (through no fault of my own. The other races are OP) I only BM for several minutes. In summary, I think I would be perfect for your team, although, because I'm clearly quite good I'd like to negotiate both salary (needs to be higher) and tryout time (needs to be lower). The teamhouse I'm willing to condescend to because I understand you can't go all out. I'll expect your PM in no less than 20 minutes because an opportunity like this is one that doesn't come along for people in your position very often.

I really, REALLY don't get it. sMi didn't really lose anything but their time (and pride so it seems) did they? They thought they were getting sponsored but they weren't, so unless they started spending money they didn't have then they never really left square one...

I dont wanna bring up flame bait, but what is wrong with BW/SC2 teams and scamming like this being so damn common?? I worked in a top tier WC3 team back in the day, the strongest WC3/BW team in Canada actually... and everything was super professional and mannered and legit. No one EVER got on eachother's accounts to level boost or anything shady at all. We all practiced hard, stayed polite and accomplished great things (multiple WCG finals participants).
Then in the first year of SC2, I co-captain'd some of the first sponsored SC2 teams / popular BW teams from the iccup days.. And we had one confirmed hacker on our team (a famous SC2 player now, who retired I believe but still) and lots of sketchy account-sharing instances within our lineups for clanwars and such, it was all organized by management above me in order to win and appear to make us seem more important than we were. Of course, me being from the WC3L days, I would much rather lose 0-5 with legit players than win 5-0 with one person on 4 smurfs. But they didnt want that.
It just seems like a common theme in the BW scene. And probably why the north american scene is so bad. Sad really.

yes, and the fact that the community is so inclined to make jokes at the expense of sMi is absolutely disgusting. it sheds a bad light on us.
