NA champ will be some guy on an NA team. There's only 1 player playing in NA who is on a Korean team and that's Nestea.

Actually, Azubu, IM, Liquid, Axiom, and maybe CMStorm are all non-NA teams.

I'm sorry, you're right about Azubu, and CMStorm is debatable because they're a branch of a multi-national company that also has a US headquarters but you're wrong about the rest.

Liquid's main office is in NYC as far as I know, that makes them a US team. Axiom is in fact a US team, if you disagree you can listen to TB's latest monologue on why they picked NA for their players.

Even with Azubu and CMStorm, that would make 3 players out of 32 in the premiere division, and with no guarantee that they'll be able to qualify or even if they're invited, stay there in the first place. They could drop down if they lose. The rest are all players on NA teams, including one player from the vehemently anti-Korean Root.

We simply have different views then. Liquid lists itself as an European team and only one of it's players is from NA. The teamliquid.net office is in NYC (where hotbid lives, i believe), but that doesn't mean the Liquid team is NA (your talking website, i'm talking team). Axiom is a team full of koreans with European owners, so while TB likely caters to the US audience, it wouldn't make it a US team, imo. Axiom has no connections to NA via team headquarters, owners, or players...sponsors do not make up a team.

Either way I agree that this isn't going to grow the NA or EU scenes, but for much different reasons.

I agree with you as regards Liquid, but the owner of Axiom is TB's wife, who is actually American, and they live in the US, even if TB is British.

But they are an all korean team with a korean teamhouse and korean players playing in the GSTL. I don't see how what you say trumps this, so we simply have to agree to disagree.

Snute, TLO, Ret don't exist, right ?

Well considering that they are gonna expand the offline portion in the future, that means a goods 50% of the whining in this thread has been entirely unjustified. Blizzard way ahead of the curve.

Look at all the Negative Nancys still.
For all of those people, please try to collect your thoughts as they are right now and store them away in the back of your brain.
Now in a couple of months time in the WCS Global Finals when there are around 100k viewers, regardless of whether it is Korean v Korean or not, please recollect those old thoughts from today and ask yourself the same question again, with the number of viewers on the stream giving you a firm answer of how wrong you really were.

@Godwrath below: we are talking about axiom.....not liquid, ffs

Well, you said that Axiom has no connections to NA via owners, which is not true Team owners, to varying degrees influence the team's origin. FXO are actually Australian, but them having a team house, management and coaching located in Korea, as well as being an integral part of the Korean scene's ecosystem, many people consider them to be Korean. SK Gaming, on the other hand, only have MC, but I cannot fathom how anyone would consider SK to be Korean, being one of the most well known European organisations. Fnatic are London based, yet they prefer to be seen as European/worldwide. Since Genna Bain is so hands-on in directing and leading Axiom, since content for the team is brought out solely for the fans in the West, then the US is often associated with Axiom, despite the obvious Korean connections. I attribute nationality of a team to the its registered offices myself, but its up to the person I guess ^^.

Well, technically all these Koreans playing in NA/EU would be the "foreigners" now, so the "foreign" scene is healthy right? :p

TB drops some info on his teams feeling on the matter. He pretty much says that it doesn't make sense for them not to be in NA WCS, since they already get exposure through GSTL.

https://soundcloud.com/totalbiscuit/my-thoughts-on-wcs

People should listen, its pretty good and he makes some solid arguments why a more region focused event would be helpful. He cites players that are part time player(due to school/work) who are almost beating top koreans and that everything would be better if they could go full time.

indeed. And still ForGG or MMA, as good as they are, there is no guarantee they will win (and I am 99% sure they won't). This is exactly what TB was talking about, EU guys are not outnumbered by Koreans, which means they can brainstorm against them and beat them. EU scene generally being better then NA and stronger lag KR->EU means I am fairly certain there will be max 1 Korean from EU at the global finals, maybe even 0.

Actually, I feel like WCS EU is achieving exactly what it is supposed to achieve...

This guy has a point. If Koreans didn't participate in the NA WCS who would our terran players be? Illusion? Then who?
