They know very little about Starcraft 2 as it is, and have a pro player on the show. "World Champion" is a lot more appealing to hear than "a starcraft 2 pro that hasn't won much of anything", especially considering the target audience probably finds sc2 quite unappealing to begin with.

The problem with the statement isn't that it's catering towards an audience that has no vested interest in the scene but rather the fact that it's an outright lie. (unless I'm missing out on something)

why people care that much about TLO being call world champion? people shoud focus about sc2 getting some exporture which been a while since the last tv show talk about it

Because there are so many inaccuracies thrown out by the media (especially those unfamiliar with the scene). They just don't get it and it's false advertising.

Exposure is great, but getting facts right is another.

TLO is a fine choice for the show. He is very manner and very professional with an inviting personality and perhaps no past controversies that can be brought up. Although he may not be as successful as someone like Stephano or MVP, he is a very well-rounded person to bring onto the show for the non-gaming audience.

not missing much actually. like 10 secs of TLO w/o sound showing greybeard host how to play one damn hard videogame. as well as 10 secs of TLO fingers moving fast on a keyboard.

pretty kewl nontheless that SC is getting on tv.
