22 May 2013 - Since its inception, FXOpen e-Sports has taken pride in our ability to develop our players and achieve success through dedication and teamwork. We believe in providing a solid foundation for our players and allowing them to focus on self-improvement and achieving the highest level of play. We also believe in showing quality and entertaining games for our fans. Time and time again, our team training atmosphere has enabled a path to success for our players in both individual and team tournaments.
Today, we are proud to announce a new addition to our team and family. Our most recent addition is a player that is no stranger to high profile matches and will no doubt make himself and his teammates stronger. He also comes with a trophy that we did not yet have: a GSL championship.
Please join us in welcoming the newest player in our line-up, the GSL champion and always entertaining Ahn Sahng Won [안상원] – FXOSeed!
Seed comes to the FXOpen Korea team from LG-IM: his contract had not expired, but after discussions with both Seed and LG-IM, we were eager to buy out his contract and welcome him with open arms. He has been competing as a StarCraft 2 progamer since 2011. One of only two Protoss players to ever win a GSL championship, he is known for his intelligent and innovative play style. Fans may remember his pioneering use of hallucination to fake tech routes in Wings of Liberty and his unique PvP builds during his strong 4-1 GSL championship victory over SK.MC in GSL 2012 Season 3.
While things have been quiet for Seed as of late, we are confident that he can regain his top form in a fresh training environment surrounded by supportive teammates and coaches. He looks to follow in the footsteps of his teammate FXOsC, who was able to get back into tournament shape shortly after joining the team, all-kill Axiom-Acer in GSTL, and qualify directly into the WCS Korea Up/Down matches.
We are thrilled that Seed has joined the FXOpen family and we look forward to helping him accomplish his goals. Please show FXOSeed your support and excitement during this change in his progaming career!
Now that my initial shock is over I guess I'll give a real comment.
I don't get this, no offense to FXO but I don't think they're able to offer Seed a better training environment from IM. If that's the case then we can either assume Seed no longer felt comfortable on IM for whatever reason or he's getting a significant amount of money for this transfer. Either way I don't like it, really sad about this.
I think if Seed was ever going to return to relevancy he would do it on IM, not on another eSF team.
Haha so mad. People were asking where Seed was on Friday in the GSTL match. Would never of thought he was going to FXO! Gz awesome pick up. Finally some 'toss on FXO xD
Seed was overshadowed by too many good Protoss players at LG-IM (even though he is a GSL champion) I guess he needed another atmosphere. I'm still sad to see him leave LG-IM congratz to FXO and Seed

Seed's been on IM for a long time and things haven't been working well for him for a long time. If things aren't working out, it's smart to make a change. I don't think he has anywhere to go but up, it's worth a shot.
He doesn't want to be 5th-choice protoss anymore on a team that is so protoss-heavy, on a small team like FXO he can very realistically become #1. Plus FXO have an excellent GSTL pedigree that, if he's a part of a championship run, could jump-start his career again.
Looks like too many toss on LGIM and Seed didnt get as much chance to play as before because of Squirtle and MC. Kinda unexpected but still best of luck to him, FXO is a good team.
Well now he'll be one of the most importants players for his team, he was very relegated in LG-IM's spotlight due to Squirtle, First, YongHwa, MC, Mvp, Nestea, even Losira. Now in FXO it's no doubt he'll be their top player along with Leenock and Gumiho.

Unfortunately no, roster lock rules means he has to wait until next season.
From a fan's point of view, I'm okay with this. Even though I'd like to see Seed play more, it'd feel weird to see him immediately sent out for FXO when I've had no time to get used to the idea. Good luck to Seed and FXO!

Why was he a fifth choice Protoss in the first place when he's the only Protoss Champion on their roster? Other than SK's MC.

