That's a step forward, but not the big " OMG " thing I expected. :< No, the big thing is that CBS will be selling the ad inventory of MLG and Twitch.tv, who've previously had difficulty selling all of it because the world of advertising is very much an old boy's network. This means that MLG and Twitch are going to have far more stable revenue streams and will be able to do more things with that. Those Twitch ads are also going to improve the revenue for anyone using Twitch: streamers, cups, major tournaments, shows, whatever. Overall this is allowing esports access to the marketing world it has been fighting to gain entry to for a long time. | ||

Basically MLG and Twitch sold ALL their commercial time to CBS for 6 dollars, and CBS will sell it piecemeal for 10 dollars. This is a good thing, since before they were only able to sell 3 dollars worth of their 10 dollars of commercial time because they didn't have the connections or the strong sales infrastructure to sell advertising.. | ||
