No flash vs jaedong . so sad

on another note. i don't think egtl will do well in proleague if the matches are announced in advanced. the preparation of the kespa teams will demolish them.

Was hoping for HuK/IdrA/JD against Flash, but Flash v. Zenio will still be cool. Bogus v. Rain might be an awesome series. Also looking forward to Huk v. Crazy-Hydra.

I hope players still have theme songs.

If so, I hope Flying has changed his theme song from the atrocity that he used last season.

So are these simultaneous with one on OGN and one on SPOTV? Is SPOTV another TV channel? (new mbc perhaps?)

Oh God, EG-Liquid is gonna stomp KT. Flash v Zenio may be a Proleague win, but otherwise they all should lose

Because Liquid is only fielding 4 players in proleague and 2/4 players will be at nasl this weekend.

A shame TL-EG's roster will be incomplete for the opening match, but it will only get better.

Bogus vs Rain should be a pretty big match, the two elephants who made it to a GSL semifinal.

Also, I have a bad feeling that KT is gonna lose. What exactly is the format? Are all games played regardless of score, or does it end when one team get four wins?

Light didn't play in the Code A qualifiers for some reason it looks like. Which is weird since he was 5-1 in SC2 and looked to be one of the better Terrans for KeSPA.

Light didn't play in the Code A qualifiers for some reason it looks like. Which is weird since he was 5-1 in SC2 and looked to be one of the better Terrans for KeSPA.

He's still on the Woongjin roster apparently.

So I never watched proleague before. I searched for the website, but couldn't find it. Do they have a system like Gom where you can subscribe to get the vods, or is it live only for foreigners?

A shame TL-EG's roster will be incomplete for the opening match, but it will only get better.

True, when it is time for the all-kill rounds, Team Taeja TLEG will be quite powerful

I thought I read somewhere at least 1 of each race has to at least be in the line up

CJ has 4 Zergs and 2 Terran playing

Set 1: Flash < Caldeum > Zenio

Flash looked really good vs DRG in the recent MLG tourny. Zenio is a bit of an enigma and we haven't seen much of him recently but he still has decent chance.

Set 2: Wooki < Cloud Kingdom > JYP

PvP so not much to say here. Hopefully JYP got some good practice with HuK and HerO.

Set 3: Action < Antiga Shipyard > ThorZaIN

Good match up for T-Zain facing zerg on Antiga. However he lost to Nestea 0-2 recently in Iron Squid, so if Action is on that level he may lose.

Set 4: Stats < Ohana > Jaedong

Could go either way. Havn't seen any JD gameplay recently so idk how strong he is. Ohana prob favors Stats though.

Set 5: Crazy-Hydra < Bifrost > HuK

Hopefully HuK has a special build (other than 8gate) prepared for this map. If it goes to late game CH will prob win.

Set 6: Mind < Arkanoid > PuMa

TvT is Puma's strongest matchup by far. He should win this.

For this do the speak about keeping the matches equal? I mean rain and bogus vs each other seems to weird, when they could mop any of the other players.

Except for Zenio vs Flash I would say every one of those matchups is a coinflip. Thats why I figured EG/TL is the best team with there full roster there becuase I would favor there top 3 over almost every player on KeSPA teams.

Yo what happened to that rookie dude in KT from the hybrid season who played as their ace for a while in sc2, and then he was horrible in his BW matches because he must have been playing only sc2 ever since he got drafted by KT? Did he really just lose every advantage he had in terms of sc2 skill and everyone else got ahead of him just like that? O_o

Yeah I don't see Zenio winning. If Jaedong's ZvP is as good as MC claims (although MC could be one of the kings of hyperbole) then Jaedong definitely has a chance to win. The rest of the players on KT seemed to have struggled in the Code A qualifiers and I think Huk was able to beat Action last time. Idk if Crazy Hydra is any better but Huk could take that as well

So Thorzain is going straight to Korea, are Idra and Stephano going to be there right away too and they just weren't fielded for this?

Can't wait to see the full line-up in action, they should do pretty damn good I think.

