I wonder how much it is going to be for the Europeans. 40 € as usual. As we all know: 1 $ = 1 € = 1 £ ;-) It will mostly be cheaper if you buy at a retailer. I got WOL for 39 € at release day. Yeah, Blizz sales their games for the recommended retail price. Retailers are cheaper in most cases. I'm going for the collector's edition so I'm gonna pay more anyway. It's still funny, that 1 $ is 1 € for Blizz. ^.^ It's an international standard, not just something blizzard came up with. It's retarded, yes. But it's a standard just about every single games company adheres to. Only exception i can think of is Gog.com, but those guys are basically the shining beacon of customer service in that regard. And Valve. Where everything is in Dollar. I don't know why no other company does it like that.
Business/political bullshit with retailers probably. Valve and gog.com are their own retailers and rely on digital distribution so they don't have to take that into account. Same reason why EU and NA release dates are often a couple days apart, because retailers in different countries have different standards on what day of the week a game should be released. It's ridiculous that digital distribution gets affected by this but it seems that retailers are in no hurry to change the current situation.

and some of you guys say paying 40 dollars for sc2 is too much? a game that you play for months/years ?
i dont understand
This. Also if it's too expensive for you -> Do not buy it, it's as simple as that.

I guess people are getting scared by high pricetags because of F2P games like dota and LoL popping up, even though the microtransactions in those games can easily exceed the price of a full game for some people. People are more inclined to pay small amounts of money many times for a small piece of content then they are willing to pay a big price up front and get everything, even though it'll be cheaper in the long run.

I hope we will get a pretty balanced and dynamic HotS. The price is okay, if the new feeling of the game is great I will buy it for sure.

oh yeah $35 is acceptable for this, i don't get it why u guys complained that price -.-

Here's a picture of what the Digital Deluxe Edition contains.

40$, that'll be 50€ in europe im pretty sure. well i can wait til the price gets lowered i guess

seems reasonable amount of time. wont be as balanced is as WoL now, but i still have faith in blizzard (last of the mohicans..)
and for the price.. im just happy to only have to buy it once, as opposed to the 3 59.99 copies of sc2 i bought :X

It's exactly what the Frozen Throne cost and it's exactly what every World of Warcraft expansion has cost.
Considering I'll be playing it for at least another two years and will probably throw at least a few hundred hours into it, it's an incredibly good value.
Or you could go buy any run of the mill console game for 30-60 bucks and play it for a weekend or two before beating it. Your choice I guess.

5 months to get the game right, hopefully it's enough

omg 55€ for the Digital Deluxe ... TEH FUCK?
|
Is it an expansion or a stand alone game from WoL?
|
A lot of people who are saying the single player is worthless are vastly overestimating the amount of people who play on ladder. For the majority of games the overwhelming majority of people play the single player campaign and thats it. I feel like SC2 has a higher % of people who play online but even at its highest its probably still less than or around half which means a major chunk of people are buying hots for just the campaign.

I love how everyone is complaining about the price as if it is a surprise. The price was announced a long time ago.

For all intents and purposes it will play like a standalone, in that it will have its own separate ladder and campaign but I am very sure you'll need Wings of Liberty installed in order to run it.

However, you can get the WoL+HotS bundle for only $60 apparently, but it looks like this deal is off of Battle.net directly and only if you don't already own WoL because I'm not getting this bundle option on my account.
