nice interviews...

not one mention any where on the NASL web site that the prize pool was $60,000.
The news item about Liquid^Hero's win makes no mention of any prize money.

No, just no...

To make such a comment as a Starcraft 2 personality just shows that some people completely disregard others' feelings. The reason I'm reacting to it is that I cannot fathom that she actually think Scarlett is a guy, which makes the comment a disgraceful thing to say. One of my main gripes in life are people who try to put down others and this is a very apparent example of that. Maybe she is very ignorant and didn't know, but there cannot come a good thing out of saying what she said in the interview.

It's not a big deal, no sponsors should be called or anything. I'm not trying to create drama. But when she gets an outlet like that and spouts bullshit, being called out on it should be expected.

Oh and you equating that situation with the other silly things people have mailed sponsors for doesn't really put you in a good light imo. Bullying and especially cyber-bullying is one of the bigger social problems we face nowadays, just imagine how much shit Scarlett has to go through on a regular basis. Those kinds of comments doesn't exactly help that.

i post about serious things, including this.

produce an NASL link ... rather than attack the comment.
i recall Gretorp tweeting "10K" in a message and that's about it dude; i've seen nothing else from NASL about prize money.
Liquipedia editors have already commented that it was impossible to get prize pool info from NASL staff members before the event and only are going bye a single brief 5 second comment made during a 10 hour broadcast
do u have anything to add ?

No one from Liquipedia contacted me to ask about prize money, and I think most those guys know me well enough to do so.

Our prize pool was never a secret. Why is this an issue?

Great interviews HotBid. Soe is a gem. Lauren's interview was hilarious. I'm still laughing about the Satan joke and 16:30. Well played HotBid. Well played.

Edit: I wonder if Lauren was referring to LeiYa as the other female progamer? She is on Root and probably talks with Rotterdam?

Hot_Bid has reached the point at which he has to qualify everything he says if it sounds like it's moderately unrealistic, which makes it all the funnier. Case in point: We Bought as Zoo. I'm pretty sure I'd end up throttling Hot_Bid if he interviewed me, I'd be so frustrated :D

"The joke" <-------------------

"Your head" <------------------

Erm... While I like your creative way of saying the joke went over my head, the content of that is quite miss-guided. That's partly my fault.

I did not perceive his post to be sincere, in fact I assumed it was sarcastic and defended why I don't think this is a laughing matter. To the end of the post you can see that I wrote he shouldn't equate the stuff both of us think are overreactions from the community, with the point I was making.

Where we disagree is that he doesn't think my post presented a legitimate gripe, which then made him write sarcastically that we should email sponsors because of it. I didn't think it was a laughing matter, he did.

So in reality, this is the current situation:

"The point" <--------

"Your head" <------

You understood that Cloud was being sarcastic, but you didn't thoroughly read through my post to identify that I too realized he was in fact being sarcastic, and that I didn't appreciate that fact, thus I wrote my response.

Spouts bullshit? She genuinely didn't know. Quit trying to white knight for Scarlett when it isn't warranted.

And I though Hot_Bid was a girl before these interviews. The more you know, huh?

No, what I find disgusting is the clear ignorance she displays, and the audacity she has to display that ignorance in an interview a large amount of people, including Scarlett, could well see.

How is it a bad thing? What if they were talking about Zergs, Scarlett specifically, and Lauren instead asked, "Wait, Scarlett is a Zerg?"?

What Jibba?

Im fairly sure that Tolkien himself refuted the theory that Middle Earth was a sort of representation of World War 2, as journalists kept drawing similarities between the two.

These are his exact words on the matter:

Show nested quote +
"As for any inner meaning or 'message', it has in the intention of the author none. It is neither allegorical nor topical. As the story grew it put down roots (into the past) and threw out unexpected branches."

Tolkien's issue with allegory was largely semantics and personal (he hated attributing anything to allegory, even when it was with other authors.) Instead, he called it 'applicability'. We know he was influenced heavily by his time in WWI and his son's in WWII, and we know the period of 1938 is at least partially represented by the looming darkness in the stories, and I think there's fair comparisons to be made, based on his letters, between things like the Nazgul and burgeoning air power. He refused to call it allegory because it would pin down the story to a specific point in time, whereas he liked to think of his story being applicable at many points of history. Still, he drew upon the history of WWI and II heavily for the story and was using it to create a mythology for England.

The greater point being that it's not like fantasy detached from real life. Even if it wasn't meant to represent real life, it was heavily inspired by it. I kind of think it's what he hoped real life would've been like - the allies destroying their ultimate weapon rather than using it.

You presenting "she genuinely didn't know" as fact is not any better then me presenting that she did as fact....Oh wait, I didn't...

I do find it hard to believe a person who's been employed full time in Esports, specifically Starcraft 2, for quite a while, don't know who Scarlett is. Oh and she did claim to know who she was as well. Even if she didn't know, it was a borderline moronic comment that could not do any good no matter the answer to her question.

So 1 guy, who I would like to point out has no position of importance within the hierarchy of Liquipedia, says that when he and a few others who did some work on a page anyone could edit couldn't find a source for the prize pool, that means there isn't one? That's....just wrong.