EG-Liquid probably saving (T)Sea for the ace match?

You can reuse someone from first 6 sets in the ace so that shouldn't be it. Do we know what's actually up with Sea?

Finally, this is starting! Only two days left!
Khan fighting, RorO, Stork, JangBi, Reality.... Team8 doesn't stand a chance!

Oh and KT vs EG-TL will go into ace match with Flash, Action and Crazy-Hydra taking their matches. (Assuming JD will be able to beat won-won-won coming his way from Stats..)

I am very interested in Hwanni's decision if it comes to that - will he sent out JD as ace vs Flash...?

btw, so many sick matches on first two days (these are probably best):
Set 4: (T)Bogus < Ohana > (P)Rain
Set 2: (P)Trap < ClouD Kingdom > (Z)n.Die_soO
Set 2: (Z)Hydra < ClouD Kingdom > (P)Flying
Set 3: (T)Bbyong < Antiga Shipyard > (Z)Neo.G_Soulkey
Set 5: (T)BaBy < Arkanoid > (T)Reality

not to mention new maps! Fuck, I am so excited!

I thought Huk said he was going on vacation?
But still very glad to see him play!
Anyone knows at what time will start?
Thanks!

Sea will be participating in this proleague as he is listed on EG-Liquid's roster.

It's blind pick.
Roll the dice, hope you get meaningful pairs.
The only info coaches use is the maps. They try to pick a good player for the map, and possibly predict what player(s) could be chosen for that map by the other team.

new guy question: how are the players selected for each map? do both teams decide independently or what? do they know which map they are sending each player to ahead of time?

If EG vs KT somehow reaches ace match, EG better send out Jaedong against Flash. If they don't, I'll... unlike them on Facebook or something.

No he's pretty good. I swear he wins every zvz I've watched of his. Unfortunately he didn't get that but I'm sure he's still alright :D

Ye they know the map ahead of time but both teams choose their player without knowing who they other team chose.

no idea on Caldeum map balance but it's a good matchup for Flash

Zenio isn't a very remarkable Zerg

Yes, they know the maps, but not which players the other team sends. They just send a list of 6 players, one for each map, and cross their fingers to get good pairing.

A quick question of my own, sorry if it's already been answered.

Will they always play out the first 6 sets, no matter what? Or will they stop as soon as one team gets 4 wins?

Looks like Team 8 picked up a couple of protoss players. (P)Haruhi and (P)Sherry?
Also, (T)DeMusliM isn't on the EG-Liquid roster, is he still not "confirmed"?

Jaedong wishes the opening game was vs Flash in his interview with Thisisgame. Flash probably would enjoy that too. The other 6 teams probably wouldn't mind. The teams of EGTL and KT could enjoy additional interest to them and to this match. Kespa/Proleague could enjoy additional interest.

Given all this, why not make it happen, just this one time? Just get agreement between all these parties and switch up Zenio and Jaedong? It's only for this one game, the opening game.

What if the one of the coaches disagree?

It will always be possible that it goes 3-3 and Flash and Jaedong meets in the ACE match. Would be way more awesome :D

They won't send them for the ace match, particularly not Jaedong. Flash is more likely, yes.

Anyway, the opening game is very important for first impression. Everyone remembers how GOM made it so that Idra would play in the first game ever of the very first GSL.

TBH looking at the line-ups, it almost feels like a Flash v JD ACE was planned /tinfoilhat.

Makes sense putting Puma as team captain- He isn't the best player but he is good and knows all the players well. Cannot wait to see Huk destroy Crazy-Hydra. JYP should not lose his match- His PvP is stellar!

Don't count HuK out... He played Action (Hydra's teammate/T-funk's opponent) at the Code A Preliminaries and 2-0'd him...

EG-TL actually got a good chance for the proleague, with teaja comming back as the ace later.

Kinda sad that TL is not going to send people like ret, tlo.. or bringing someone like Nony as a coach ( same for incontrol, could be a awesome coach for the team )

Yes it's English, DoA and MonteCristo will cast... The latter is OGN's LoL caster that will replace Moletrap because everyone and their mom was complaining about how bad Moletrap was when he casted the OSL.