I'm sure it will be good for him, at least in terms of money, seeing as FXO bought out his contract.
It's just a bit hard for me to see someone who has been on one of my favorite teams for so long leave, I was watching live when he won GSL and Mvp and Nestea went into his booth to welcome him to the GSL champions club. He won IPL TAC 3 for IM, he was the only one who could beat Taeja at that time. It just stings for me to see him go after everything that has happened. Even if he's no longer as important for IM he was still one of the guys I wanted to see with the rest of the team at the studio when they went to play.

True that, I am also a fan of Seed and I remember when NesTea said that Seed lost his game passion. After that he wasnt the same Seed
IM have a lot of great toss players, this frees some salary space and shrinks the roster a little bit allowing the other players to receive more attention.
FXO pick up a good protoss player (something there roster was lacking) and they add some more star calibre.
Seed gets a fresh start with a new team which could kick start his rejuvenation to become a champion once again.
holy shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit well LG-IM has so many good players now, and he didn't play all to well the last few months Gratz to borth parties, and GL to seed, i want to see him shine again!

For sure, it can be shocking to see a long-time integral member of a team leave. But I think it's for the right reasons, and every party here -- IM, FXO, and Seed -- stands to potentially gain.
As a FXO fan, it's a good news . And anyway the IM bench is sooooo deep that it don't matter too much for them. They already have squirte, yonghwa and first as successful Hots protoss, + losira and yoda.
And now FXO will have a deeper bench, with sc, Seed, Gumiho, leenock and hurricane (sorry thebest and lucky :'( ) as regular players.
As far a "player improving" goes, I don't see why it would be worse on FXO than on IM, they have a dedicated coach too, and as seed haven't been doing that well lately, it may be a new fresh start for him
Looks like the perfect trade: LG-IM has too many and FXO too few protosses. Really hope Seed finds back to his top-form, he was my favorite player then with both great skills and charisma. SC2 needs him.

It's not possible for someone to not have a personality. Some are just more outgoing than others. And you have to keep in mind that it's not easy for Korean SC2 players to express their personality to fans, due to cultural norms, language barrier, etc. I wouldn't want to exclude a Korean player from my attention just because he doesn't perform ceremonies all the time, or else I'd be missing out from some great gameplay.

They have Squirtle, Yonghwa, First and Ruin. Seed, while being a champion, become their fifth option Protoss. With his lack of motivation (Nestea's words), it was probably best for both parties to start anew. LG-IM gets to drop a contract of a once high caliber player, but who has fallen into a massive slump, and FXO get a player in a slump who, if they can get going, could be one of the best Protoss players in the world.
A win-win for both teams, and Seed gets to start again in a new place where he might find his passion again.

Well said, I'm going to be waiting patiently for LGIM to grab a Terran though!

sC, if healthy, has the potential to be a GSL champion. Dude went off to play League for six months, came back to HotS, and already winning shit against top players. Dude is a rare talent, but was held back in WoL because of his health issues and the whole wanting to play League thing.
A focused, healthy sC is probably eSF's best Terran. If FXO gets that sC, they shouldn't sell him for anything.
With all the high-caliber Protoss competition in LG-IM, I could see why he preferred to transfer to a team where he could get a chance to shine more. Gratz to all parties involved. It's been rather quiet around eSF teams lately. So, good news.
Probably been said a million times already, but this is a great opportunity for him to grow into a better player overall and reach new heights. *snigger*

Congrats to FXO and Seed! You never really see people leave LG-IM, so this is pretty cool. Hopefully the change of atmosphere and players will help out Seed.
I don't like that they're putting the trophy of a player who earned it on a different team in their own team house, It's not really theirs.
it's the player's trophy not the team's...
I guess I just see the purpose of the team house trophy case differently than you, I look at it and think " FXO did this, they earned these. " I just don't see the point to put it up there, I figure it would be kept at Seed's house instead.

