EU seems pretty good. There are enough koreans to make it better and more competitive, but not enough to take all our money.
All I do is Stim.

good job blizzard, good fucking job.

After your 16 invited NA pro's get slaughtered MLG will be hosting WCS Korea 2.0

Well this isn't the open bracket at MLG and the players are going to know their match ups well in advance, unlike MLG. There are NA players that can take down the players on this list in a best of 5. There is a little hope. But only a little.

I can't see why Blizzard didn't use IPL rules -- you need a birth certificate from or be living in the region you want to compete in. This way NaNi and Scarlett can still play their regions, Polt and ForGG can play in NA/EU and we don't see the massive influx of Koreans into NA. It's fair to the players and protects the scene. There are 20 Koreans competing in NA + the Koreans already living in NA that plan to compete, we may see 24 Koreans in the 32 man NA Premiere league by season 2.

Its not shocking at all. All the players in it for the money, though some die hard fans would like to claim that Koreans are in it for the love of the game. Its a little of both, but the money makes it easier to love the game.

Yeah it's not shocking, but that doesn't make it honorable.

This was never about honor, it was about making a living. Welcome to the real world of competitive anything. If there were no Korean leagues for these players to qualify for, they wouldn't play SC2 at all.

Except the only Koreans to choose NA/EU are the ones with money (foreign teams). They make a living. As you said before progamers aren't in it ONLY for the money, and a current Code S player should choose the competition over some more money.

And I will quit my job of I am offered more money elsewhere. This is their job and they do what is best for them. It was never about being the best in the world. It was always about making a living and more doing what you loved.

Really seems like you're pulling things out of your ass for the sake of arguing. Before you said its a little of both, now it's just money. Please think about whether that's contradictory.

To claim there are no Korean players who care about being the best is not very discerning. I shouldn't need to explain why.

Well I love working in law, but I also want to buy a scooter. A lot of Korean players want to be the best, but they also want to make a living and make money. It can be about both for them too, because they are complex people and can want more than one thing. People can be contradictory with what they want.

There's a logical contradiction in your argument. You're making two statements that cannot both be true. Now you're it saying "a lot of Koreans want to be the best", right after you said "it was never about being the best in the world". If its about both being the best and money, though, there's a balance to be struck in particular situations, and I really think a current, salaried and rich Code S player like MC and Taeja should stay in Code S.

4/10/2013 the death of the NA starcraft 2 scene.

Blizzard first took from us MLG and all possibilities of an OB, then they gave our tournament to koreans.

gg, time to quit.

What will happen to Code S - "the the biggest and bestest eSports tournament in the world"? All the glamorous and shiny names like MVP, MC, Nestea and many others won't participate anymore. Code S was the Champions League of Starcraft. Now i feel like it will only be the Korean League.

I will still keep watching it, because i watched it over the last years, and it feels like home and i really like listening to Tastosis and Khaldor/Wolf.

But so many Superstars leave now, because of this new WCS System makes it unprofitable to participate in the "the the biggest and bestest eSports tournament in the world".

I really don't like it.

Well there could be other reasons for any player. Taeja may like competing in NA or wants to provide sponsorship time for this team, which mostly has NA sponsors. MC loves NA events and is a huge crowd pleaser. Both these players could be competing for reasons beyond just SC2, like the fans, travel or the needs of their team.

Maybe this is the motivation Blizzard was talking about. If you get all of the GM players to quit playing, then bam, the scene is reinvigorated to become GM pros. Someone has to look out for the diamond players.

Who in NA can take down a KR player? Only person I can think of is NA with a KR background. Scarlett is staying in Korea I believe so that's one top NA gone.

Question: Would people feel differently about the "lack of region lock" if players were required to get/maintain GM on the region they've signed up for?

IMO this would at least mean the ladder get's an infusion of competition / top talent that could be useful practice for the pro's in that region?
