Hello everyone! Today, a mini-documentary was posted on START, IGN's premium YouTube channel. The focus of this mini-doc was an introduction and comparison to two of StarCraft 2's most well-known players, Mill.Stephano and White-Ra. START's content is geared towards mainstream gamers, so this introduction to competitive gaming / eSports could make a significant impact on many people who have never seen what an event can be like or what the players and their stories involve.
Here is Part 1 of the mini-doc:

Part 2:

While IPL did not produce this content firsthand, we do have the ability to work with the creators to better show their audience what eSports is really like and what it could mean to people discovering it for the first time.
Please let us know what you think! =)

These are awesome. I think these 2 videos are one of the best Starcraft 2 videos
|
Absolutely fantastic, please keep more stuff like this coming, this is awesome.

IGN's undertaking into eSports has got to be one of the best things to happen to Starcraft 2/the industry as a whole. They've done so much to promote.
|
Wow really nice presentation of starcraft2 for people that arent aware of it!
|
Maria and Kai from DAVIS ARE FAMOUS!!!
|
Great videos, thanks IGN!
|
Really good videos, and for anyone on any level of knowledge of SC/SC2/Esports. Probably one of the most well made peices on SC2 I've seen. Nice job, would love to see more of them in the future!
|
Really well put together. White-ra fighting !! ~~
|
another props to IPL and the creators of these videos, keep up the good work!
|
Very entertaining, well done IPL :D
|
Very entertaining videos, I love the focus on the players rather than on the game, that's a surefire way to bring people in to the community - story is everything!
|
Extremely impressive. I like the way you worked a narrative in about these two players competing at IPL4 and how that fit into the wider SC2 scene.
Makes me recall just how awesome IPL4 was and fuels anticipation about IPL5.
Great production for this video and Kevin Knocke explained SC2 very well and gave accurate summaries of Stephano and White-Ra. Well done to him.

That "special tactics" meme needs to stop. It was funny as hell when Incontrol told that story, and it was even more hilarious when White-ra rolled with it but now it's just painful. Every time there is an interview of WR, every time someone talks about him, someone has to mention "special tactics". And it's always in the sense that White-ra comes up with creative builds, which is contradicting the fact that he said that to describe a 10 gate, zealots-dragoons push he used twice in a row...
Other than that, great videos.

I don't have anything to back this up besides an unsourced trivia on Liquipedia, but I'm fairly certain Stephano was born in Tunisia, not Indonesia like it's said in the video.

Haha, maybe they asked him where he was born and he said "in Tunisia", which was then misinterpreted due to his accent as "Indonesia"? Would be awesome.
BTW great videos, thanks

haha, "sometime shit happen" I love whitera so muchㅋㅋㅋ

Wow, these were amazing
I loved to focus on two top foreignors - while switching back n forth between CatsPajamas, the voiceover and live footage. Great production Good job
I hope alot of people get to see this

These were amazing. This seems like something I would show to someone who doesn't understand any starcraft stuff.
|
These were awesome videos. This is the kind of production we need on all levels and for all tournaments if Sc2 is ever going to come close to mainstream.
|
wow. this is pure awesomenesss.
|
Oh my god, these are so well done! Can't wait for the next IPL now Every major tournament should start to do stuff like this, it's amazing.
|
IPL4 was amazing, I had such a good time there and this totally brings me back (to like 2 months ago...)

These are absolutely outstanding. I will show these two videos to the people who ask me what eSports is and why people play StarCraft.

Totally agree with this, "special tactics" has been overused to the point where it just becomes painful to hear.

Great work, hopefully we will get to see many more of these!

That was really good, I enjoyed it

Amazingly produced content. I love it!
|
WTH. in part 2, at 2:30-2:38, why is White-Ra playing left-handed o_O?
|
Really nice vids! I see myself in the crowd