Seed takes the trophy with him, hence why it's now at the FXO house. It's also positive motivation for him and his team when they practice. Keeping it locked up in his house would be silly and wouldn't be of any benefit/value.
The player on the team won the trophy, while the player is on the team it's in the team's trophy cabinet. Seems reasonable. He's a member of the team.
I'm a bit heartbroken he's leaving IM but if this is best for Seed than so be it. I'm not about to stop cheering for him just because he plays for another team and I look forward to seeing FXO bring him back to his former glory.

Really, really, really unexpected. This kinda sucks for lg-im, in terms of good individual league players they had mvp, nestea, squirtle, losira, seed and maybe yoda. Now mvp and nestea are overseas farming, yoda hasn't been doing that well lately, seed left and now they only have losira and squirtle left. Good for fxo on the other hand, now they havee a really good player of each race.
In some ways I am happy they recieved a big name. And in some ways I am sad that I can't say FXO.kr only breeds their own talent :/ Hopefully this was the only time, I dislike teams who only buys big names.

to be honest seed is not doing that great at the moment, if he becomes really good again then that's definitely a good FXO achievement
My favourite player leaving my favourite team. ;o I am actually happy though, I think Seed really needs a new beginning and I feel this benefits both IM, Seed, and FXO greatly. I hope FXO can get him back on his feet.
Good to see my favourite GSTL team finally have a duo of strong players for each race GuMiHo and Sc, Leenock and lucky and Tear and seed. FXO is looking stronger by the day.

Pretty much. By the way I learned today that Parting was on FoU and FXO before joining ST
Seed no longer wanted to be with LG-IM. He felt that he wasn't going to accomplish anything else if he stayed there. With Incredible Miracle's incredible Protoss lineup, it was near impossible for Seed to shine through anymore. Seed contacted Choya and negotiations began. All FXO members were thrilled to hear that Seed would be joining the team and welcomed him with open arms. Seed himself was very excited to join FXO. This is pretty much a fresh start for him. He told Choya that he feels that he can become a top player once again. He just needed a change of environment and a new source of motivation and determination.
Seed moved out of the LG-IM team house over 2 months ago and moved in to the FXO team house. Choya deliberately did not release the news early because a) he's not in WCS right now and b) he's not eligible to play for FXO in GSTL either. So getting the news out ASAP was not really a high priority since Seed wasn't really relevant in the WCS/GSL scene at that moment.
Welcome to FXO Seed. I very much look forward to working with you ^^
i dont think they really can "develope" a GSLchampion any further, but if they can bring him back on track thats very good, anyways LG-IM still has sick players, so i hope this is a case of "win win win" =)
edit: just look at seeker's post right above mine <.<
What a nice grab. I'll always remember seed for that sick hallucinated fake immortal bust into hidden expo. I can also recall some speed prism immortal builds in PvP which were pretty entertaining. Probably the most interesting Protoss player to watch imo.

Whoa. It's surprising to hear that he wanted a change in his training environment for a fresh "start" in the midst of such a minor slump. He's still a GSL champ.

FXOHurricane / Tear has been playing better than Seed for a long time now and almost got to code S for the next season. (He still has a chance in ups and downs.) So FXO has had a good protoss for a long time, it's just that it was their only good protoss which is the issue. At least they have 2 now
Even though IM are my equal favourite team with Woongjin Stars, I'm happy about this. IM already has Squirtle, Yonghwa and First, so if they believe Squirtle is worth more than Seed or if they think he is worth the same as Seed but Seed was asking for more money, it makes sense for them to let someone acquire Seed. That said, IM keeps getting new sponsors, so they could probably afford to have kept Seed on if they wished!
Somewhat unexpected. I hope he feels better on Fxo, I always liked his playstyle very much, he's also a very entertaining personality. Quite a loss for IM I gotta say
- Protoss is the flavor in Korea at the moment. - Tear just doesn't cut it. - One of each race - Leenock, Gumiho, Seed - forms the trinity that FXO needs. - Pretty sure Seed, LG-IM and FXO all agreed to this.

How does "tear not cut it" he got an all kill and reached the final round of challenger as opposed to seed who urm... topped beta GM?

