According to this, tournaments are not allowed to broadcast at the same time as WCS events. Is this true? Can Blizzard step in and cancel Dreamhack?

They most probably wont go that far, but still. Monopoly is a scary thing.

I hope they do that because it will make a shitstorm like we never have seen before. Yes, I love drama.

The dates for Dreamhack have been known for a long time.
Would be nice to hear from MLG about their motives for causing this scheduling conflict.

Yeah, it's obviously a conspiracy to fuck DreamHack up. If anything, players are gonna prioritize DH, since they're already there.

I fail to see how this hurt Dreamhack.

I just meant that this scheduling conflict is the responsibilty of MLG.

If nothing else it is not nice to the players who ended up in the middle of this mess.

I'm pretty sure Qualifiers do not fall under the 'no major tournament may coincide blabla'. However, it does pose maybe a problem for players who want to qualify for WCS NA "Code A", and therefor have to pull off some crazy 20hr awake schedule to stay awake during the day @ DH, and then play the Challenger league qualifier at/during the night. Does not sound healthy or productive for the players involved.

WCS qualifier games will be broadcasted on 27th of April. But will they be played this very day (as MLG broadcasts from replays) ?

EG players need to get back to Korea for Proleague so they probably can't participate at all. It sucks because they had to make blind region choices due to Blizzard's incompetence and now they won't have a chance to get to Premier League until season 3 and miss out on an entire season of Premier League points. They skipped Code A qualifiers for this crap because they probably assumed some sort of competence from Blizzard and the organizers.

It will not happen. Blizzard has made some bad decisions in the past... but NO ONE... I repeat NO ONE at blizzard is stupid enough to even try and cancel a stacked Dreamhack like that for WCS AM Challenger qualifiers especially after the shit storm of the premier league qualifiers. Blizzard Cancelling DH would be suicide/murder of the Sc2 scene in NA really.

Yea I am not delusional, there is no way that they would cancel dreamhack, my point was more towards the "worth it for the drama" part.

It would be worth it in trying to achieve the Guiness World Record in most posts / minute on an internet forum relative to a very short span of time :D! WE SHOULD GO FOR IT TL.

Can't wait for DH btw

Yeah, this scheduling conflict is too hilarious to always occur with MLG / DreamHack. DreamHack announces their stuff 6 months ahead or something :D, how is it even possible!? Of course.. sometimes it just happens for other reasons... but yeah.
