It has just been released. The finals of the NASL Season 3 will be taking place in Toronto, Ontario, not Ontario, California. This is the first time a major tournament has come to Canada. For me personally, I haven't been able to travel at all considering my age, and education ties (school ~ sigh~). Having a finals in your own city!? That's simply amazing! Your thoughts?

This should be good though, Canadian starcraft fans are pretty rabid from what i've seen.
In other news, the population of Toronto Canada has recently doubled after the announcement of an E-sports event. lol wish I was in Toronto, looking forward to it anyway!
thats pretty awesome. Canada seems to have a strong fanbase in sc2 and have been dying to get an event. glad to see NASL go up there and give them one.

Sweet, my brother live in Toronto. I can finally go to an sc2 event! ...Please bring an event to Montreal as well! We had a blast with WhiteRa, now we need a full scale event otehr than ets lan!
Just a question: Have the groups/divisions been finalized for Season 3? I saw the divisions on Liquipedia, but they appeared incomplete, and were missing qualified players.
Canada is a GREAT COUNTRY and it is filled with GREAT PEOPLE. Seems obvious that a GREAT LEAGUE should have an EPIC FINALS in such an awesome place! =D
I nearly pooped myself out of excitement. I was at GSL finals in Anaheim and the whole environment was absolutely amazing, can't wait for this! So going!

What would have been even more trollish: If they had produced yet another Ontario out of their hats to hold the finals there.

Yah no kidding. This is pretty big. If NASL sells out and the crowd is loud as heck other leagues will come here for sure. If it disappoints it could mean no one comes back for awhile.
I generally hate living in Canada/being canadian, I can finally cross "no starcraft 2" off the list of reasons why, also meeting white-ra on sunday helped that out quite a bit.
I think I might go and take the drive up from NH, that'd be so cool, and probably the closest to New England SC2 finals will get for a while (Providence was pretty small, probably not happening again D: )
I can't see this event not being packed. We've been starving for something. Hopefully, turnout is good and other tourneys start coming here. I'm looking at you, MLG.
OMG. I've been waiting for so long for the mainstream SC2 E-Sports scene to travel up to Canada for once. To the point of where, I've wanted to try and get a pro tourney running just like TeSPA. This is awesome.

No, such blasphemy! A giant moose will not accompany the stars down the red carpet. This vital ceremonial role is left for the beloved Beaver. Only the Beaver can be honored with such greatness. As with such events, all Canadians must bow down to the Beaver 3 times before the end of the night.

So all player's gonna get a beaver huh?
No one player is worthy of a beaver. There is one beaver for all of the players to share.
I went to the first finals but not the second, figured I'd go to the third to make up for it... but it's on the complete opposite side of the continent
I guess the plus is that for Canadian players who live near toronto/ have connections in toronto. They have a place to stay/ practice that isn't a hotel.
I know since I live so close to toronto. If any of the prime players make it to the round of 16 (provided that they do end up particpating in NASL) They'll be able to spend some time away from the big city.

Given that it will be the first major SC2 live tournament in Toronto and if NASL prices it right, this will draw a much bigger crowd than NASL2 (which was a shame, given the quality of games + setup of the event).
Can't wait, based on how popular the barcrafts are in Toronto, this will be amazing.
I just hope the timing of the event doesn't conflict with major university midterm/exam schedules, which could hurt attendance.

The previous two NASL events were not in LA but Ontario Ca. Ontario is about a 40 minute drive from LA and does not have the large base that you might think.
BAH!!!!!!!!!!!! i was really looking forward to going to NASL again i saw the first but had to miss the second and was hoping to catch the third! well have fun canada, you guys deserve it

You would be incorrect sir.
When huk came to Toronto, 200 rabid fans showed up and got everyone kicked out of the mall. And that's just for Huk.
You have no idea how packed that building is going to be.
I must be in one of the few places that will never have a major tournament in driving or train distance: Hawaii. Anyway, congratulations all your Canadians. I've always enjoyed the NASL and the showings I see from the barcrafts in Canada show you guys definitely earned it.
Smart of NASL to do this. 10 people showed up to the last NASL finals and with canada never getting events, they'll get a good crowd now in toronto instead of risking a repeat of season 2's finals.

