Can't wait to see how the BW players that are transitioning to SC2 adapt to the game. This should be great!

So true. On my part its more that i love the korean language than hating on our english speaking casters.

I would love it if English casting was on par with the Korean casting but if they want a fully robust service then they should do this. An added benefit of having two Korean leagues now is we will probably start to see stuff like this. OGN and GOM will be competing with each other, and while GOM has been no slouch when it comes to improving this will provide more incentive.

It's time for Teamliquid to change its slogan to "Proffessional StarCraft 2 news" because there won't be anymore proffessional StarCraft 1.

All I can hope for now is that Blizzard makes StarCraft 2 good with Legacy of the void. If they don't make it a good replacement for Brood War (Not the same, but equally good) then StarCraft has been mutilated forever.

Esports will never be legitimate with shit like this. I felt like we actually had a chance with StarCraft. It lasted for so many years, and became deeper the longer time went on, like Chess. Chess now compared to hundreds of years ago is so different. Imagine what StarCraft could have become if it had lasted as long.

But no, we had to change game again. Esports will always be regarded as a fucking joke compared to normal sports, and games like chess, as long as this is the way it operates, and unless StarCraft 2 becomes as good as StarCraft 1 with the last expansion, StarCraft 2 will eventually be replaced by another game as well. Hell, even if it does become good apparently that's not enough, as we saw with StarCraft 1. There will never be a stable esports industry like football or basketball.

starcraft 2 is "the" starcraft from now on ^_^ and is also the synonym of esport. there is a possiblity that sc2 is going to be replaced by something else, but that isn't really a concern atm.

League of Legends and DoTA are also getting to be pretty big pretty fast...

Was writing a very careful and thoughtful comment and then realized this was on the SC2 forum, oh the irony, let's just hope for the best of Esports.

yeah...

SC2 ≠ e-sports
BW + SC 2 + Dota 2 + LoL + HoN + CS + SSF + (...) = e-sports

Why is it hard for some people to understand that? Simple math.

I still doubt that it will become bigger than LoL. It has the potential to, but LoL is just so much more accessible to your average player. LoL probably won't be overtaken until it actually dies out in popularity in general.

We will see. The people that knows this kind of stuff claims that a game can't become longterm (note longterm) successfull unless it has a proper developed market with competent companies that supports it. That it is only "popular" won't be enough in the long term. Will be interesting to see if this will hold true between LoL, highly popular, at least right now, against SC2, not as popular or as high player base but with a far more established market, specially after OGN/Gretech/KESPA/Blizzard now all support SC2.

But KESTA, OGN and Riot also support LoL, so in that sense they are in almost even footing.

What we need to see is if the majority of BW fans/viewers change to SC2 too, only the players is not enough. Let's hope so, that way the Starcraft brand can continue to grow and improve.

Edit: And OGN has Torch and Moletrap, they are casting League of Legends now, but they can easily change to cast SC2.

I'm really sorry but I just can't wait for another MKP vs Parting style disconnect during the finals of a very big event like OGN Finals.

Also I feel we will need Golden Mouse awards and all that jazz since we may see some genius players winning it all

No need to be so aggressive about it, im not flaming anyone, which was the point of my short post, i was writing a longer review on the stuff that mattered to me personally without trying to flame, however since this is on SC2 and not on BW, even that would be considered flaming or trolling on purpose, which is why I just summarized it to "let's hope for the best of Esports", which, in the end, is what matters to me.

Write your opinion. Even if you shit on SC2, input/discussion is always welcome because over passivity makes the forums bland. At the very least it's preferable over subtle insults, which is how I took your comment (maybe that wasn't your intention, I don't know).

As I suspected, GOM will pretty much fill the role of MBC as an opposite to OGN. I hope many good things will come from this and that they will be able to find a good schedule for players to participate in both old and new SC2 tournaments.

Now if only Tastosis could cast both GSL and SC2-OSL...

By then, Blizzard will surely have implemented the technology to restart a game from a replay or maybe auto-save a game during a disconnect.

In BW you can save a multiplayer game. Once saved, you can rejoin it (the game will go to the lobby again where you can simply arrange the teams). Once resumed, the game starts off exactly as it was when saved. I don't know if, if you save a game after a player has left and then rejoin it, whether the game lobby will support both players again though.

(If you were wondering, the reason why game saving isn't used in pro BW was because it was unneeded for the most part due to LAN and because saving the game pauses the game for 2-3 seconds which interrupts the game flow. If there was an auto save on disconnect, that would be different of course.)

Anyway the point is. The technology is there! Somewhere at least. Maybe in HotS it will come.

As a huge Grubby fan and a pretty big Stephano fan, I want nothing more than the BW pros ending foreigner hope for all time. I fully expect the switchover players and teams to elevate the game to a whole new level.

LoL has 15-30 times the playerbase while still not much bigger in the viewership department when comparing its respective large tournaments.

don't know what it means, but take that as whatever you will

So, this is it, the end of an era. Time to see if the infamous "Elephant in the Room" blog will come true.
