KT is sucking at the moment and in 7th place. Woongjin is #1 with Ryu Won as their coach. Team Eight was terrible, but then they got TheWind and Cezanne to help them and they're now #2. This is a move to have an experienced SC2 player teach their players the game and strategies.

Judging by how depressed he's been lately I thought he was thinking of retiring. It's a relief that he managed to win a game for his team in his last showing as a progamer and found a new job.
Ryung really is pulling out all the stops to get every Terran off the team.
Taeja - Liquid Ganzi - Complexity and now has injured wrists that forced him to forfeit GSL Clide - KT Rolster MMA - Thrown in prison, but now seems to be back

TheWind also helped Team 8? That's great to hear
I'm pretty sure there was pictures during the WCS Prelims of TheWind and Cezanne helping a T8 player. Could be wrong, but wouldn't be surprised since TheWind was a great coach for oGs.

SKT1 just needs to hire their own SC2 coach to teach Bisu and Fantasy a thing or two. Especially Bisu.
Damn, he must have gotten some fat paycheck for pretty much giving up his playing career. But I bet being a coach for a team like KT Rolster isn't all that bad. :D
Did Clide play anything this GSTL for SlayerS btw?
SKT1 really needs to find a way to boost their sc2 aswell now.

He was on MBCGame. KT probably offered him a nice salary, he does not win much as a player nowadays.
You know, I believe there was an agreement that Kespa teams wouldn't go after non-Kespa players for a year. I guess hiring non-Kespa coaches is their way around it?
In any case I don't think Clide had much of a playing career left either, so this was a natural move (he was a player-coach on MBCGame too wasn't he?)
Will he still be playing? It would be sad to deprive the world of the best player of all time. But I guess it's a bit poetic that the best sc2 player will be coaching the best bw player.
Was hoping after his win last GSTL he could pull off a resurgence, but it was pretty clear Clide's a bit too old (as in he's hit his peak) and the coaching opportunity at KT was probably more rewarding for him.

KT Rolster acquiring Clide as a coach is something I'd never see coming, really cool news. Hopefully Clide can bring up KT to a level where they can dominate the SPL just like like what happened with T8.
Guess we'll wait for interview but the other hirees have been more of a former contact stuff (ryu won with zero, cezanne with hwaseung guys iirc). But, if liquipedia isn't just trolling me, clide was in fou, white, and n.Die so he can know like every player in the universe from amateur days.
Oh my... Idk how to take this, on one hand I think it's great KT Rolster gets a veteran Terran SC2 player as a coach, but on the other hand SlayerS loses yet another Terran
KT Rolster acquired Clide (Han Jong Gyu) as their coach. In order to improve and aiming for championship, upon requesting team slayers they were able to acquire the coach. clide has experience as coach player in 2007 for mbc progaming team. since starting his starcraft 2 career in 2010 as terran, he has a record of 36w 38l. constantly placing in gsl code s, he is nicknamed "officiary terran" (terran official?). KT official said "clide with experience in both star 1 and 2 as player coach, we needed someone like him to help kt". "we expect good synergy between all the players and staff and bring in good results"
jessica: "coach clide has experienced slump during his stay in slayers. however he was always effortless in the team's practice and showed excellence in leading slayers in gstl semifinals. he has proven his ability as coach and being recognized for his coaching prowess, i'm very happy to see him join kt rolster."
Waking up to some very interesting news! Clide is imho a sick player when he plays his best, if he can translate his tops to other players he'll be a awesome coach!

Stars signed Ryu Won and MMA started slumping
Actually Ryu Won was the terran coach and was always near their terran players in booth between games etc so it might have something to do with him regarding MMA's slumping.

Wait a second, wasn't there someone who said it was forbidden for KeSPA teams for as long as a year to buy GSL players? I guess coaches are excluded in this case.

What's with the hate? There's a difference between officially leaving and joining a team in good terms and leaving team by "retiring" then joining a different team right a way.

He made the statement about having lost interest in the game two days ago, so it's not exactly clear when it happend in relation to his victory last season.

