He said back-to-back-to-back (so three in a row). In any case it seems clear that it was not meant to be presented as a fact to be taken literally, but rather in the sense that Life truly remained at the top for several months winning every major event he attended whereas MVP was on top for a longer time, but always had some loses between his wins. What does back-to-back even mean when there are tons of tournaments all over the world? What if you miss a tournament does that break your streak, what tournaments count? (MLG? Assembly? IEM? Iron Squid?) In any case when was MVP a back-to-back champion? I'm pretty sure it never happened in the GSL at least.

After his first GSL win, MVP had a slump for several months before coming back and dominating. As I understand it, the point was that Life took a GSL title, then immediately won an overseas endurance tournament, and has continued to play at an extremely high level. But I don't know enough Starcraft history to know if anyone's had a similar trajectory.

MMA was probably closest (GSL October 2011, GSL Blizzard Cup 2011, IEM Kiev) but I'd put Life's run ahead of him. We haven't seen this kind of dominance in Starcraft 2 yet. It's very interesting to follow. Anyway, great video by Redbull. Life needs more hype when he can get it, I feel like we could be watching something special.
