I would like to update http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Kyhol will be departing from Its Gosu starting today. He is not looking for a team, but if someone wants to find him they can. He's just not focused on searching, so much as being searched for.

I don't know if some of these guys can really be considered pros: like Kyhol, Agh, Chance, Hashe. I think these guys are like high masters or very low GM, and in all honesty I think this thread could become very overwhelmed if some standards are not enforced. It could also be misleading to teams looking to pick up these players, as they may be hoping for more than they receive.

That's a rather ignorant post. I've put my time in and have achieved a lot on KR server and NA. Getting high on NA GM is easily achievable.
I don't actively play as often as I used to. I assume your perception of my play is greatly misinformed.
Wishing you well.

Why would you expect to go on this list if you don't play as actively as you used to? Professional gamers usually play fulltime or at least play a lot no? Why would you want a team to pick you up if you're not playing that much?

Also, I have not heard your name anywhere on NA recently, no tournaments or anything. In fact, I haven't heard your name at all recently.

Nothing against you personally, I just think this "Teamless Pros" list should probably have decently high standards

Whilst I agree with you, creating standards can be pretty hard, and may cause controversy and disagreements which are not the point of this thread :/

Very true, but I think that they should be created because it takes away from some of the credibility of the thread. If Illusion is placed in the same category as Kyhol and Hashe, I feel like it is just wrong.

You could create something like low-tier pros and high-tier pros, but again it may cause some controversy and disagreements like you said.

Why would he do that? This is an informative thread. Ie. who is teamless. If a team isn't willing to put in the effort to do some research or ask around about players, then it's probably not a team anyone wants to be a part of. While I agree that random masters/gm players shouldnt be on, these are players who were on teams. It's not like i'm in this thread (nor do i want to be or think i would be considered a pro).

just because a player is/was on a team does NOT make them a pro. Many players on teams do not get salaries whatsoever (even if they are somewhat notable teams). Many of the players on this list ARE in fact random masters/GM players.

You missed my point. He is not putting players into categories of skill, he is showing who was on a team and is now not on a team (teamless). This is an informative thread, not a thread that classifies players. IE. This is a list of players, not a classification of who is good and who is not or who is pro, by kanes definition, or who is not....If you do not consider these players pro's or the team that they were on then that is your opinion, but this thread is not based on your sole opinion. (ps. i likely would not either, but that is not the point of the thread)

I agree that it is an informative thread, but I completely disagree that he is not putting players into categories of skill. The thread title is "Teamless Pros", and solely based on this he is placing players into categories (that is, who is a pro and who is not). For example, if there was a gold player placed in this thread, surely there would be some controversy regarding his placement in here. That is because we are placing players into skill levels. I agree that it should not be placed on sole opinion, but instead on objective skill-level. Whether a player is pro or not is objective and not subjective.

Profession: A paid occupation, esp. one that involves prolonged training and a formal qualification.

I would argue that the aforementioned players are NOT pro.

Well, for example, TL's definition of a pro is someone who has made more than $1k in prize money. So, to say that is the definition, i think, is very subjective. And many many many players who the majority would consider pro, would not be pro by your definition.

I don't know if some of these guys can really be considered pros: like Kyhol... I think these guys are like high masters or very low GM

That's a rather ignorant post. I've put my time in and have achieved a lot on KR server and NA. Getting high on NA GM is easily achievable.
I don't actively play as often as I used to. I assume your perception of my play is greatly misinformed.

Well I do intend to limit the list to 'pros', but the definition can be wide, and I'm not ready to argue as to who should be, and who shouldn't be listed as long as one is at the very least remotely notable. For example, it is pretty obvious that AtSky, Neytpoh, Turuk, HasHe, ChAnce, PsY, Masterok, Arew, Maddelisk, Pyre etc are quite far from being on the same level as SaSe, NaNiwa or the Koreans, but where do you draw the line? They all played for well recognised teams in the past, even if they didn't receive a salary, most of the time that information is not public either way so I just give them the benefit of the doubt.

As i believe it should be. IMO, if they have a LP page (ie. TL considers them "pro" or noteworthy) then they could be listed. Either way, keep up the good work and thank you.

Would you mind directing me to that definition? I've never actually heard of or seen that particular one. Thank you

If the player hasn't retired and as long as they have been on a notable team in the past I don't think it's a big issue at all with them being on the list.