I believe it was a deal between Kespa and the federation of GSL teams, as far as I know SlayerS is not part of the federation.

Good point. Cezanne was also not a part of the federation because he was teamless at the time. Maybe Inca will go to SKT1 and teach Bisu the way of the DT? :p
I have figured it out, this is all an elaborate trick by SKT to ruin KT, KT now has clide and is associated with nestea, soon we will see KT.Sage and KT.Yonghwa then artosis will curse KT and SKT can secure their championships.
Never thought I'd say this, but SlayerS needs to bolster their Terran line. Having MMA, Ryung and PuMa is cool and all but, 1 MLG weekend clash with GSTL could see them without any Terrans to use.
I am happy for Clide but I don't like this trend. It seemed like the Kespa players played in a unique way. With these coaches they will most likely just copy gsl players.
oh, wow good luck to clideburns... kt is a big opportunity, sad to see the perhaps best sc2 pro who never one a tournament leave... i surely enjoyed the tastosis hype xD slayers sems to be having a rough time right now... i wonder if there are major issues in that team.
This sucks. He was such a great player and a nice guy. I remember being able to talk to him every time I saw him, we would chat about sc2 and SlayerS and such. Too bad I won't be able to chat with him again.

I hope they merge the two team leagues... after next season.
Will allow GOM to proceed on its own schedule for a 3rd TL in 2012 while giving KeSPA teams some time to catch up (play one SC2 proleague season for only KeSPA teams) - ACE should still have enough players to field for one more, no?

I highly doubt that. PL is a huge commitment to the team, with multiple round-robin formats. And with all the foreign "week-end" tournaments this becomes tough choice. KeSPA players have a mentality that PL is more prestigious than individual leagues, no matter the prize pools. I don't see that trend in GSL players.

They didn't - he was wrong. I bet that Thewind is working with Nada, and the team they are creating together.
With a coach like CLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE, KT will become the best team in the world in no time.
Good luck to both Clide and team KT, it's kind of sad to see Clide depart from SlayerS as a player, but I'll be looking forward to see KT progress and improve.
I'm starting to think this isn't nearly the end of his career, This just means he'll only be coaching until Kespa allows former GSL players on Kespa teams, then he'll become a player-coach again and play in proleague
Wonder how he will do as a coach. He will benefit the team in allowing them to improve with his game knowledge. He might come back one day and try to play like the wind or he may just stick to coaching full time.
The best starcraft player, who was the strongest for the longest amount of time is now a coach? Clide is at worst high code A and low code S, i can't believe that he would change, but I guess its an honor to be chosen to coach a team that he probably did not make while playing BW.

The opportunity is to good to not take it at his age and current state as a player. He will be 25 years old later this year and he hasn't really been cashing in, both prize money and salary wise, and he will probably never win a championship now. With this offer he will probably have a pretty good salary and if he would stay long enough as a coach at KT Rolster he may open up some kind of job opportunity at KT later on when he is done with Starcraft etc.
clide was still a decent player but him going to KT to get S-class broodwar players that are transitioning is probably going to be more lucrative for him and is a pretty logical for his career.

Sad Clide won't be playing anymore (who knows, maybe he will) but this a great move for him career-wise. He now will have a stable salary and a secure job. Very happy for him. I'm also glad Clide ended on a happy note with that amazing game he played in GSTL last week. It definitely looked like Clide of the old days where he would dominate his opponents.
As always, I will keep my signature as support for him.
Flash is still going to enjoy his Pocari Sweat for a while longer...
But he must be careful not to overdose on the greatest player in the world.
What's funny about that thread is that it mentioned that it wasnt possible for KT players to get worse than jangbi even after giving all their skills away to flash. oh how far we've come in 1 year >_<

That appears to be the case, for now. Even though SlayerS is not part of the Federation of the Korean teams in the GOM leagues, it seems unlikely that KT would break the spirit of the "no player poaching" agreement between KeSPA and the eSF. It's only for a year IIRC (so ~9 months left now), so anything can happen later on.