Awww yeehhh SPL begins again. lets see it SKT T1. Want to see how Bisu and Best are doing, and of course da man Jung Myung Hoon

Also shame on EG, Jaedong interviewed that he wants to face Flash pening match, KT responds and schedules Flash 1st, and they send Zenio T_T. Now its just a regular FvZ, where he stomps.

Although this is only for weekend matches, we dont have any info on weekday matches. Also dont have any info about the access to the VoDs (I guess they will be paid, the question is how much).

EDIT: DoA + Montecristo cannot cast weekday Proleague, since they are casting OGN LoL at that time.

I have a feeling this will be EG-TL's only chance to take the whole thing.
Once the kespa player have more seasons under their belt it will be good ol korean domination.

Huk PvZ? Thorzain TvZ? No... Did you watch Thorzain's games on Iron Squid today?

Jaedong plays on Ohana, he could get Immortal Sentry all inned, he's lost to it on that map before.

I don't know how good Wooki is compared to JYP but PvP is PvP, nothing would surprise me.

Flash will for sure stomp Zenio. Puma has done nothing lately, it's hard to say where he's at but so far Kespa players have looked best in their mirror matchup for some reason against Esf guys.

Overall I say KT will take it.

Flash will for sure stomp Zenio. Puma has done nothing lately, it's hard to say where he's at but so far Kespa players have looked best in their mirror matchup for some reason against Esf guys.

Overall I say KT will take it.

So Action is as good as Violet and Nestea now? and Crazy-Hydra has become amazing as well? Huk just got top 16 in a stacked IPL5 tournament. He's been playing better as of late. I like his chances. Thorzains too.

EG-TL without Hero, Taeja and Stephano is pretty sad.
Those are their currently three best players.

Huk PvZ? Thorzain TvZ? No... Did you watch Thorzain's games on Iron Squid today?

Overall I say KT will take it.

Ehh Thorzain just kind of randomly goes gosu mode and wins against incredible odds more than most foreigners. Would watch out for him.

His TvZ was actually good in Iron Squid compared to how it usually is imo. Seems to have lost that frustrating spoon terran syndrome he used to have in the mu.

Is this english stream? Who is casting?

Yes it's English, DoA and MonteCristo will cast... The latter is OGN's LoL caster that will replace Moletrap because everyone and their mom was complaining about how bad Moletrap was when he casted the OSL.

It's $6 a month to watch in HD and VODs (360p live is free)... The majority of your questions are all found on the twitch page...

edit - If you want an idea of how good these players are, look for them in the most recent Code A Preliminary here: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/2012_Global_StarCraft_II_League_Season_5/Preliminaries

Well, this is for their channel, which means LoL + half of the Proleague. I have no interest in LoL, but I would like to watch complete Proleague...

This could go either way. Flash vs Zenio looks pretty clear but don´t forget it is bo1 and its a map without 1000 games of pro experience. Zenio is the korean TLO he could play some wired stuff and catch flash off guard.

In this match it will come down to JYP, Puma and JD to win their matches and bring it to an ace. I don´t think it will be 5-1 or 6-0

Long term the success of TL-EG will be question arround 2 things: are HerO and Teaja able to have a positive winrate (without i don´t have much hope for this team) and are JYP Puma and Stephano able to do well in an all korean environment.

Yes, they know the maps, but not which players the other team sends. They just send a list of 6 players, one for each map, and cross their fingers.

Awesome, thank you. where do I go to watch? I've been subscribing to Gom for a couple of years now, but can't find a similar website for the Kespa league
These guys talked about it:

Also check:

But it seems there won't be free HD and free VODs. And even possible to have to subscribe both to OGN and to SPOTV separately. We'll see.

Here's the KT Rolster Code A & Preliminary records vs the race they're facing:

+ Show Spoiler [stats] +
Flash - 2-0 IMhorror, 2-0 soO, 1-0 Sirius - Looks like Flash will take it.

Wooki - 2-0 Lucete - JYP is pretty good in PvP, don't know about this one.

