Major was an extremely important pickup. Without him there is no way that Root would be able to get their coca through Mexico's dangerous borderlands into the US, he will use his extensive network to ensure safe transit of the cargo.

There is only one piece of the Puzzle missing. That is, you guessed it, CoCa. With him they can avoid arousing the suspicion of the law from continually talking about Coca, because they will think that they're just discussing the salary of their ace zerg.