Just think about this for a second. Montreal is close enough to travel from and they have the most epic barcraft ever every time I see pictures I bet lots of those guys go.
remembering the last 2 NASL finals this seems like a smart decision. The crowd in LA wasnt that great and from what I see, Canada has very enthusiastic Starcraft Fans (just look at barcrafts) and there are far less offline events compared to the states. I honestly hope this will be succesfull. gl to everybody.
This is one of the best decisions NASL has made in a while, they're gonna be the only major tournament catering to a comunity that's dying to have something like that. Awesome on their part.
NASL S1 final tickets were 25$/person. NASL S2 finals were 50$/person (unless you bought the lesser ticket). So mathemathicly NASL S3 final tickets will be 75$ or 100$.
Or I heard the price pool for S3 is twise as large than for other seasons so according to that logic the tickets might be 150$ or 200$.
Actually Canada dollars are weaker than US dollars so it might even be 250$ per person. GL canada.
confused about the korean part, are the usual koreans from foreign teams like hero, puma, violet, rain, hwangsin etc coming back or does he mean "all" the koreans.
When is it going to be? When will tickets go on sale? The more advance notice, the better. I want to be able to book the following day off work in case NASL3 Finals go really late into the evening.

Serisously though, cant wait.
In 25 years John got a wife. That means that in 50 years John will have two wives, and in 75 years three wives.
This is totally sweet, any guesses where it will be? It would be awesome if they would spring for something downtown, but mostly likely it will be in the convention centre by the airport where they hold AnimeNorth
Tickets will be sold out fast im sure. NASL has had great games for their finals thus far (although it had only been two). Who knows, it might just be a catalyst for more events in Canada.
Can we get confirmation whether or not the finals will be on European monday morning again? I really would like to know before buying this seasons ticket.
Err... this is great but.. I myself live in montreal, and tbh, it is true that there is a big fan base in montreal, but toronto..? Toronto is boring, evevryone goes to bed around 9pm, there is nothing to do there.. we call it: ontario. It is a great city, but not for a starcraft event, thats my opinion. Should definetly have happened in montreal. People from montreal are party animal, evrything is open all night long, could have had great barcraft opportunitys, the night life is much more interesting, and montreal is pretty open minded, not that toronto isnt, but its different.. anyway. I am not gonna drive 6 hours to go to toronto, this city is boring.
Is HuK in the NASL? I'm sorry, I haven't been following.
If he is, I would suggest he burst through the crowd swinging a huge American flag with the Hulk Hogan "I AM A REAL AMERICAN" music playing so that the crowd goes into a mouth-frothing frenzy of hate and confusion.

i live in Toronto and i basically agree. the attendance at Club 1234 earned Montreal its shot as first place in Canada for an eSports event.
Starcraft is not a mainstream event like UFC or even WWE is...
Toronto is good for giant mainstream events where 10s of thousands of lemmings who have no clue pay big dollars to watch what they are told to watch... and cheer when they're told to cheer.

sorry man.. Toronto loves the Hulkster...
before the big Wrestlemania events ever happened... 70,000 people piled into the CNE Stadium to watch The "real American"
Ticket information. NOW. I am ridiculously pumped. Living in Ottawa I feel kind of removed from the larger Esports scene and now I cant let this just walk past me!!!

