I believe there have already been threads touching on the subject, but not one thread with all the information we have about this very exciting opportunity.
After watching the latest SotG I believe the time to make this thread is now.
Facts: - played on SC2 WoL, not HotS (or BW) - 8 Players ("nobody is gonna be disappointed") - one player from every team (not including Air Force Ace - so one team sends 2 players?) - full list announced "very soon" - single elimination (no extended series) - 3 hours on the mainstage + some hours before, which are also broadcasted - free to watch, presumably at 480p
- signing hours, if schedule permits with all of them - i believe, there will also be some sort of a speech by at least Sundance to "demystify" KeSPA
Or switch Fantasy with Jangbi since they said they're sending one player from each team except Ace, so I would expect Bisu/Fantasy or Stork/Jangbi to double up.

i've heard some rumors about Stork not practicing SC2 much. Considering that, I would love to see Bisu/Fantasy. Also hoping to see Soulkey or Zero, for epic glasses.
It'd be interesting to see either Soulkey or Zero come from Stars' since they've been hyped up so much. STX players too, it'd be fun to see Mini but I don't really think he'll come.

Regarding the rumors I can see Soulkey taking it all, he's one of those that's in GM right?

Broadcast is free in 480p
nobody said that yet. The main tournament stream is free on the 480p quality. Nobody said that this specific tournament will be free.

Effort can smash soulkey in a zvz bro...oh wait new game =/...sorry CJ fanboyism showing ^^
I was just thinking, what kind of police will they apply there (Kespa), show best players, maybe some kind of in house tournament, best "named" players, so all those who we want to see, or maybe a bit of both. I am really waiting for attendance list.

I have also heard that Soulkey should be very good at SC2 already. Makes me happy.

I think in the recent SOTG, Lee said that it would be free.

Soulkey's going to fake everyone out, they'll all be like "he's practicing SC2 super hard and is getting really good at it", but instead he's actually spending all his time on BW and will win the OSL
KT: Flash/Stats (= Lizzy in GM?) SKT1: Bisu (Why not? He only has PL afterall^^) CJ: I heard Effort is one of the best in sc2 right now... Woongjin: ZerO/SK STX: Bogus Samsung: Turn (GM) T8: JDJDJDJDJD
(not including Air Force Ace - so one team sends 2 players?)
This isn't really true. MLGLee said they don't know if ACE will send anybody, there might be something about them not being able to travel because of their military commitment. But who knows, maybe KeSPA can make a deal with the airforce to give them a week off to travel...
But it didn't sound like they knew the list of players yet. Mainly because they didn't tease about some big names or anything. They just said every team will send one. But hopefully it will be here very soon.

So that gives us a good idea at who they're looking at.
considering the fact that nobody has been talking about jd's skill in sc2 and jd has seemed pretty emo lately.... i think it is very possible that t8 will send baby

Korean commentary? I wouldn't stand listening to other than koreans or Tasteless casting these players.
Supposedly this is happening at MLG Anaheim this coming June.
Not sure about Korean commentary considering that this is at an MLG, but maybe MLG's deal with KeSPA might bring over some Korean casters. Tastosis is usually a staple at MLGs, but I think Day[9] paired with anyone else, like Husky, can do a pretty good job IMO.
I like how the " non extended serie". MLG having to explain what extended series are to BW Pro, and them going " wtf is this stupid rule" would have been hilarious.

Yeah, because ACE is an alternative military service and it has to be served on their motherland, apparently.
Pretty much all of us agree on the picks (since it has been clarified that each team sends just one representative - and because of ACE, should mean one team sends 2). Basically the only problem is about who to drop from: Stork, Jangbi, Bisu, Fantasy (because only one team will get 2 representatives, most certainly).
My pick is Jangbi, although it's a very very hard pick, but I just can't see how I could drop one of the other three...

and fantasy is on fire atm, whereas jangbi isnt so hot
Exactly my reasoning, but it's still an absurd situation really, because Jangbi, on the other hand, is the reigning OSL champ... As much as I love Calm, maybe they should neglect STX completely in favor of inviting all these 4 guys... I don't know. On the other hand, ignoring a team (not counting ACE who weren't ignored, just couldn't accept) is kind of a dick move, when the fundamental idea in this is each team to send their best player. Tough, tough.
Or maybe they won't send Fantasy, but that's also absurd, since he's statistically the best among the others right now. I don't know, that's why I made a poll.

I bet that, even beeing a show tourney, they will take it serious if anyone show them a previous MLG pics with the crowds. Lets hope that they have time to catch up at least enough to make a show in a month.
The assumption that the best BW player on each team is also the best SC2 player seems flawed. I have a feeling it may not be the crazy good BW guys, but rather the SC2 guys who are best on each team.

