Just a lurker's opinion, but I think these games absolutely should be counted. They're offline, broadcast live and a part of the WCS tournament (demonstrated by the fact that the players participating are more or less committing to play in WCS KR). All conditions required by the rules are fulfilled. As such, taking the results into account isn't a deviation from the original idea.

Hmm, if we do do this, then maybe someone should go back through the books and see if there has ever been a time when like puma was champ and lost in the code a quals...

We don't have to on account of this being WCS (not code A qualifiers). Second, not all the code A qualifiers were cast.

I've just had a look and it doesn't change anything (although there are a couple of nailbiting moments with Curious and Baby both qualifying while UWC).

Whoo, Terminator! Keeping him in my FPL, hope he keeps his title! Or not, I want another Bear.

Team 8 play EG-TL next in Pro League so hopefully one of the EG-TL players can bring it out of the PL. I want to see the UWC at Dreamhack

As long as I'm favorable to discharge Bear from this title (it was becoming realllllly long), I think we'll encounter a big issue with the new WCS. According to Blizzard, each region is equal in terms of prize pool / tournament format, etc. However, korean qualifiers (which is not the tournament itself) are played offline but neither the EU/NA qualifiers nor the first group stage will be.
So, will the first stages of the biggest SC2 tournament in the world be counted out of the UWC processus because they're online even so they are more important than korean code B (and belonging to the same tournament) ?

I just hope that Bear regains his title in the next week or so. I think it'd be absolute greatness and fitting for the UWC.

Well, if Opterwon's rule is there to discount cross-server lag, and other uncertainties that come with online play, then, yes, it's reasonable to discount the online part of WCS. In fact, the online part of WCS is probably going to have all the ills of such online tournaments as TLS and MLG v. Proleague. And it would take away from the legitimacy of UWC (also known as fun), if the award bounces through random games where lag might play a major role.
On the other hand, if we do not allow Code B, despite it being played live and broadcasted because it's a qualifier, then we're also in trouble because we set a precedent that suggests we cannot count code A because it has the same structure as Code B: there is no winning player, it merely determines who is qualified for Code S.

This isn't a problem with the UWC, this is a problem with WCS being thrown together with little preparation and poor structure outside of Korea. I have yet to talk to a single manager or player that feels WCS EU/NA should be online for as long as it is heh.
