Tell us your thoughts on being the first to advance to the Round of 8.
I was pleased about the group that I was placed in. I'd anticipated that I would make it through, but I do feel disappointed in my performance today.
What didn't you like about your play?
It could have been because I was nervous about this being my first match in a while, but I made a lot of silly mistakes. I took a lot of unnecessary damage due to Queen and Zergling mismicro.
You've said before that you wanted to try facing Life.
I heard that Life was a good player, so I looked forward to a match with him. Also, because Life plays on ladder a lot, I've often met him there. When I played against him, I thought, "I can manage to win," and things went just as planned today.
In your first game against BBoongBBoong, you went for a risky all-in.
To be honest, I felt that it would be okay if I lost the first set. Whichever build I used didn't matter to me; I could even have done a 15-Hatch. I think that things turned out well for me in that game.
Even though you were ahead during the second set of your match against Life, you went for a Nydus Network.
I believed that I was at a disadvantage, so I chose to go for a Nydus. I think that was the wrong choice (laughs).
You selected Cloud Kingdom as your map after the games that you lost today. Was there any special reason for this?
I just picked the map that I was the best at.
Your next opponent is MC. What do you predict that the results will be?
I have beaten him 2-0 before, but I don't quite have a full grasp of MC's strategies. I don't know how things will go yet.
Your team has recently been on the upswing in Proleague.
The team atmosphere has been nice, and I've been feeling good as well. I was worried about my match being after the Chinese New Year holiday, but I pulled through with that good feeling.
With today's victory, you've secured a spot in Code S next season. What plans do you have to prepare for Heart of the Swarm?
The e-Sports Federation players started playing HotS first, so I think I'll have to go through their matches thoroughly. Realistically, I'll just have to keep on working hard.
Tell us anything more that you have to say.
I'm grateful to oDin for kindly getting me a hot pack, as well as to Sola, Park Jin-hyuk, and Lee Jae-hyun for helping me work out my build orders. I also want to send my thanks to my teammates for helping me with practice.
You advanced to the Round of 8 in 2nd place. Please tell us your thoughts.
Because I gained a lot of confidence during practice, I believed that I would win. I have to acknowledge that Life definitely outplayed me during my first match against him, and [when I lost,] I got the feeling that good Zerg players [like him] are on another level. I wanted to face him again in the final match, and I'm glad that that happened.
After the group nominations, people called your group the Group of Death. Did you expect to reach the quarterfinals?
I honestly didn't think that it would be easy. When I broke down after losing to Life and even ceded my first game against BBoongBBoong, a bunch of thoughts popped up in my head, such as Maybe my style is too worn-out and Is this how I'm going to be stopped? But I still felt that I could advance, whether in 1st or 2nd place, because I couldn't fail in PvZ.
You were placed at a disadvantage after you were hit with Life's Hydralisk attack.
It was my first time dealing with that build, but I was more surprised by the Mutalisks that came in after the Hydras. I knew that Life was a good player even back when I was in StarTale, but I didn't think he was this good.
In the losers' match, you defeated BBoongBBoong with a Void Ray-Carrier unit composition. Is there a reason why you went for Sky Toss?
It was Squirtle-hyung's build; when I was in StarTale, Squirtle would create builds and teach them to me. I used it because it counters defensive Zerg play.
You got revenge on Life in the last match, but in contrast to the first set that you won, you ceded the second set with little resistance.
Since I know Life's personality, I believed that he would absolutely use the same strategies. I told my coach and prepared for forceful games, and it did happen; I even predicted that he would 6 or 7 Pool during the second game, and he indeed chose to do so. In spite of that, I made too many mistakes. Even though it was the final series, my hands still hadn't loosened up and I couldn't micro properly, so I threw away my units. Because I hadn't been able to deal with my opponent's strategy even when I knew what it would be, I decided to give it my all during the third set.
The Sky Toss composition that you showed today looks like it'll be useful in Heart of the Swarm, too.
I don't know too well because I haven't played Heart of the Swarm yet, but I heard from players around me that Sky Toss is powerful in HotS. The build order was actually similar to the one from Wings of Liberty. If I get the chance, I think I'll try it in HotS in the future.
Your opponent in the quarterfinals is Curious, your former teammate.
Saying this might upset Curious-hyung, but up until now, I've blocked every path that was ahead of him. Curious said in his interview yesterday that he could win as long as Life wasn't his opponent. I feel a bit sad because I sort of feel like he's ignoring me, but since I'm friends with him, I'll play an exciting match and get in his way once again.
By reaching the quarterfinals, you've also secured your Code S spot for next season. How do you plan to prepare for Heart of the Swarm?
When I went from Brood War to StarCraft II, I thought If I keep playing, it'll click in my head one day as I practiced. I think it's the same way this time, too. I feel that if I prepare thoroughly, I'll be able to achieve good results.
Tell us anything more that you have to say.
I'm really thankful to s2-hyung, Soo-hyung, Dark, and Sacsri-hyung for helping me practice even though they had to prepare for Proleague. I'll return the favor once I return to the team house. I think that it was my Protoss hyungs' cheering that gave me strength. Rain-hyung told me that I would do well if I believed in myself, and I think that that's what happened.
Thanks for the translation, really appreciate your effort.
Roro actually surprised me with his cheese against B4; he used to be a player who would go safe builds every game, eschewing cheeses and greedy play, and getting 50% in all matchups. But it seems like he is poised to be one of the best players in SC2. Despite a torrid start to PL, he has leapfrogged to second place, just 1 win behind Flash.

