God I hope we can see a jaedong vs DRG finals! BWs best zerg vs probably SC2s current best zerg, though in the end the match may turn into a cock fight :D

He's in the easiest (though that isn't saying much) bracket so I'm going to agree. I don't think any Kespa player is going to make it out though.
Expect the 100 Manner-MULES flying vs JD. This hopefully shows Blizzard that BW-Seeds was a bad Idea. I would be surprised if any BW-Scrub could take a Game of the Real Players.

WHOA did you just call JD a brood war scrub? I feel like calling 911 or something...
Looks like Parting vs SC will be the best match from this bracket. Though Reality vs Yugioh will be the most interesting to me, King of Code A vs the only Kespa player to qualify through the open.
Really excited for this, especially with the break from GSL coming up.
Do people think the VODs will be available for free, or for subscribers only? I always get individual league tickets so I'm hoping that won't mean no VODs for this, as I probably won't catch the live stream.

For special things like Cross Match they have been uploading 720p VODs to their youtube channel for everyone to see. Without reading anything my guess would be that it will be the same for this.

Don't know about the live stream, but the VODs themselves should be free for all, as this is WCS and not GSL.
Players from IM will have their team tags while others don't in many posts. In this post for example, IMmvp and IMhorror. But others like MC, doesn't have SK_MC.

I concur to this, also i would like to see the JD vs Alive, not even as JD crushing but i am more intrested on how he would do against a top GSL player. To me this will be a great indicator on JD's current level.
It's kind of depressing to see Kespa players matched up against such top tier players. I wish they would at least have some chance by facing the weaker players in the brackets :/

Polt vs MVP and Coca vs Seed are the only ones I'm looking forward to. The rest basically have a clear favourite (Leenock won't beat MC, dreamertt won't beat Genius) or don't have the star power to leave me interested (Miya v horror).
Don't know if many of the BW Kespa players will advance if any. Reality and herO perhaps the only feasible bets given Yugioh-not-in-qualifier-mode and PvP. I'll set aside a hat to eat if RorO, EffOrt, Soulkey, Jaedong or Sun advance. And whilst eating that hat I'll hopefully be impressed with their play as opposed to being unimpressed with the GSL player's play.

It's their guilds/clans from before joining a pro team. Most of SC2 players were in those too, if you check their TLPD ids you can see which.

All matches will be held at Mokdong Studios (the regular GSL Studio), including the finals I believe.
Other streaming platforms will be offering streams for this as well with a similar pricing model. Be careful: GOMTV.net tickets are not compatible with anything else than GOMTV.net streams/VODs

Alright, thanks guys! Hopefully I'll be free to watch these awesome matches
I wish all the WCS tournaments were broken up into several days and weren't hosted during other tournaments. It makes for a much higher quality event, and allows the players to actually perform instead of load up a game and hope for the best.

It seems to be that the top 10 GSL seeds were spread out across the bracket, then the remaining players were randomized. Don't quote me on that though.
I feel like Reality is the only kespa player who has a decent chance of advancing. Of course, anything can happen, but the kespa guys got some pretty bad draws for brackets
Jaedong and DongRaeGu are my favorites here - DRG might still be slumping after his GSTL and GSL shortcomings but if he's back I'm sure he'll carry a good bit of vengeance with him. Creator is good but I can't see him taking out a mentally stable DRG. aLive is also good but 1) his TvZ is less than stellar (although it has gotten better) and 2) it's Jaedong.

He'd want to play like 123123123x better than he did against Naniwa and MC, as that was some extremely mediocre ZvP play. Creator to crush if he doesn't step it up. Gogogogo Creator!

The protoss players are all favored in their matches (with the exception that if DRG is back, but I doubt that).
Looking forward for Leenock vs MC, hope he can pull it off.

Shows how low level Kespa players are right now. He can't even win with ZERG against Terran. I mean what the hell if Kespa can't win ZvT what can they hope to win.
They will catch up when pro league is done but not yet.
Tasteless and Artosis are not casting a single day of WCS? I don't usually complain about this stuff but come on...It's like they barely do anything these days.
I also find it a bit weird we have to pay 15$ ( the price of a whole GSL season which gets you way more content in comparison ) for a WCS event while every other WCS event has been completely free to watch.
Omigod, omigod, omigod Polt vs Mvp is going to be amazing, CoCa vs Seed is going to be amazing, Creator vs DRG is going to be amazing, HerO vs Effort is going to be amazing, aLive vs Jaedong will be amazing. This looks like the sickest WCS ever.

