IEG seems to be legit in wanting to provide a good broadcast for the global scene and it's a shame things are off to a rough start. I'll be casting the Proleague opener with Monte Cristo on their stream tomorrow as a favor to them and Kespa from OGN.

Game on.

I like you, keep it up dude.

Glad you'll get to cast the opener at least. Looking forward to it, good luck going forward dude.

I should come clarify this actually, just stumbled across this after wanting to read DoA's post he just tweeted.

IEG approached me about it and were very charming about the whole process, no bad blood at all from my end. Despite enjoying the idea of casting in Korea, and especially a Team League, I have a lot of loyalty to a company (ESL) that picked me up and in essence, took a risk with a no-namer at the time. I adore working for ESL because of the freedom they give me to pursue all aspects of casting I deem necessary in order to further myself. I'm not saying working at IEG/KeSPA wouldn't have, and if they'd have approached me at another time in my Career then maybe it would have been an option, but for now, if I were to just pack up and leave to Korea, I would have to face the adaptation to a new culture, I would be burning bridges with commitments I have in EU etc. This decision was running rampant in my mind for the past few days but, someday i'll get to go to Korea to cast so all is good : )

There's plenty more reasons but no real need to divulge such minor information.

Understood. You are one of the best caster analysts we have out there. Keep up the good work!

So Doa and Monte rescues Kespa when they realized they made a huge mistake yet Kespa tries to save face by attacking the very people that saved their hides. Good on you kespa.

snip

The association and IEG are urgently putting together the resources for an English broadcast, and are doing their best to not only reach a satisfactory agreement with OnGameNet, but also ensure and unhindered broadcast.

Combining that with Doa saying he'll cast opening day matches, can I conclude we only get English for the opening day matches from Doa, then nothing until they get their production ready and find casters willing to work for them?

Am I on the right page here? They're certainly trying to spin this and present it like less of a clusterfuck than it truly is. OGN was ready to go, I guess the idea was to pressure OGN into stricter terms and conditions? I feel like kespa was using us as some kind of leverage.. I don't know, it's hard to tell what's what.

So let me get this straight. DoA is supposed to cast the English PL, based on an agreement between OGN (DoA's employer) and KeSPA (PL owner). He has been preparing for the cast for a long time.

Two days before the PL starts, negotiations between OGN and KeSPA break down, as KeSPA wanted to have their own additional caster, and wanted to produce the English broadcast through their proxy company, IEG.

As a result, OGN decides to walk away from the altered deal. DoA makes a post about how there will be no OGN-run English broadcast. This causes a community uproar, especially as a lot of people mistook it for "there will be no English broadcast" instead of "no OGN-run English broadcast".

KeSPA then throws a fit, slanders DoA, and pretty much confirms everything above - that OGN is not doing the English broadcast, and only gonna provide the video feed, that there are ongoing conflicts between KeSPA/OGN/IEG.

Finally, KeSPA later confirms there will be English cast, done by who-knows-who, using the OGN produced video. All this happening within 48 hours before the actual event.

And it's somehow all DoA's fault?

Yeah right, I know where I'm on this one.

A quick Google suggests that they were somehow involved with the CPL(Cyberathlete Professional League), were tied to the MvP Invitational, and have been active in removing Downfall parody videos (what?). Also, weren't they somehow involved with eSTRO? And is this all the same IEG/

Kespa is the biggest bunch of backalley snakes from what I can tell. I bet DoA had it right on the money, they just like to cover their asses whenever possible. Yeah okay Kespa.... you guys are perfect and everyone else are the ones who mess things up.... okay.

Haha, please tell me that's not true because I feel like I'm getting cast for the sequel of jaws 2.

This, basically. I have far more faith in Doa than I do in Kespa. Doa has tried time and again to bring viewers good content and has made such huge efforts to grow SC2 amongst foreign fans. Kespa, on the other hand, is known to try to rule everything SC related with an iron fist and is concerned solely with their own agenda.
I back Doa 100% on this and find it hilarious than Kespa still has credibility with anyone.

Oh. Okay. Kind of boggles my mind sometimes but people are entitled to their opinion I guess.

At the end of the day we have an English cast, which is a good thing. Looking forward to enjoying the games.
