wonder if we might get like a hots FFA so these guys don't totally waste their time and MLG's money haha What MLG should do is pay only for the flight there and then have a losers bracket where you need to win a round to get your flight home.
also players who lost 0-2 shouldnt get anything to eat or drink and obviously no hotel room.

Why not kick it up a notch and loser gets their passport taken from them for a week? Are you guys suggesting our sound proof dunk booths into snake pits is not enough? Nah, to retrieve your passport, you need to progress though a torture chamber and then a series of death traps in a winding maze of a room. At the end of an exhausting maze where you are deprived of water, food and fresh air, you face Flash in BW to determine whether you can leave the country alive.

We're expecting a lot of ourselves for this event, and we're very excited to share with you guys.
Good luck to MLG. I highly doubt you will be able to keep the promise of "minimize downtime". Lets hope you've hired an army of interviewers that wont ask the same questions every time a player appears on the stage and also have plans like having extra commentators talk about the tournament either from a stageside couch or out in the crowd. Also, lets not do something like only show koreans/KESPA players on the main stage. Show the foreigners some love too! All in all, GLHF hope it's a successful event both online and live in Dallas.

The whole tournament is BO5 for the bracket and BO7 for finals.

This. Now IEM WC not doing it correct, even with the Beta issue they should have better coverage. As long as there is enough streams to ensure the possibility of watching any match eveyrthing is fine.

I am with this man 100%, down time is not acceptable and anything that needs to be changed to fix the issue must be done. Removing the open bracket from the event(not on site, but held prior the event) is the first step toward what is needed. The removal of the losers bracket the correct step to fixing the production issues and keeping things moving at a brisk pace.
The players complaining about being knocked out in the first round need to get passed it. You can get knocked out in the first round of the Olympics too, and they only happen every 4 years. The NFL in the play offs is a best of one. No one said this was going to be easy or not be high risk.

The NFL in the play offs is a best of one. No one said this was going to be easy or not be high risk. I think that a tournament should make some effort to ensure the most money goes to the best players, though. From Wikipedia:
In a random knockout tournament (single-elimination without any seeding), awarding the second place to the loser of the final is unjustified: any of the competitors knocked out by the tournament winner might have been the second strongest one, but they never got the chance to play against the losing finalist. In general, it is only fair to use a single-elimination tournament to determine first place. To fairly determine lower places requires some form of round-robin in which each player/team gets the opportunity to face every other player/team. Also, if the competitors' performance is variable, that is, it depends on a small, varying factor in addition to the actual strength of the competitors, then not only will it become less likely that the strongest competitor actually wins the tournament, in addition the seeding done by the tournament organizers will play a major part in deciding the winner. As a random factor is always present in a real world competition, this might easily cause accusations of unfairness. Even if this is just an introductory HotS event, showings of skill should be rewarded fairly.
