What so EG one of the only Western E-sports teams that actually appears to make money, should have to curtail their pickups because their business model appears to actually work?

The analogy with football in Europe is so off-base. A lot of that regulation pertains to sugar daddies, oligarchs and sheikhs who inject clubs with shitloads of money, to unsustainable degrees.

Their Proleague roster is the smallest in the league...come on now this is just silly.

it's not like they've got a split team with TL eh? I'm comparing them to the foreign scene and no one there is barely close in terms of names. Why do these names not perform to their hype is a different problem. Obviously you can't set up a solid competitive roster in Proleague when all your big names are underperforming severely.

Ten times bigger than average?? So an average team only has 1-2 players on their team? Holy shit, rofl. Not to mention that EG has never been "suddenly rich" and has had their sustainable business model for years.

EG really doesn't have a knack for picking Korean players. I mean, Oz and Alive are both good players, but they're on a descending curve IMO. They'll never be as good as they once were, relative to other players.

Biggest NA team giving up on foreign players, focusing on Korea? Also... dont know if I would go this route...why not wait for more Kespa Koreans who will be slowly overtaking the ESF.

How long are you considered a foreign team if you employ more korean pro's than foreign?

Change EG's name to TSL refugee center. Jokes aside, great pick up by EG. Oz and Alive were playing so well last year but I haven't heard much from them this season but hopefully that'll change come their proleague matches.

Why are you comparing them to the foreign scene? It says in the announcement that these pickups are mainly to bolster their Proleague roster. Team competition outside Korea is a joke anyway so why does it matter what team the players are on? Big props to Take for this Teamstory Cup thing, before that all we had was online matches.

so you think it's their e-sport thing that earns them money? Sancta simplicitas, it's all about sponsors.

by roster i mean actually known names, not that roster consisting of mid GM nobodys. Please name me one EU team having at least couple of idra\stephano\jd\revival\huk\thorzain\oz\alive-caliber players.

Oh well shit son, I wasn't aware of the idea of sponsors funding EG. The same sponsors that I can pretty much list because EG actually publicise them well. The same sponsors that sponsor EG for that exposure. Oh but yeah put something in latin to ram home your redundant point in a smug fashion, a point that I am perfectly aware of.

Even in 'real' sports the team does not directly earn the biggest football teams their cash. Sponsorship and the TV deals that come with it, global fanbases and merchandising all have an effect as well.

It is too bad Puma couldn't get the terms he wanted, EGTL would benefit from good practice partners.