Action - 2-0 unknown Korean Terran - don't know about this one. ThorZaIN is probably better than an unknown Korean Terran...

Stats - 0-2 Salmosa (ex-Prime) - Looks like Jaedong can take this if he's as good as MC says he is.

Crazy-Hydra - 1-2 STBrain - Looks like HuK will take it (Based on Action's ZvP results [0-2 HuK] ^^)

Mind - no results, lost 0-2 to San in the first round... PuMa vs. Terran, PuMa will probably take it...

KT 1 - 3 EG (2 questionable results.)

Isn't Airforce Ace participating this PL? I knew they were closing down, but I thought they would be active for another year or so?

From what I understood from the article when they announced the disbandment, all (or most) of their players will be gone within the next year (during the season) so they had to withdraw from the league... Unless I'm mistaken.

nice. we know the full rosters. If fantasy proleague can be set up by end of day tomorrow. that'll still give us over 24 hours to draft teams. Oh god please do this. I've been so sad that fantasy GSTL couldn't be done after the one fantasy season. I need more trophy icons next to my name XD

what are the chances of PuMa playing Flash in ace match? Former practice partner vs the master.. but not sure if PuMa's nerves can handle it. Love that he's the captain though, he was EG's ace for a long time.

Also, no Sea? He is a team league legend right? I guess EG wants to try to take this one on nearly single handed. Hopefully it's just an adjustment thing and they aren't going to throw in just one token TLer per match, because I don't see them winning often on the strength of their own players.

Still Zenio vs Flash is a good way to kick off the season.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that they stopped revealing the lineups in advance in order to prevent match fixing. I guess they think that the extra hype is worth the risk.

What?! No Taeja, Hero, or Stephano

We've known this since the date for the match was released... Stephano is in France for a week or two and TaeJa/HerO will be at NASL Finals the day of the match...

EDIT - Add this to the OP if you can - THIS IS HOW YOU WATCH PROLEAGUE. twitch.tv/ongamenet

Is this english stream? Who is casting?

Yes it's English, DoA and MonteCristo will cast... The latter is OGN's LoL caster that will replace Moletrap because everyone and their mom was complaining about how bad Moletrap was when he casted the OSL.

Are you sure they wont upload the vods to the esportstv youtube channel

Depends on what you call PL... the old Hexatron had lots of foreigners (Legionnaire once all-killed Toona SG, I think?)

Pretty confident with Flash v Zenio after his games against DRG. Seemed like he had it under control IMO. Never liked P7GAB back in BW, but I haven't seen him in action so far. Didn't catch mutch of last season's proleague. ThorZaIN's TvZ is quite solid, so I'm guessing he could take out Action. JD has been lacking so badly since the switch, So Stats'll do him in. Hope we get to see Mind v PuMa, that should be good. Mind wasn't the best TvTer back in the day, but he was good enough. SHould beat PuMa now.

I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE BISU!

Also, Bogus v Rain should be sooooo good.

Does anybody know the time the EG-TL vs KT is going to start off?
Should be 13.00 KST right?

The lineup for EG-TL doesn't look particularly strong for the first match.
However I don't really know the quality of KT's roster, except for Flash...we'll see.

You're kind of surprised that they put players on specific maps knowing only the map and not knowing the player the opposing team will also put on the map?

Yep. Saturday, Dec 08 3:00am GMT (GMT+00:00) and Sunday, Dec 09 3:00am GMT (GMT+00:00). I'd prefer it if it was either 3-4 hours later or earlier... oh well, there are too many timezones T_T

As a Liquid fan, I kinda think the first match we are very likely to lose to KT due to experience and maps. I believe KT got to practice on new maps longer + the TL-EG team just got set up so everything is not fit in place yet.

Flash > Zenio
Wooki < JYP
Action < Thorzane (two possible win for EG-TL since one is PvP and another is TvZ on Antiga)
Stats = Jaedong (No clue who would win but it's Ohana so I would say Stats has advantage).
Crazy-Hydra > Huk (New Map and Huk is not performing very well lately)
Mind > PuMa (No idea how good Mind is but PuMa does not really show any result right now and it's a new map).

