Conti : since you're sitting on a load of statistics, is it true that stream viewers keep dropping constantly?

Well, let's see.. These are the total numbers of viewers watching a SC2 player stream in a given month (so I'm excluding casters, events and other games):

sqlite> select log.game,sum(viewers) from log inner join dates on dates.d_id=log.d_id inner join players on players.p_id=log.p_id
where date>"2012-04" and date<"2012-05" and log.game="SC2" and players.streamertype="Player" group by log.game;
SC2|21975553
sqlite> select log.game,sum(viewers) from log inner join dates on dates.d_id=log.d_id inner join players on players.p_id=log.p_id
where date>"2012-05" and date<"2012-06" and log.game="SC2" and players.streamertype="Player" group by log.game;
SC2|16540003
sqlite> select log.game,sum(viewers) from log inner join dates on dates.d_id=log.d_id inner join players on players.p_id=log.p_id
where date>"2012-06" and date<"2012-07" and log.game="SC2" and players.streamertype="Player" group by log.game;
SC2|16310764
sqlite> select log.game,sum(viewers) from log inner join dates on dates.d_id=log.d_id inner join players on players.p_id=log.p_id
where date>"2012-07" and date<"2012-08" and log.game="SC2" and players.streamertype="Player" group by log.game;
SC2|15699150
sqlite> select log.game,sum(viewers) from log inner join dates on dates.d_id=log.d_id inner join players on players.p_id=log.p_id
where date>"2012-08" and date<"2012-09" and log.game="SC2" and players.streamertype="Player" group by log.game;

The numbers themselves don't really mean much, but they allow us to see a trend. And in this case we can see that the viewer numbers have been mostly steady in the last few months after a noticeable decline in May. Back then it has been speculated that Summer is to blame.

Of the Korean players on Korean teams you said DRG was the only one to make either list. I'm guessing you missed seed and Losira making 27th and 30th respectively on the average viewers list, unless due to sponsorship, LG IM is now considered a foreign team, if so my apologies. If you also meant only player to make BOTH lists my apologies as well, as those 2 only appeared on average viewer lists.

Whoops, my bad. You're quite right, somehow I missed the two IM players. I'll fix the OP. Still, there's less and less Korean team players streaming every month. :/

Guys do you know the numbrs of TSL4 streams? I'm under impression they dropeed quite significantly compared to other tournaments as well as TSL3.
Is it correct?

I don't have any numbers for TSL3, but here's the numbers for TSL4 so far:

sqlite> select events.name,avg(viewers) from log inner join events on events.e_id=log.e_id
where events.name>"TSL4 Round" and events.name<"TSL5" and log.p_id=5642 group by log.e_id;
TSL4 Round of 32 Day 1|17457.5714285714
TSL4 Round of 32 Day 2|21978.5555555556
TSL4 Round of 32 Day 3|15957.875
TSL4 Round of 32 Day 4|23352.0454545455
TSL4 Round of 16 Sunday|13474.6315789474
TSL4 Round of 16 Monday|16443.2272727273
TSL4 Round of 8 Day 1|8554.17647058824
TSL4 Round of 8 Day 2|13729.0476190476
TSL4 Semifinals|10622.4285714286
sqlite>

The numbers depend a lot on the competition. Going head-to-head with The International sure didn't help TSL's viewership.

Also, I'm sorry guys that I'm not presenting numbers like these in a more pretty format in the OP. Life's keeping me too busy to do that currently. :/

Nice work, Conti. I think the heading of your second table needs to change - you are comparing August figures to July rather than June?

First time I've seen someone notably smash Destiny's streaming time. Actually kind of surprised. 40+ is pretty impressive.

huess streaming from Korea gave Stephano quite the edge

I think being Stephano gave Stephano quite the edge. He would be by far #1 no matter where he streamed from.

he didnt release VoDs and was palying from Korea, so if you wanted to watch Stephano play you had to watch live even if someone you wanted to watch mroe was on tehy had VoDs you could check out

Stephano is consistently the most popular streamer no matter where he streams from - Korea, EU or NA. This past week he has been the most popular SC2 streamer while streaming from the EG House.

Amazing to see how well Apollo is doing too.

Thank you for your hard work and diligence despite rl obligations.

Perhaps I overlooked from where you get the viewer statistics, but are the viewer numbers solely taken from people who watch the stream via TL or does watching directly from TwitchTV, etc. count, as well?

Teamliquid takes the viewer numbers straight from the streaming sites, so it doesn't matter where you're watching the streams from. I could do the same to get slightly more accurate numbers, but that's way more work than just taking them straight from TL.

im pretty sure IdrA has beaten him more the Stephano beat IdrA Stephano won because you had to watch live you couldnt use VoDS so if IdrA and Stephano were streaming its smarter to watch Steph live then watch IdrAs vod

Like I said, Stephano is the most popular streamer. Idra is the second most. You can see the figures. http://sc2streamnumbers.com/

If they both stream at the same time from the EG Lair, you will see that their respective figures bear this out.