Free live low-quality streams of every match will be provided, which IIRC is more than could be said about WCS USA (though to be fair, that had twice as many players and was run during one weekend tournament event alongside another competition that had even more players).

Mehh a couple have managed a few upsets in qualifiers for this and WCG. I wouldn't be overly surprised if one or two can make it through the first round. I love Jaedong... but I don't see him being one of those players...

I don't have a problem with paying for WCS Korea since It's GOM produced and a month-long tournament I just don't think pricing it the same as a GSL season is fair, it should be 10$.
I thought people were seriously overestimating the kespa players at the initial switch, but I think because of that they are now being slightly underrated. They've had a little more time to start figuring things out now and I think a select few of them would have no trouble competing in code a. I'm not ready to start picking them to take matches off code s players but they definitely deserve a chance to show us what they can do thus far. Likely things won't pick up until pl ends and they can devote themselves entirely to sc2, should be both interesting and fun though.
These guys aren't ready for this, but they throw them in there just because they draw a crowd..
They put them in because they seeded the top ten gsl players so it only makes sense to seed some players from the other major Korean sc2 league (pl). Not to mention reality qualified through the offline prelims going through symbol, so maybe they're starting to catch up.

The gap is closing, and I think the best Kespa players might be able to compete with Code A players, especially in a BoX format with time to prepare (which brings more of their BW training/build planning/coaching experience into play). I wouldn't be too surprised to see 1-2 of them make it through the first round, but advancing much past that would be a pretty huge surprise.
Out of the kespa players I honestly think jaedong is the only one with any sort of realistic chance to make it far in this tournament, at least I want to see him get far. How awesome would it be if he wins it or at least makes the finals?

That's exactly how I see it. What I find interesting is that the kespa players that have been the most successful in sc2 thus far are not the ones anyone expected. Had you shown me these groups a year ago and told me to pick what kespa players I thought had the best shot to get through the first round I'd have taken Jaedong; Effort; and soulkey without hesitation, not my picks at the moment though.
On August 03 2012 05:41 TommyP wrote: Calling it right now...1 (yes one) Kespa player will advance, I know this is a bigger number than most think, but upsets can happen.
P.S. Why did they give 6 kespa invites when those spots couldve gone to players that are capable of making at least Ro16?
Because they gave the top ten gsl players (based on points) a seed. So it only makes sense to seed players from the other major pro sc2 (half sc2 anyway) league in Korea. Despite the clear skill gap it would still be rather unfair of Blizzard to play favorites with one league over the other. Not to mention it will draw a crowd, everyone wants to see Jaedong play as often as possible.

Yeah, that's just how it is with them these days. I like tastosis, but they do earn top dollar for working the least now. They do code S twice a week if that since sometimes they even miss that due to foreign tourneys. Wolfdor do Code A, GSTL, Up/Down and now WCS. Obviously you're right about their casting workload, but in tasteless' defense I don't know much about wolfdor's lives outside of the studio. I think tasteless considers himself busy because he's doing a lot of other things outside of casting. Don't forget it's not just his korean lessons, he and Artosis have a business to run as well.
This bracket is so stacked it's insane. The KeSPA players will definitely have a hard time qualifying and the only player I can see qualifying is Jaedong even though I'd like to see EffOrt he'd have to get extremely lucky with Hero and either DRG or Creator next round. Anways, the line-up looks too good to be true. I'm so stoked for this!

Out of all the KeSPA pros the only guy who has good chances is Jaedong. Considering how bad aLive does in TvZ and Jaedong being Jaedong... I guess he can take it. I got no idea how good will be Curious vs By.Sun, but I think that Curious is the big favorite there. Puzzle vs herO[jOin] might end up wierd. It's PvP after all. Neo.G_Soulkey just got the wrong opponent. If GuMiho will play as he did vs Slayers and how he played against DRG, he will mop the floor with the guy.

It's actually free for the ads version if you use the coupon code and 5$ more for the premium+ no ad version. If you qualified for the code, you should already have it in your gomtv account. You can check available coupons on the gomtv front page underneath the my updates sections. Thanks, I didn't know about the discount codes till reading this thread. To clarify, if you have both GSL/GSTL season tickets you get a $14.99 discount code, which allows you to get the ad version for FREE. If you only have 1 of GSL or GSTL season ticket, then you only get a $9.99 discount code, which lets you get the ad version for $5. I have both, so got the ad version for free.