So I would say it depends on Jaedong's performance on Ohana that would lead EG-TL to victory the first week.

I'm really looking forward to the TvT on Arkanoid between Puma and Mind, also Thorzain vs Action on Antiga. HuK vs CH on Bifrost too, damn. Dear vs Bisu Caldeum, Bogus vs Rain Ohana, Hyvva vs Best Bifrost and another TvT on Arkanoid with Classic and Fanta.

Opening day is gonna be gooood.

Jaedong playing for EG-TL is going to be so weird.

I would be looking forward to that TvT if i knew what shape puma is in right now. I haven't seen him play any broadcasted games for what feels like months. Wonder what that's all about...

Opening day is gonna be gooood.

Jaedong playing for EG-TL is going to be so weird.

Oh hey it looks like Ssak retired, that's too bad.

I would be looking forward to that TvT if i knew what shape puma is in right now. I haven't seen him play any broadcasted games for what feels like months. Wonder what that's all about...

He had some injury (I think an eye one), they mentioned it on NASL a couple of weeks back, hope he is back in some form now.

Wait is Dark seriously not on the playing roster for SKT? Why did they even get him if he's not going to play PL ...

I don't think you should underestimate any Kespa player. Those players might not have been top tier in BW but everything changes in SC2. Jaedong hasnt showed anything in SC2, yet people assume that he will be the monster he was in BW. He needs to show this to everyone first. The same goes for the whole T8 lineup! they all get a fresh start with showing their SC2 skills. Some of them might be better at SC2 than BW. Time will show how good these teams truly are.

Having never followed BW, why do people who root for a particular team root for that team?

I used to root for TSL in the GSL because I really liked their line-up and coach.

If you have a favorite player, you tend to root for that team.

(T)Fantasy is my favorite player, so I will always root for SKT1. I will root for EG-Liquid too because of the strides they have made in foreign scene.

Its so weird seeing Boxer as head coach in a team league with Jaedong on a foreign team. Its just really hard to get my mind around its so weird. Is it a problem that SKT1 and Samsung Khan having such small squads compared to the other teams?

Hmm, thanks for the answers.

I saw that Clide is a coach for KT-Rolster and with Flash I think I know who I'm rooting for.

Most of the team are unknowns to me but that's not a bad thing, getting to know players is fun too

I'd be most worried about Team 8. Losing their biggest name and only left with nine players. It's not like KeSPA or the other teams would let the 8th team die, but they are still likely to have rough time.

Also, Rain vs Bogus, who isn't excited for that? Two of the best KeSPA players.

I´d love to see EGTL winning this match, but are they?

flash vs zenio: race favours zenio, flash might be the slightly better player: 0-1 (but as good as 50/50)
wooki vs JYP: JYP has a good shot on this, his pvp is better than his tvp an worse his zvp: 0-2
action vs ThorZaIN: zvt is zerg-ground, T-Zain will not change this. action is good enough: 1-2
stats vs Jaedong: Ohana is perfect for toss all-ins. JD is not the beast as he was in BW: 2-2
crazyhydra vs HuK: HuK did so perfectly well at IPL 5, but he loses against top-zergs: 3-2
Mind vs Puma: Puma is not on top atm. Demus TvT is much better: 4-2

I hope im wrong!
KeSPA: Please give us an english broadcast!!

Seems kind of pointless to team up and enter when most of the actually good players aren't going to be playing (Taeja, Stephano, Hero). Both teams should cut the B level players (AKA the majority) and try for more Koreans.

EG-TL will have a huge disadvantage in that their opponents will have tons of vods to study. The KESPA coaches will have them figured out so much they'll find out what EG-TL had for breakfast if they have to.

I am also another person who does not know a lot about the kespa teams since i never watched pro BW. is there any way someone could give me like a general comparison to relate a kespa team to an esf team (for example, skt is like? ) or are the teams too different to do that? Im not sure who to cheer for besides EG-TL because i only know the really obvious kespa players ^^

SKT = Slayers + IM or startale, take your pick, oldest most achieving and iconic in terms of team leagues, also has star players that can go deep in individual leagues in fantasy / bisu (buy from MBC Game hero) / best.

