Still get all-killed by GuMiho.
Haha, the Nani rumours by Slasher. Thorin from Acer reports: .@NaNiwaSC2 is in discussions w/ teams. LG-IM, CLG, SK, clan Kapitol, DeathRow Manchester United and the Pittsburgh Penguins not bidding.
|
apparently Western Wolves let it slip that NaNiwa and Bischu (Dignitas player) had joined the team. NaNi denied it though.

Not the best time to look for a new team given the amount of top notch players as free agents.

True, but European players have a bit of an advantage because European organisations (of which there are A LOT), often prefer to recruit from within Europe due to how expensive Korean players can be (Employing a translator, flights from Korea to Europe and vice versa are expensive), communication barriers, and if need be, enforcement of contracts would be much easier within Europe itself.
Most European organisations only bring in one, or maybe two Koreans to bolster their roster, but still prefer their core to be European. Look at mouz, Acer, Alternate, mTw, Millenium, Dignitas, Western Wolves, Empire, Virtus.pro, RoX etc. Snute, Beastqt, TargA etc probably get several offers - whether they're acceptable is another thing.

@mikkmagro: I agree with you that European organizations prefer to sign European players but even then I think that the market is quite small. The Acer lineup looks pretty much set in stone, aTn has kept the same roster for 2 years now, mtw seems to stick with only supporting Dimaga etc. So at the moment It is unlikely that there are many spots left in those teams. I mean players like Sase, Naniwa, Targa and Morrow have been teamless for a while now and while it`s reasonable to assume that they`ll all land new deals sooner or later it just shows that there are probably only very few bidding wars currently happening. Also with roughly 6/7 Code S calibre players on the market, it could be tempting for the organisations you mentioned to simply invest their money into a Korean that pretty much guarantees to make it into the top4 in offline events.

Elfi's contract with ROG has ended
edit: per his stream

Azubu needs to think about opening an EU squad if this trend continues...

Not too sure..
mTw just lost SuperNova, so they might be trying to replace him. Alternate might lose ClouD if he decides to retire (though Alternate only seem interested in players who are eligible to play in the German EPS. NaNiwa has had offers, including EG and Dignitas, but they fell through. Since he left Quantic for greener pastures, I don't think he'll settle for a low salary. Empire have yet to replace VINES. RoX have yet to replace sLivko (though they probably only go for CIS players.) Virtus.pro are looking to recruit a whole new lineup. FXO Europe has the space, and probably the money to recruit some mid-tier European pros like Welmu or MorroW. Fnatic like to sign European talent at random. mouz probably want their legacy back. Absolute Legends want more SC2 players.
Then you have other European organisations which might try to enter the scene, like Na'Vi, Moscow 5, Team Infused, Team CoolerMaster, LemonDogs, Anexis etc
so yeah, there are opportunities i think

Really wonder who'd sign him instead now. I personally don't see any reason that a big team would sign him. He's just not top notch. Didn't really follow him but I think that he's not in the shape to sign with a big team, did he win anything "big" ? Would be interesting to know

Punisher retired according to Seeker's edit on wiki.

Hm sad, I saw him playing a lot vs TLO in the Korean ladder back then. He looked pretty promising.

The top tier Korean teams with at least one player at IPL5 were NSH, Prime, StarTale, IM, and MVP. One of them will be disbanding soon.™
+ Show Spoiler +Probably not IM or StarTale... My bets on NSH... They have 0 players in the GSL right now.
Also Mamuri and Venus were two lesser known members of TSL. You can add them to the list if you want.

It's pretty obvious at this point that if any Korean team would disband, it would be either NSH or Prime, and considering that at least Prime is still participating in competitions IPTL, GSL etc, and since they moved house just now (apparently), the logical conclusion would be NSH.

NSH is an academy team and they are supported by Western Wolves + you could see a lot of players in NSH shirts at GSL Blizzard Cup. As for Prime they have released news where they promote their streams, BBoong, AriA and Salmosa left the team and they have the smallest roster among korean teams.
P.S. The twitter news does not say anything aboud disbandment.

Yeah, I know, which is why I said "if any team had to disband"
Though LastShadow (who is currently living with MVP) stated that TSL would not be the last team to disband as another one would be following 'very soon'.

Oh no I always wanted NSH and Prime merged but it seems like it will never happen and one of them will just disband

Last shadow is a well-known stirrer and all round unreliable individual, mikkmagro. I wouldn't trust his word on this.

It's not like I take his word for it, but I really wouldn't be surprised if it happened, considering how expensive and demanding it is to maintain a pro team.

90% of the NA players in that list are ex quantic players