"You are not cutting it Tear so we are adding a player who is doing way worse than you."
And yeah, allkill + up-and-down are clearly not enough

Isn't Seed their only player NOT in WCS? In a weird way it makes IM even better as a team. I mean obviously Seed has the potential to come back but at this very moment IM's entire roster represents them across 3 different regions, something that they couldn't say yesterday
LG-IM still has First, Squirtle, Ruin and YongHwa in their protoss line up. They may have lost a great toss player but they still have 3 toss players that have the same or better skill level than Seed. Ruin is the only toss on IM that is not as good as Seed.

That's the burden you have to live with being born in Starcraftland ^_^
Do way more than most foreigners yet not no.1 ---> underappreciation is secured.
I very much look forward to working with you ^^
I'm happy to see that it was what I imagined. Not really a team poaching a hyped up player (hi EG), but more a player wanting to change his environnement. As a FXO fanboy I'm thrilled to see if Seed will grow again as a champion in his new environnement .
I completely agree with the decision for Seed.. I mean IM is a stronger team, but still - better be an A-Teamer in a B-Team rather than be a B-Teamer in an A-Team..
It was obvious that some of the Protosses would be better of finding another team.. So glad for Seed, hope he makes it..

Calling FXO a B-Team is so wrong.
Good luck Seed, you will be missed
FXO is definitely not a B team. Last year they won 2 out of the 3 GSTLs. They have players in Code S, and even the players they have that aren't in the GSL are a serious threat, like Tear. Not to mention that Leenock is an MLG winning machine.
Perhaps this will rejuvenate Seed's motivation and passion for the game? I would think that having won a GSL would make him hungry to clean up on some foreign tournaments or something of the like. Surely he has seen how much money MC has made in all the non-GSL tourneys that he has either won or placed high in!
On the other hand, I can imagine that once you've won the hardest and most prestigious tournament there is maybe you feel like there are no more challenges for you. In either case I think this was another great move for FXO and I look forward to seeing whats in store for both FXO and Seed.

Why single them out? Teams in general suck at marketing their players especially Korean teams.
Pretty much. If I had to list successful Korean players that have had their success marketed it probably reads a quite short list. Like: Mvp, Nestea, DRG, MC, Bomber.
How many commercials has Life appeared in since being awesome? Even Kespa don't really use their players well enough for marketting. I almost wondered if it was a big tax break for a lot of those companies.

And even for those players you listed for successful marketing, much of the marketing didn't come from the teams, but instead came from Artosis/Day9 hyping them up (aka Nestea and Bomber).

Thank you so much for that. I needed a good laugh ^^

My god, we need to be careful with jokes... Is it me or mods have been more and more strict recently ? For those like me whose mother tongue isn't english, it's getting quite dangerous if we're not sure of the words we chose... I know I shouldn't comment on bans, but please take this into consideration (Edit: this guy seems to be a native speaker but still).

And he forgot sniper, which is real crime here ! + Show Spoiler +
by the way I think the "irrelevant champions" all deserved their title (jiakji is far from his prime but still the best player on his bench after madbull), and while they may not anymore be title contender (but honnestly I don't see nestea win a WCS korea anymore) they are still strong players

Well with the "Fruitdealer coming out of retirement" it sounded obvious to me he was...
seed has done nothing to deserve attention the last half year. right? i mean, he's been code b in gsl for awhile now and i havent seen him do anything noticeable anywhere else.

I'd like to apologise profusely for not making it clear enough with the reference to goddamn FRUITDEALER that I was joking, thus forcing the mods to temp-ban me. In future, all attempts at humour will be typed in italics and clearly marked with sarcasm tags just in case people are incapable of ascertaining my meaning.

It's obvious enough that you weren't being serious with your post, but there was still a degree of disrespect implied in calling Fruitdealer and jjakji "irrelevant" (yes, sad NSH fan here).
