The server returns something else than expected for a version number. The format for the version number was originally intentionally left to be quite open. Thus it presumes there is a new version available. In reality there is no new version. When you push the 'download new version' it downloads the data it presumes to contain new version of the tool, but notices that the downloaded content is invalid and discards the data. This only happens if there is certain type of server problem.
Short version: There is no new version --> when the button is pushed it tries to download new version, but discards the received data.

Will hopefully release new DB file in couple of hours. First I have to do my 'prevent MMR decay' games with each of my accounts and then do little stress testing if the web profile data is stable for all servers. They also seem to have slightly changed memory addresses so will recheck those too.
Edit: And fell a sleep while waiting for the results The web profile data seems to be stable this time. The memory address changes had already happened with patch 2.1.9, but the changes were so slight that the memory reader had managed to read correct data in some cases. For example all my test games after the patch had given correct info. Thus I thought there were no changes...

2015-04-08: DB file (v 21.3) is available. It sets max bonus pools for season lock period and updates memory reader addresses. It requires MANUAL INSTALLATION!
Ladder lock period started 6th of April. This new DB sets maximum bonus pools for the ladder lock period. Also memory reader addresses were updated.
The new DB file requires manual installation and unlocks the data (new good games are possible once again). When new season starts next week a new DB file will be released.
You can download the DB file version 21.3 from: http://www.mediafire.com/download/u3i74d22nycxyg7/bnet_data_21_3.zip
Your current DB file version is shown at the top of the main log of the MMR tool. You can install the new DB by unzipping the downloaded packet to following folder: [PATH_TO]\Sc2gears\User content\Plugin file cache\mmr.plugin.MMRPlugin\
Please note that the Sc2gears should be closed when you install the DB file. -- The final bonus pools for season 21 were:
EU and NA: master+ 2184, diamond- 1267
KR, CN and SEA: master+ 2185, diamond- 1267

Looks like 24 hours of bonus pool was added due to season 2 start being pushed back 24hours.

Apparently it's true. I saw a forum post by a guy who said he had 0 bonus pool as of last night, and 15 bonus pool today. He posted at 00:34 GMT (+00:00) and it's 03:25 GMT (+00:00) now, a time gap wider than the 145 minutes necessary for the bonus pool to increase further, and he's still at 15. It's possible that the issue was fixed but the bonus pool might not have been rolled back (or it may not be spendable, inconclusive because one of the two posters I checked hasn't played since yesterday and another still has a bonus pool of over 800).
The web profiles haven't changed at all though. The first player I looked at still has 0 according to his web profile.

The web profiles haven't changed at all though. The first player I looked at still has 0 according to his web profile. Yes. Indeed they have changed the ladder lock start time retroactively at least for NA server in-game. The ladder lock start time is set individually both in-game and web profiles. It is typical for Blizzard that they forgot to change both at the same time. The added pool is also spendable based on in-game profiles (searched for in-game profiles and found one example: http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/profile/4946890/1/BEansAndRice/ladder/181035 that had spent his full in-game pool of 2210, max pool for web profiles is 2184). Thus the web profiles are suffering from display bug.
However the ladder ending date is set individually too. They could have just changed the end date without tampering the ladder lock start date. But they chose to tamper it and forgot to update the web profiles :/
I will later today release a DB file that locks MMR tool data as the web profile data is incorrect. I will however not check the actual maximum bonus pools for every server via game client.
The old maximum pools for NA were: 2184 for master and higher 1267 for diamond and lower
New maximum pools are: 2210 for master and higher 1282 for diamond and lower.

2015-04-08: DB file (v 21.4) is available. Bnet web profiles are suffering bonus pool display bugs and thus data needs to be locked. DB file requires MANUAL INSTALLATION!
Ladder lock period started 6th of April and everything was fine at first. Then Blizzard decided to postpone new season start, but at the same time they retroactively changed ladder lock date, which caused maximum bonus pool to increase. This would have been fine, but they forgot to change the dates regarding web profiles too. Thus web profiles are suffering from bonus pool display bug (data is incorrect). Thus The new DB file locks new MMR tool data (no good games are possible).
Also after the season has changed on your server a new DB file (v 22.0) should be installed. This future DB file is also listed here. But remember to use v.21.4 before the season change and v 22.0 after the season change.
You can download the DB file version 21.4 from (should be used before season change): http://www.mediafire.com/download/h74mhpgtresp6kk/bnet_data_21_4.zip
You can download the DB file version 22.0 from (should be used after season change): http://www.mediafire.com/download/p5cvtf0pbbvwsq0/bnet_data_22_0.zip
When you restart it, the new file will be loaded (you can check the version number from the main log, note that it will likely say that version checker failed one row later, but that is not serious - it just cannot reach the server to check what is the latest file).

there's a new season that just started like 15 minutes ago. would 21.4 work? or would I have to wait for another DB file update?
|
On April 15 2015 16:28 Liquorshot_852 wrote: there's a new season that just started like 15 minutes ago. would 21.4 work? or would I have to wait for another DB file update? Use DB 22.0 then. Link for it is in previous post. (21.4 if your season has not changed, 22.0 if it has changed).
Also worth noting is that they may have made considerable threshold changes this time (last month changes seemed to be minimal). This mean the graph may become erratic soon (data is locked still, but in few days when web profiles have been updated I will release the lock).

I keep getting "needs a game with better data" It's been like that for all of the games I've been playing. I tried all versions of DB files and it doesn't seem to be working. I am sure my battle.net profile is correct, I just don't know whats wrong with my settings...it just won't let me use the mmrstats at all. any ideas? right now I'm using the 22.0 DB file.
in my plugin file cache folder, there is: bnet.data bnet.data.tmp client.data games_i.data log unranked_backup_i.data
maybe there is something I should delete or am I missing any files?

maybe there is something I should delete or am I missing any files? Data is currently locked. This means no new good calculation results are possible at the moment. But after the web profiles have been updated, I will release a new DB file that releases the lock (after that new calculation results are possible).
The match data from which MMR cannot be calculated can be used as estimate data. This means that if you have 1 or more good calculations, the MMR can be estimated for the estimate matches (the avarage MMR change rate is known).
But even after that the calculations will likely be incorrect for awhile. Blizzard has just potentially made major league offset/threshold changes (for example it seems that MMR for all EU accounts have been reset (but not yet confirmed), which would be a very good thing).
|
Does the maybe or maybe not ladder reset affect the calculation and if yes, does that mean you need a lot (more than usual) data for the next unlocked DB file? I fear that there will be no "good games" possible for a long time ![](/mirror/smilies/frown.gif)
Edit: oh you edited your former post while I wrote this.

DB can be unlocked after the web profiles have been updated to the new season. But the calculation results may be incorrect until the new offsets can be solved (it takes time to collect enough data to solve them). But after the new offsets have been solved, they will be applied to the old data too. And even if the calculation results would be 'incorrect' for awhile, they will be relatively correct inside leagues. E.g. If you are in diamond and you have 3 'good games' against diamond players, then all those 3 results are relatively comparable.