KT = rival to SKT, take your pick of Startale / IM rivalries, or EG. Has traditionally had really great rosters and player (Nada, yellow, Nal_ra, Reach) buys but always failed to capture league wins or individual league wins (KT academy curse) until flash came through.

MBC Game Hero = (take your pick of teams that lost star players) Had alot of potential when they had both Sea, Light, and Bisu at one point, but light and bisu got bought out to other teams and they never captured another team league win again. Now defunct

Woongjin Stars = (Acer?) Strong Zergs traditionally in Zero / Soulkey and strong TvZ player light who was a buy from MBC Game Hero, they also had decent protoss' in free, their terran line is usually regarded as an in-joke because they were terrible. This is contrasted with:

Samsung Khan = (Hard to say which team has the strongest protoss' since there's only been 2 GSL protoss champions in SC2) Strong protoss' traditionally in Stork / Jangbi with good rookie terran reality, Stork and Jangbi are both strong contenders for individual leagues.

CJ Entus = (IM in team league) has extremely "deep" line up with the most consistent A level players in Leta, Skyhigh, Effort, Movie, etc who are all championship material, but never manages to pull through in team leagues. CJ also has exception zergs in Effort / Savior that has a rivalry with Woongjin for strongest individual zergs.

Hwaseung OZ = I guess TL since Taeja / hero used to carry them? Need I say more?, now defunct.

STX Soul = Take your pick of underdog team. You would be hard pressed to find fans of STX, their most consistent player now is Bogus and some promising rookies in Mini and couple of others.

WemadeFox = Used to house some notable players such as Roro, Mind, Rock and is one of the older teams, but is now defunct.

Airforce Ace = There isn't a comparable example. Special team for retiring players and people going through the military term requirements in Korea, made by boxer. Hosted alot of past famous players like Iris, Midas, firebathero, etc. Now defunct.

Team 8 = Used to be the dream team and now all hopes are gone, so I guess slayers in SC2 up to dissolving? The merger between all the star players from WemadeFox, MBCGame Hero, and Hwaseung OZ. Had Sea / Jaedong / Baby / Jaehoon. But now is in dire straits.

Usually the team leagues are tiered off like this:

SKT / KT + CJ = tier 1 / 1.5
Khan / Stars = tier 2
Hero / OZ / Soul / Fox = tier 2.5
Airforce Ace = tier 3 but everyone loves ace.

and team 8 i dont even know.

Quoting this cuz it seems unfortunate for such a nice post to get buried at the bottom of a page.

Also tiny caveat that we (CJ) totally won last season. :D But yeah your point still very much stands. And I agree with much of this!

How do you know he was losing passion?

I'm sure a lot of KeSPA players lost their passion after they switched to SC2.

Please tell me where Bisu said he is losing passion.

When a player is losing his passion, generally he won't go out of his way to tell everyone...

The picks are made by both teams blind, as in they cant see what the other team's line up until both are revealed. Proleague match ups making and map analysis is one of the trade marks of the BW league, alot of mind games goes into it.

The coaches seem to be convinced that Arkanoid is a Terran map, we have 7 T and 1 Z sent out on it.

Other than that there's a real lack of mirror matchups, which is a problem PL used to have. Lots and lots of mirrors in the most recent PL seasons, we'll see how it develops.

So, what do you guys think about Set 5: (Z)hyvaa < Bifrost > (P)BeSt?
Is it a good idea to have hyvaa in my main team and Best in my anti-team? :D

iirc, the best choice for anti-team are bench-warmers :D
edit: I suggest you join the SKT hate train and put him in the anti-team anyways though

Wait, did Ssak retire or is that just a mistake on the SKT roster?

A piece of missed trivia:
Boxer personally selected Best as the captain of SKT this season, with the permission of the entire coaching staff, instead of letting the team vote on who the captain should be (S2 for last season). It's best's first time in his career to be the captain of SKT despite his performance in 2008.