The solution, then, is obvious: all that needs to happen is for Don Cherry to refer to HuK as a "good Canadian kid" in one of his moronic senile ramblings about how the Leafs would win everything if only they had one more "good Canadian kid".
well... once esports see's what Canadian esports fans are like, there won't be anymore live events in the US. BTW objectively speaking there're a lot sicker fans in MTL but I'm sure we'll all travel to Toronto. I'll go
OH SHIT, time to call my parents, I'm coming home to Toronto >: )
I should drag some friends as well. They don't believe e-sports exists and that no one would pay to watch others play video games. >:O
@West coast Canadians, well uh... Vancouver took Toronto's Olympics! >:O, ... that's all I got But I know how you feel, it's like hearing Ontario and realizing it's in California as noted 38572878 times.
Good to see that canada gets some love, from what I remember from the barcraft shots the crowd is atleast as energetic as the US crowd. Last big esports event in canada that I can remember is MLG Torronto in 2008, so it's about time you guys get another major event :D Also I love the time zone, pretty good for EU viewers as well.
lol wtf, i type in some random keywords into google to look this up, and I got
"Toronto Blizzard NASL". Which sounds relevant but it's the north american soccer league (what the fuck, soccer league? in north america?) and the Toronto team is called blizzard -.-
I wonder when there's gonna be details about seeing this live, like time, purchases and stuff.

Sorry, but this is a load of BS.
The gaming community is huge in Toronto and the surrounding suburbs, primarily because of the huge Asian population and the tech companies that headquartered there. Toronto is a work-hard/play-hard city.
People in Toronto aren't afraid to commute an hour to see something or spend the money to do so, unlike the laissez-faire, bumbling, low-economy Montreal you've described.
I'm not sure what kind of attendance NASL is hoping for, but they'll sell at least 2000 tickets easily.

I dunno what part of Toronto you live in... maybe... Etobicoke, where there is nothing? Downtown Toronto never sleeps. Random festivals/afterparties are happening every week. Gypsy 2am dance parties in the streets!
Let's just hope they hype it up a lot, they didn't hype the NASL season 2 finals and no one showed up. The tournament itself has so much potential to bring in thousands, and since season 2 was a fair improvement in production over season 1 by analyzing their flaws, I'm sure they'll do far better with season 3 in these regards.

Not gonna get there, unfortunately, but this is great nonetheless.

I most definitely will be road tripping this from Moncton, New Brunswick, I hope they deliver :-D. But I'm pretty certain they will... it seems they're doing the right changes to legitimise the Nasl even more, just Bitterdam alone is great, and by the looks of the caster interview video of Mr. Bitter, they're taking care of making the production more dynamic and pro...
I'll be there! Woohoo this is awesome! Last eSports event I went to in Toronto was MLG Toronto years ago, and a couple WCG Canada qualifiers. This is exciting!

You know.. having party animals and crazy wild night isn't all that good. Toronto is great choice as it is the "center" of Ontario and many (tons) people will be able to attend. Having good night life does not equal to good event.

Seriously though, absence makes the heart grow fonder. Grew up in the suburbs north of Toronto, and now live and Vancouver. And honestly, Toronto is great. It's a huge metropolis with major sports teams, and a huge, well-funded arts and culture community. Vancouver and Montreal are cute and all, but it makes most other cities look like in North America (aside from Chicago, LA, New York) look like small potatoes.
You might think Montreal is more exciting, but honestly it's because you live in Toronto. Grass always seems greener somewhere else.

This has to be one of the funniest posts I have ever read.
lol, a TO vs. MTL debate. Had to expect that one. Fact of the matter is, Montreal is pretty groovy. I've lived there and plan maybe on moving back soon. But Toronto is an option also. Both cities got some pretty sweet things going for them. It all depends on what you like with your big city life. People should just be happy that we canadians got our SC2 event, should show the world that we, as part of the SC2 community, love the game, and that we appreciate the NASL thinking about us. That said, instead of the bickering, we should just rock the crap out of TO when the finals come here. No riots please, lol.

