I'm always curious about "one and out" GSL finalists. Did he abuse meta? Was he a shooting star for one season? Did others catch up with him? Just curious. GL NHS! Pleasant memories of you all around. He prepped really well and jerked Leenock around on a chain in the GSL finals, and this was when everyone thought Leenock would win, since he came in fresh off his MLG victory. They weren't metagame victories, Jjakji just played extremely well. If you actually have time, I recommend the finals; they're easily one of the best finals the GSL has put on, and you can see Jjakji's hard work pay off. Some people say Jjakji came out of nowhere, but he was actually really good even before his breakout run. He did extremely well in the online Korean Weekly cup, which was a place where up-and-coming players often had some really great showings before breaking out, e.g. PuMa, Life, Curious, Jjakji, Squirtle, Tassadar, Bboongbboong, Taeja especially, etc. Since it was the only other tournament in Korea that they could compete in, a lot of extremely good players often signed up for it, so the tournament was no joke, even if it as online. All this to say, Jjakji is really good. I think his lack of a proper team + management (sorry, NSHS fans!) really hurt him though. | ||
