" It’s been a little over a year since we welcomed jEcho to our team. Previously with LagTT, Joseph Lopez showed a new kind of potential and atmospheric confidence that we had never seen before as he came aboard.
During his run in the recent ESEA season, he performed the most out of the entire team with a record of 10 wins and 1 loss. Beyond that, he was invited recently to participate in WCS Canada, coming close to defeating HuK in the lower bracket and is a constant participant in Playhem Opens coming in second place three times, only to have lost to some of the best Zergs around: TSL4 qualifying player, Hyun, and TSL player Revival.
jEcho has represented both Canada and Infinity Seven in the best way possible during his time on the team, his stream was a constant source of calm and tactile play, but also displayed knowledge and strategy before, during and after every match whether he was winning or losing.
About leaving the team jEcho had the following to say:
“I’ve been with Infinity Seven since the start and loved every second of my time there. As time progressed some players left and new players joined but no matter what it always felt like a family, B teamers and management included. I’m proud to have been a part of the journey to becoming a top 5 North American team. Unfortunately with my final year of school coming up goals for the future had to be changed. I’ll miss everyone on the team and wish them the best of luck in the future.”
It’s with a heavy heart that we say farewell to jEcho as he moves on to bolder endeavors and wish him the best of luck in whatever he does."

Good choice, have to respect it.
EDIT: it's a damn shame though
|
Hmm, interesting. Wonder why he left, quite a good zerg player, but I'm not sure if he's quite noticed enough to get something better than iS, which is pretty solid. GL to JEcho in the future.

Im assuming he left because of how busy he will be with school as said in the post. Maybe he doesn't feel right staying on the iS roster if he's incapable of giving 100% due to other commitments.

He made the right choice.
Best of luck to him.

He said it's going to be his last year of school which probably means hard classes and more workload so I think it's more of a priorities thing than being unsatisfied with iS.

I'm pretty sure a team like iS doesn't require you to play xx hours a day to stay on the team. Unless teams are paying you a salary on top of events, they're alright if you go inactive, you just won't go to events. I may be wrong, but I have a feeling JEcho didn't have a salary on iS.
|
What a shame, pretty sick zerg too
|
It's always sad when a player leaves a team. Best of luck to jEcho i hope we'll see more from him in the future!
|
Great player and great stream. Always commentates and is great for learning from. Wish him the best in whatever is next for him.
|
Does this mean he won't join another team most likely in the near future? Maybe he'll stop playing completely? That's really a shame, he improved quite a lot over the last time.
|
Sad to see him go, hopefully when school is over in a year he'll be back to be a part of the HotS squad.

He wants to focus more on school... It's not unheard of to quit gaming for real life things.
|
Hmm, his reason makes sense however he also did not say he was retiring, which leaves the door open to joining another team.
I have to say, there have been some interesting excuses by players recently for getting out of contracts. Like Crank leaving Slayers due to injury, but then continuing to play lots of Starcraft while publicly shopping himself to foreign teams (unless I am misunderstanding the situation).
|
Shame to see his go, but it looks like he is going to focus solely on school, so good for him. Maybe he can come back to the scene when he finishes school up.
|
jEcho is one of the biggest talents in the NA scene and was a always a bit underrated I feel. Hope to see him back after he finished school!

you would be misunderstanding the situation, my contract has been up for a couple weeks so i wasn't getting out of anything. Also i dont intend on quitting starcraft.
|
Jecho was one of the coolest guys in all of MLG. Super cordial...super talented, made me feel like I was his friend, even though I had never met him before. If there is justice in the universe, he will EASILY join any team he wants.

To me, it's disgusting that players feel like they have to make an excuse to leave a team in the first place. The fact that people seem to want to paint anyone that leaves a team looking for something better or more money as a villain is a bit depressing to players. (Not specifically talking about this situation).
|
): Worst article I ever had to write.
|
Like JEcho said, he will not be retiring and he did indeed leave on good terms (no drama here). Best of luck jo
|
sad to read, always thought he could have done a breakthrough to be one of the best NA players. But School goes first, its the right choice!

He's a good zerg player but he bad manners like crazy... every game is either gloating or raging. So I actually think that it will be good in some way for iS's image (although will lower their publicity)

He's been saying quite a few times, that he basically doesn't earn anything serious with streaming, despite his stream being one of the best, as he always explains and talks about the game, his decisions etc. unlike others who have not yet discovered the technology called microphone. But if you don't make any real money, it doesn'T make any sense to skip school /university or whatever else that's on the table for him and even team salaries are a joke for non-superstars.
So the right choice to fuck it and shift your focus on things that will allow you to buy food and shelter in the future :-D

Best of luck to jEcho in the future!
Can't wait to see where he goes next.

I'm a huge fan of jecho and his stream (awesome stuff). But I have seen him bm (i guess it depends on what you view as BM), I'm not sure how you could miss it if you watch his stream regularly. Some of it could have been justified by the other players interaction with him but it did go on. With that being said who cares? I like a player with some personality even if some people think its rude.

He probably said it because mastering a computer game does not necessarily create a strong foundation for your professional life. Your 20s are when you are learning the ropes and becoming seasoned in any professional endeavor -- transitioning from pro gamer into this world in your late 20s has proven difficult for some.
SC2 players are intelligent and capable though.
All the best jEcho.

I definitely see him going to a solid team considering his skill and market value.

This sucks! I have followed him and Infinity Seven for a while. I hope they find another good player to make up for him, and I hope everything works out for jEcho!

Good luck with all endeavors. Hope you still stream some!

Sad moment for eSport. But I thought he was the British sick up and coming Zerg who joined Dignitas recently. Haha guess I was wrong. Good luck to him in his endeavors, definitely one of the most talented players out there.

I guarantee you that there's a bunch of pros that you think are mannered, but aren't on ladder. Trust me from my ladder experience. Regardless, I wouldn't come out to a post about them and call them out like a jerk.

People who care about ladder BM are silly anyways, but claiming he is well mannered and whatnot is just incorrect, dont really see a problem if someone calls the player out for it. Certainly does not make them jerks.

Thank you for your time at iS jo, we'll miss you and best of luck <3

I think he made the right choice focusing on his last year of school then possibly coming back to the SC2 scene later.

true
then again I'm BM soooooooooooooo (especially to cheese/zergs :D). It's a frustrating game and nobody likes losing--- so long as respect is shown in tournaments that should be enough, unless you are professionally sponsored and whatnot. That's totally different, because then you represent your brand.
^to the above If it's not GoSu or x6, I'm thinking quantic.
|
I never understand why people post in a thread to tell the world someone bmed them on ladder. I pretty much think i bm'd everyone on ladder but most of everyone knows nobody ever means what they say on ladder, you meet them in RL its over. It's just frustration, gloating is a different story, that's just being a badass.
