Since the award seems like it's just some sort of informal thing voted on by a couple of Korean guys, they probably just went with the one who made the strongest impression. It's not like being the MVP for the first round of Proleague is either some subtle backhanded insult by Korean sports writers or a vast conspiracy to nominate a foreigner to inflate stream views. It seems much more likely that a foreigner winning a Proleague match is much more "news" than the guys they've known for a long time crushing nerds as usual. Hence, the award.