This is highly unnecessary. Just post it when it comes out. Also, couple of hours? TIG is not that slow. It will come out in 20 minutes. 30 at latest. All you're doing is making a false promise. What if it's not up then? What if you forget about it or fall asleep?
What if Life doesn't advance? Damn, that would really make this a false mistake and I would be so upset.

I like to set up low expectations so that people are pleasantly surprised when I exceed them. Also it's good to let people know when to check back
e: Oops I forgot who the winner was, I even watched that last game before posting this. I was busy doing the translation but shame on me anyway

Overreaction much? o_O
How is this an overreaction? He's predicting ahead of time who's going to win and also predicting ahead of time when the interview will be coming out. Some people don't like that :/

Seeker, I feel that kind of criticism should be posted as a PM at least. You guys are(supposedly) working together to deliver a "product" (translated interviews). This reminds me of how I used to point at every single mistake my brother made when we were with other people, without the other people even noticing what I was talking about, instead of taking him aside and telling him directly. Just my 2 cents.
Personally, I don't mind at all if he says it's going to be up in 2 hours. I dont think as a reader this has any value whatsoever.
Thanks for the interview man, can't wait for Parting's one!

The tone seems very aggressive based on what you wrote (even if you didn't mean it to be) over some small detail
Weird debate. Personally, I think it was kind of bad of him to put the tidbit on Life's future interview because it might give the wrong impression that Life already won, for those who came in to check the result.

Edit - To clarify, not the rudeness but wozzot started(?) the war against each (trying to one up the other person) in interviews! Well I hope everyone gets along.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa. We're not in a war. We worked things out and we are working together. It was just a bad decision on my part. I've PMed him with my concerns so we won't be discussing it anymore in this thread.
Man, i really wanted life to get out.... didn't he lose in the round of 16 last time too? or was that the round of 32? i know this may sound crazy, but we may have found ourselves a new gatekeeper...

To me it looks like, as silly as it might sound, that DRG is our new gatekeeper he hasn't passed ro16 since forever.
GZ to Roro i had a feeling that he would upset (sad that B4 couldn't do it though ) gz to parting too!

Wait what? I'm not the OP of this thread.
He says that you often translate one interview and leave the others for later, but when someone else does it, you get mad. he probably doesn't understand that you were just upset about making false promises and that you just wanted things to run smoothly.

Oh I see. I wasn't really mad. I was just stating to wozzot that I didn't think it was a good idea for him to state who he thought was going to win as some people may not like that. I also stated that it is not really a wise idea to state when the next interview is going to be up.
Yes, I do translate one and then put up others later. I do not, however, state when I think they'll be put up. I just put them up once I'm done with it.
But seeing as how me continuing to talk about this keeps derailing the thread I'm going to drop it. I made a mistake by publicly bringing my own concerns to wozzot when I should have just PMed him to begin with.

To be fair, what wozzot does is no different than when you always used to add fake questions/answers to your translations.
Honestly Seeker you sound like a nerdy little bitch. It's great that you've found a little niche for yourself so that you can feel good about yourself but the most annoying thing in the world is attention seeking posts trying to defend yourself in your own threads. It's great that you're doing translations and all but please stop trying to make a big deal about it. Any nerd who knows a decent amount of Korean could easily take your place at any time, they just choose not to because honestly it's very time consuming.

i dont know but i feel like it would have been strange if he actually talked overconfident today in the interview. He got dismantle 2-0,fought a close 2-1 series with b4 and barely managed to pull through against. It would have been really strange and stupid to sound cocky in the interview afterwards lol
less pointless drama and more appreciation of parting's luxuriant blonde hair plz~

Considering the fact that they were able to come to an agreement regarding the "Translation alliance" or whatever it was they called it, and the fact that they both seem to joke around with each other a fair bit, I'd say it's not up to you or me or anyone but them to decide whether or not wozzot and Seeker are friendly. Besides, what does it even matter?

I cannot remember an interview where PartinG was disrespectful to other players... He is provocative time to time... And completely humble the rest of the time...
Hey translator's/Korean speakers, what is the "hyung" that is added onto some of the player's names? Is it a title? Like ____-san in Japanese? Also why is it only after some of them and not all? Just curious.
On topic, so jazzed that PartinG and MC made it through. Regardless of my preference for players, the relatively even race distribution in Ro8 is so satisfying to see and no mirrors! Gonna be a good few weeks of SC2 over at GomTV.