Why? No-one cares how good they are at SC2 really, everyone just wants to see their BW heroes. Sending their best SC2 players would kinda defeat the point.
it's gonna suck. They're all going to be terrible compared to the Korean Progamers with so little practice. Sure, long term most can and will be greats, but with so little practice time, they're not going to understand a lot of the game, zergs are going to outright die to 1 and 2 base allins a lot, nothings going to be really refined and a lot of them are going to be doing allins because they're the easiest to refine.
I wish they wouldn't do this. Give the BW pros time to become competitive with the game before you host a tournament

My guess would be that Team8 gets to send two players. First because they are in a kind of odd situation without their own main sponsor and all that and second because obviously Jaedong is a huge icon and both KeSPA and MLG would probably want him to be there, but at the same time we have heard that BaBy is quiet sick at SC2 by now. So by letting Team8 send Jaedong and BaBy could be a good thing for the future of Team8. But you never know.
Team8: Jaedong/BaBy (Reasons stated) KT Rolster: Flash/Lizzy (Flash obviously the biggest starpower and Lizzy because he is GM) SK Telecom T1: Bisu (Don't know his skill, but Bisu being Bisu should be enough reason to get sent) CJ Entus: effort (GM) Woongjin Stars: Soulkey (GM) Samsung Khan: TurN (GM) STX SouL: Haven't heard anything from STX other than that Calm is now Terran. No idea here.

And? They haven't been playing long, they shouldn't be doing proleague in star2 either. It's going to make their BW less refined because they're going to be practicing mostly star2, and they don't have the experience with star2. You're going to see generic builds with probably pretty good execution, but you're not going to see the refinement and understanding that current star2 pros in korea have. I'd rather have a showmatch between 2 really good players or a couple of showmatches.

But that doesn't mean shit right now. If all of a sudden the NBA switched from to basketball to baseketball, that doesn't mean labron james or kobe braynt are going to be the best instantly. They have the best mechanics/best training enviroment, so long term they're going to be among the best, but right now, I think it's going to be horrible compared to GSL.

Like I said, They are going to have great mechanics and be doing a clone of a good player's strategy and a few allins. I think it's a waste of money for kespa/MLG to fly them out for this; people are going to ejaculate into the air because they've heard these guys are legends, but that's the only reason to have these guys here.

Not a waste of money. Introducing legends into the scene will bring in profit eventually. The whole reason to have them here is because they're legends. If you were to fly Michael Jordan or Gordon Hayward overseas to play soccer who would you rather send? Just having Jordan in Europe would make everyone ejaculate into the air.

It was announced that it was going to sell out before the announcement. The games just aren't going to be that good. I think I, and a lot of other people would rather the players actually become competitive before they play a tourney. I don't want to see jaedong bounce out because he doesn't know what to do versus some allin he hasn't seen before because he hasn't played that long. I don't want to see one of the terrans lose a battle in an embarrassing way because they had to make a decision weather to engage or not and they're epecting tanks to actually do a lot of damage. I don't want to see Bisu get 111'd and lose instantly because he's played against that maybe 2 times.
It's going to be disappointing, and a showmatch between MKP and DRG and MMA and Parting or something like that would be so much better (quality wise) and people would still get very excited .

Bisu is definitely the guy to watch play, but you can't go wrong with any of the other players on the list.
To watch any of these legendary players play in real life would be epic no matter how you put it.
^Lol @Grampz, couldn't agree with you anymore. I do feel bad for those newer players in our community that don't appreciate the magnitude of this news.

Give the BW pros time to become competitive with the game before you host a tournament
you know they are playing in Proleague this weekend right?
They've been playing more than they have let on. They wont be that bad either. They play on the korean ladder and a lot of them are high masters. You have to be pretty good to be high masters in Korea. Are they GSL good? No. Thats why they aren't playing in the actual tournament. But for a fun tournament between the BW pros, it should be rather entertaining.
Like I said, They are going to have great mechanics and be doing a clone of a good player's strategy and a few allins. I think it's a waste of money for kespa/MLG to fly them out for this; people are going to ejaculate into the air because they've heard these guys are legends, but that's the only reason to have these guys here.
So Anaheim selling out because of it is a waste of money?
They said it was going to sell out because of all the awesome stuff thats gonna happen at Anaheim, LIKE FLASH PLAYING SC2 IN AMERICA. Its a huge draw.
You are acting like they will have played the game for 2 days before this tournament when they have played the game for months already. Its not like they only play against each other too. they are on the korean ladder. We've already seen Flash beat KawaiiRice and Quantic.Apocalypse. They are better at the game then you are making them out to be.
And we are already gonna see guys like MKP and DRG at Anaheim. Hell we've already seen them play 3 MLG finals this year.
In an interview they said that the players being sent would have to go through a mini qualifying tournament instead of the favorite big names that people hope for.

Why? No-one cares how good they are at SC2 really, everyone just wants to see their BW heroes. Sending their best SC2 players would kinda defeat the point.
I do. I want to see the best BW gamers at SC2 playing well, not someone good at BW flounder through SC2
Then you've got years to wait. There's no way any BW progamer will be as good as current top SC2 pros for a long while. If you wanna see how good they really are, time is the key, you're not gonna see it at this MLG for sure.

That's fair I guess, although people want to see the big names playing. Still, the best BW players will probably be the best at SCII out of their teams anyway, although if Baby went and not Jaedong that'd make me sad

Broadcast is free in 480p
nobody said that yet. The main tournament stream is free on the 480p quality. Nobody said that this specific tournament will be free.
I think in the recent SOTG, Lee said that it would be free.
