Well there seemed to be a lot of interest in the couples league idea that I proposed about a month ago. breath has been kind enough to set up a site to use for this.
So, my boyfriend and I thought it would be fun to sign up for this but it only gives you an option to sign up for yourself under "find a team." How are we supposed to register as a couple?

Why do you insist on insulting fellow pro players? Within the past month or two you insulted MKP calling him a bad player on SOTG. Look at the results from the past year and he has performed significantly better than you have. While not quite on MKP's level, rainbow is a solid player that is arguably better than you are. When are you going to learn to respect your peers?
*On subject, best of luck to this league. If I can convince my girlfriend to play I will be signing up as well :D

Not sure if serious, but, you know he's retired ? Btw Idra wasn't insulting him (or I misunderstood it)
Edit : Idra's favorite team is CJ. After all this years...

Idra has every right to talk shit, and joke around. Why do you have to take everything he says so seriously?
Idra is a great player, who needs to adapt to the new play, but still the best american player out there.
(also, idra won 825$ at WCS 4th place alone, Rainbow won... 125$ in the last 6 months)

Oh shit another player who gets pissed when IdrA says something for comedic value. Calm down and stop trying to start a fight.

Just saying. But back on topic.
Because Rainbow is still playing seriously, he's on and off doing random tourneys. He's in the military IIRC.
The dude won't even have to do anything. Scarlett'll win everything by herself!
Really cool idea btw
Wasn't naniwa and scarlett having babies together? If they whould join this league they whould crush faces and have the best winner interview in SC2 history, period.

RainbOw was a BW progamer for what, like 7-8 years? IdrA 4 ever b-teamer without even winning courage.
Just saying. There is more history in Starcraft than SC2.

The answer is quite obvious. The girl retains all the wins while you get all the losses. You then advance to a "rebound pool" where other broken up couples are and you pick a new date.
Unfortunately, the site isn't exactly built for 2v2 teams, so I still need to figure out the process for registering. Hopefully breath can chime in here with some instructions. Otherwise, I'll get with him after work.
this is such a good idea, any gamer with a girlfriend knows that something like this will usually make her want to play the game/raise interest (above zero haha)

I really disagree. Even after 2 years, my ex wouldn't even play the campaign because she didn't want to embarrass herself. I didn't care, but she did.

Girls are strange. (time to start a girl blog?)
well my girlfriend is competitive but she was apathetic towards sc2 for the longest time even though i play a lot and own a team, but because of this she wants to play. really depends on the personality, for a competitive person i think the trend would align with my example over yours. the difference in her attitude towards sc2 before and after seeing this post is significant.

Well... I'm certainly not going to ask my ex about it, so I guess we'll never find out. GLHF in the league!

A sense of humor will go a long way in life. I'd recommend looking into acquiring one.
heh funny... my ex girlfriend from Seoul introduced me to Brood War. She was a lame 6 pooler though... she beat me every time until I learned to just build a fucking bunker. My wife though hates Starcraft with a passion. Actually she just hates me playing video games. She doesn't want our kid to get "my bad habits" lol...
How do I register as a team? I signed both of us up individually for the league, but I do not see any way to link both of us as a team. Please let me know.

1. Create a team, 2. Sign your girlfriend/boyfriend to your team 3. Sign up the team for the league
Your going to have to un-register as an individual for that to work.

Both mentioned posts make me both scratch my head and laugh at the same time, congratulations.
Also, ST_Waifu would destroy anyone by herself. I can only hope for ST_Waifu and SlayerS_Eve to play together, that would be the greatest SC2 match every played.
I don't want to get your hopes up, but I wouldn't say I'm not serious about trying to get this going. I've mentioned in a blog post that the goal is to have live tournaments, so gamer couples can come together for some fun and competition. I'd love it if the idea takes off and we can have a tourney in the San Francisco area or something that's best for everyone. For right now, I want to get some teams in and registered so I can start some initial brackets. We'll be in a better place to see where we're at once we see the levels of play we have going on.
Oh, and I've posted instructions on how to register for the league on the forums of the site. It's a bit clunky, but it works until we get a better solution.

Dude he's fucking around. I sware somedays i can't tell the difference between this place and reddit. Teamliquid members = supposed to have half a brain, almost...
what are the rules regarding couples? Do they need to live in the same city? same state/province? same country? Do they need to be friends? do they need to be lovers? How would it be known/proven?

seems like this ideas got a really good reception just remember why you started it though and make sure that it doesn't become such a burden or that you spend too much time worrying about how it'll turn out. should be lots of people on TL willing to help if you need it

I'm purposely being pretty loose about this now. I don't think it will be abused at first. Once we start meeting up live, the abuse should really drop off. One idea was that it be a co-ed league that just has to be one male and 1 female. I think that's a good idea to help bring females to the game, but my #1 goal when I thought of this idea was to meet other married couples that play SC. I don't think there are enough of those to run a league, so bf/gf couples are fine, and probably even male/female friends.
I'll start a thread on the league's forums to see everyone's thoughts on this.

Thanks, Denzil. I really do appreciate the kind words. I know it will be difficult, especially because I know nothing about running tournaments/leagues, etc. So I'll definitely need to hit up the community for help from time to time. But over, it's going to be fun for me and everyone involved. That's the main goal.
If this is a serious league, I'm interested in joining in with my boyfriend. I am 400pts Diamond and He is ~1000pts Master. More information about the rules etc. would be nice to have.
Supr, come on in. Our first tournament will be organized as soon as we get enough teams. I think we need 2 more teams, then we're ready to go. The first tournament will be for initial league rankings, and we'll see from there. I'm even going to give casting a shot and stream the tourney! My hopes are that this first tourney well bring attention to the league and get more females/couples into competitive gaming.