Guys shut up with the Montreal vs. Toronto debate.
Both cities are awesome and have their bonuses. I agree Montreal's night life is better. But does that make Toronto's night life shit? No. You can find places to party in Toronto til 6 am if you really wanted to. There are a few afterhours clubs you can go to. And besides, you could always make a trip to Niagara Falls (1.5 hour drive from downtown Toronto... hell 100% of the time I am willing to go to Niagara late at night to gamble/party... so I'd take you).
Just be happy we are going to have a huge SC2 event up in Canada. Hopefully others will see how awesome it is and host stuff up here more often. I encourage anyone within a few hours of Toronto to make the trip.
Accomodations are easy to find since it's the summer time. Take a look at UofT residences. They are mostly empty and willing to do large group rates. I think I still know some people there and can help you guys check availability/book.
Anyways, let's all rejoice and be happy, friendly Canadians like we were born to be.
For those in the Montreal Vs Toronto debate, I have one thing to say. Ottawa wins
In a more serious note, anyone else think MLG pretty much HAS to be watching this very closely? Thisis a chance to prove that not only does Canada have just as rabid of a fan base as the US for Starcraft 2 but for Esports in general. The league fan base in Ottawa alone is massive, and I for one would absolutely LOVE to see the rest of the country turn out for what promises to be one of the highlights in Esports this year.
Cannot believe people are bitching about Toronto vs Montreal...
lived in Toronto most of my life, yet I love Montreal, I love french language.....both places would be great to host NASL finals. People who are implying that toronto doesn't have a night life are being childish. No city that size has "nothing to do at night"
I agree that Montreal through their barcrafts have shown a huge fanbase for e-sports but Toronto is a very accessible place that is recognizable all throughout Canada. It makes sense to put the first foot forward in Toronto even if those living in Montreal think it to not be the best one.
I also go to school in Hamilton, and between Mcmaster university, and Toronto I've found a huge love for e-sports from both so I am sure the event will succeed....
if this follows with an MLG toronto...or even an MLG montreal I would be SO happy! I would also travel to both!

i think laguage could also be a reason, although im sure they wouldnt ahve any problem setting up in Montreal it jsut seems like less of a headache doing it in TO

I dunno what part of Toronto you live in... maybe... Etobicoke, where there is nothing? Downtown Toronto never sleeps. Random festivals/afterparties are happening every week. Gypsy 2am dance parties in the streets!
downtown Toronto is a small part of the city. relative to Montreal... Toronto is boring. ever been to a hockey, basketball, baseball football game in toronto. its like being in an elevator with 19,000 people.
Ever been to a baseball or basketball game in Montreal? Oh yeah, I forgot -- Montreal has shit-all. Grass always seems greener somewhere else.
i'd rather go to Christie Pitts on a saturday afternoon than the concrete convertible.
i've lived in montreal for 10 years, toronto for 13 years, and chicaago for 1.5 years. montreal is more fun than toronto.
Toronto will always attract the premier sports and entertainment events. There is simply a bigger media market and economy there. Which is why NASL is going there.

if you love canada you'd realize that this debate also makes the country far more interesting.
any idea what venue the event will be held in?
Thank you for posting that awesome NFB video. Too bad the NFB is losing more and more money every year Stupid government
May I just add Ottawa is like that one uncle you only ever see at family get togethers while Edmonton and Calgary are like the cousins you see at weddings and landmark anniversaries in relation to Montreal and Toronto,
For those complaining that it is in Toronto vs. Montreal, you should all just be thankful there is finally an event in Canada. I have been following numerous eSports titles for about 8 years now and is literally a 'once every couple of years' event for us to get a big tournament ANYWHERE in Canada. The best thing everyone can do is support NASL Toronto and make it a huge success. That way other tournament organizers realize Canada is a viable place to host tournaments and we will see big events taking place in places like Montreal & Vancouver in the future!
MLG had hosted two events in Toronto in the past, both of which I've attended, and the spectator attendance was very lackluster. As you can see now, MLG has not been back to Canada. Lets not make this mistake again! Start planning your road trips to Toronto. For those in Southern Ontario, you have no excuse not to be there!

A couple useful facts, since I read all 13 pages and couldn't find the answer:
1) Season 3 starts on April 11th and goes for 8 weeks. Eight weeks after April 11th is June 6th, so we can estimate that the finals will be held in June around that point. I think the finals are after the eight week period, so I'm thinking mid-June (June 15-17 weekend). Source: http://nasl.tv/News/Article/20120329nasl-season-3-details
2) Is HuK going to be in Season 3? He was in Season 2, so I think they're carrying him forward into Season 3 as well. See: http://nasl.tv/Players
The vote for the "final Protoss" in Season 3 has a list of players who from what I can tell aren't in the current player list.

