Ok, can we all agree that Stephano was stupid not to check whether what he was saying was being streamed or not? If you don't get why some people are disturbed or offended, just forget about what he said. Just pretend that he's being punished by EG for his stupidity, which is well within their rights.

equating homosexuality with pedophilia, and you think you know the first thing about morality?

I think it's a step in the right direction, and having someone like Stephano being used as an Example is only going to spread the word even more. League owners don't have the right to punish a player if he made comments like that unless the comment was directed at the league themselves (such as the referee was stupid). However the club (in this case EG) can give out discipline punishment for any inappropriate comment player they owned make. So what EG doing is def heading toward the professional sportmanship. I still think there's a small amount of overreaction from people, but I agree some sort of action was needed to be taken. And footballer makes stupid comments all the time on their twitter, just less dry than stephano's. No, GSL and others reserve the right to hand infractions/suspensions for moral or professional misconduct.

If you want ESports to be treated seriously, then under circumstances should a renowned player say something so vulgar/inappropriate on a public forum. It's the same for all sports, so man up and see it as a good thing.

Pretty much this, and if the players don't coincide with said punishments then they will be unable to participate in their tournaments and any other tournament that collaborate with them.

I understand people have different sensitivities, but if you don't like that kind of humor, that is not the rest of the world's problem. I compare it with the guy tweeting about blowing up the airport in UK. He got into some nasty troubles for that one. I guess Stephano can in theory appeal...... The tweet was that the person was going to "destroy America" (i.e., party) and about "digging up Marilyn Monroe" (Family Guy). And as it happens, that was a model example of the inefficacy of the Homeland Security Agency. He spent some time in a cell and they were refused entrance to the country. Now, I don't personally think Family Guy is all that funny, but that didn't strike me as a proportionate response to referencing a TV show. So you can see why it's not necessary for Stephano to have you in stitches to defend him for saying random shit on battle.net. No, I was talking about another tweet.

Stupid american puritanism... That's just a joke, no matter.

so in France you always joke about raping 14 year olds? I used to respect France and French people, guess not anymore.
I mean in what world would stephano's "joke" be considered funny?

Rape is not fun. However, is having an intercourse (assuming it actually happened in the first place) with a 14 yo a moral offence is very doubtful. I understand that USA has some silly regulations on this topic though.
Stephano joke inappriopriate, especially as he is a public figure.
EG reaction way out of line.
cheers Furion

Just as a point - there's a rather massive row in Britain at the moment about one Jimmy Saville who really did do the kind of stuff Stephano was referencing. It is not out of line to knock him on his arse for this.

Although I agree with the punishment, it could be construed as funny to anyone in the world. It's nothing to do with French people, it's more to do with the persons background.
You sir, are the one who is ignorant.
