Lyn today announced he has left Team Pandarea due to financial and salary problems.
Source (t.qq.com, Chinese) + Show Spoiler +
Brief translation:
I am happy to come to China and join a Chinese team. But there was rumor about my team, Pandarea disbanding, but I haven't get official notice from the team boss, and I signed a 1-year contract, but I haven't received my salary after 6 months. We have been contacting the team boss for a while, with no response yet. I'm very frustrated and disappointed on this situation, and have contacted my lawyer to investigate. Anyway I'm very happy and thankful playing in tournaments for the past 8 months. I will be leaving Team Pandarea today, but will stay in China to participate in more tournaments. Thanks to all friends I've met here, and all my fans.
There is also rumor and drama flying in the Chinese esports scene about former Pandarea manager Efeng trading the team and players without their consent.

Wow...I forgot about Lyn. This isn't another stupid PR thing, right? I hope sooner or later these shiesty teams stop appearing.
|
He 7-0'd his group, hopefully another team makes him a good offer, still, this is incredibly sad. Reminds you how fragile ESPORTS still is.
|
Lyn is smart, taking advantage of the Chinese scene while no other non-Chinese players are doing so, he won that one Chinese league championship for like $23000 or something.
Hopefully he can find a new team over there.

hey who knows it could be an april fools joke....

I dont think so, I heard about a rumor about this like a month ago.
Quite sad for Lyn, I hope a western team picks him up instead.

:/ Hopefully this will be resolved. Fraud managers are literally ruining eSports.
|
gogog Lyn. I hope he finds a new team soon.
|
Weird incident. I expected much more of Pandarea. Lot's of good players are in that team.
Hopefully Lyn can find a new team.

Chinese SC2 esports not looking too good :S

SlayerS_Lyn make it happen!

Team Pandarea PR is now offically screwed lol

All I would hope is that we as a community support the Chinese scene more and find ways to help these teams through times of financial struggle. They can't do it all on their own.

I'd love to see Lyn get picked up by a Korean team, though I highly doubt that's happening. I really liked him and it was sad to see him go from the GSL.
|
Such a waste that Lyn is staying in China he won't be able to keep up with his fellow kor.

Lyn from WC3?? :O Does he still play Warcraft 3?
EDIT: I posted with out adding my question -_-

Is this Lyn the TFT orc Lyn?

Also his girlfriend is Chinese, so that might make moving back to Korea somewhat less likely.

Lyn's staying in China and as far as I know has no intentions of leaving the Chinese scene. He seems to be very taken with the Chinese culture/language outside of gaming; it's kind of funny actually, lol.
Hope things work out for him. :/

Hopefully lyn gets picked up by a foreign team so I can possibly meet him at an event. Too bad he doesn't play zerg anymore though.
On second thought, he should get a bunch of his chinese teammates to join a foreign team as well so we can see more chinese players.
|
Okay, also, someone fact-check me on this because my Chinese is kind of shit, but is Efeng (ex?-manager of PanDa) also transferring to iG?
|
This is a common issue in China. A lot of companies pay late, or sometimes not at all. After 6 months of living in China I am not suprised.
|
gl Lyn, I hope he can continue to play WC3 in China unitl he finds a new team. I'm a bit sad WC3 died off as quick as it did when SC2 got released, at least it's still played in China.

I used to follow a bit of WC 3. WC 3 is dead in China. TH000, the #1-#2 Human player in the world, went teamless and salaryless a few months ago, which goes out to display how fragile a career in eSports is in a developing country.
The eSports scenes that I think are still going well in China are Dota and LoL, Dota being the biggest. Hard to say what the switch to Dota 2 is going to do, however.

He didnt say "shitty" team, he said "shiesty" team.

1. shiest 134 up, 28 down A person who will take advantage and cheat in some situations. Tom double-hits the pipe when no one is looking, that fuckin shiest.
But yeah, I really hope Lyn finds another team fast! He's an extremely talented and dedicated player.

War3 isn't doing well, but RTS as a genre is not doing well in China, and War3 still has a way bigger following than SC2. It is not just War3 squads being dropped anyways, but War3 and SC2 squads. That is why so many of them are going to DotA and not SC2. Also because a lot of them don't enjoy SC2 as much as they enjoy DotA (or in the case of TH000, he only likes War3 and doesn't intend to switch at all). RTS is on its way out in China, imo.

really need Lyn fulltime in SC2, if i remember right guy was a semifinalist in the early gsl seasons.

RTS games are on their way out everywhere. But there is a nostalgia factor with SC that keeps it alive in the West and Korea; no such thing in China.
For the games industry, this is the age of MMOs, MOBAs, and social games.

Since sc2 never was successful I'd rather say it's on an uprise, considering NSL and the recent lifetime subscription option in China (which seems to have recieved positive response from the chinese). But then again, you're right.

@ Azarkon: I would argue that nostalgia is keeping War3 alive in the Chinese tournament scene. I really think this will be its last tournament year, but I won't be surprised if it hangs on for 1-2 more years.

Stuff like this makes it so hard for eSports to break into the mainstream, hoping for the best.
|
I fiind it worrying that the scene is so fickle. WC3 was pretty big, maybe not CS-big or Quake-big but still, how can it just die off so quickly? Quake and CS have been on life support for a while now but they are still around nonetheless.
|
Man I feel bad for Lyn I remember when he was showing the most promise of the former WC3 Top players early on. I really wish a foreign team would pick him up but it seems like he really wants to stay in China so hopefully, either way, he find a new team soon.

Here is a prime example of why the chinese scene is so far behind in SC2.

It's still by far the best genre for spectating, as SC2 has shown; it's just that games like DOTA2/LoL/WoW are better crafted to get people hooked. If HoTS/LotV elevate SC2's gameplay to BW level then it'll easily exceed LoL in terms of spectators.
LoL is still a sub-par game to spectate, people just like to follow a competitive game they play - look at the WoW 'esport', or the CoD scene. RTS is still the only genre that gets people to watch who don't play.