After the finals they have to do the playoff brackets. That'll take another week. And if they do an open bracket like they did the last 2 seasons, that'll be another week. After that there will probably be a week off before the finals are on. You're most likely looking at a very early July finals.
EDIT: For reference, the S2 regular season ended November 13th. The finals were played on the weekend of December 2nd.
We need to advertise this huge, its been awhile since a major tournament came to Canada. Lets have a PACKED event, I believe we can do it, and maple syrup.

itll definently be a week or two after the final day of the tourny to make sure schedules are cleared, venue is booked, people have time to get visas and book plane tickets, get hotel rooms e.t.c

No I'm thinking the 8th is the last day of the *finals*.
Season 1 last year ran from April 12th to July 10th according to Liquipedia and I assume that includes the finals. So there's a chance the weekend of 6th-8th this year is the finals weekend.

I really hope you are both wrong and its the next weekend at least July 13th to 15th. I can't make it on the 6th to 8th. Spoken like a true French Canadian sir. Go Habs!
While I'm sure having such an event in Montreal in July would be amazing (Montreal is wonderful in July), the facts remain
- Toronto is the largest city in Canada (5.377 Million. Montreal = 3.75 Million, Vancouver = 2.197 Million, Ottawa 1.17 Million, Calgary 1.16 Million) - Flights into Toronto are much cheaper than into Canada, and Toronto is a hub for more airlines than Montreal - As a measure of eSports, Toronto has a much stronger fan-base than Montreal
Not sure why you think Toronto is boring. I've been to both Montreal and Toronto several times and enjoy both cities very much. Also, driving 6 hours to Toronto is better than driving dozens of hours to pretty much any other SC2 event.
Oh I forgot the best reason for having it in Toronto instead of Montreal......fewer French Canadians

I agree, poor taste but the whole "people go to bed at 9pm" is equally stupid.
The bottom line is any Canadian should be stoked NASL is coming, because it just means that other organizations will have a benchmark they can look at when they consider where they want to go...
I think people are also being extremely short sighted, logistically planning an event internationally is going to double your headaches, now try to take that to Quebec... things will become even more difficult, there's a reason why those Alienware Arenas and other random online cups often say in the fine print no one from Quebec....
I don't know why anyone from Montreal is complaining. The fact that the NASL finals are here in Toronto makes it (in my estimation) more likely that the MLG in Canada which Sundance talked about will be in Montreal- since I doubt they'd do Toronto twice vs tapping into two separate markets.

We're just fucking around. I don't think anyone is taking the 'debate' that seriously.
A reason for me to give a second thought to nasl! I'm pretty sure we'll respond as a city and make the red carpet WAY less embarrassingly empty as Season 2 finals. We'd love more tournaments here. Although Toronto in July is pretty disgusting. It gets up to 40 degrees and muggy. (that's 105 in American). Hope the visitors still like it!
NASL should have single day pass tickets in addition to multi-day tickets. I would like to come everyday, but friends I'll be bringing may not want to. This is important for people driving some distance (out of town) to get to the event.
On April 06 2012 08:22 JazzJackrabbit wrote: When did Sundance say that about Montreal?
I believe Montreal was one of the cities in a tweet that Sundance made that was just cities around the world. I remember SF, London, Seoul and others were in the tweet. Of course we have no idea what that tweet means so its all just speculation.
I live in montreal myself but if Torontinians can show good support and attendance hopefully tournaments in the future will be more eager to host tournaments in canada.
I've lived in Toronto my whole life and am currently in Etobicoke (west end, near pearson airport). I have thought about this a lot and have made my predictions for the event. NASL knocked it out of the park with this one, just hope they don't shite the bed. GET A BIG VENUE. This will not be the last event in Toronto thats for sure.
My Prediction
The event will be held at the International Centre (TONS of hotels nearby, 10 minute drive from the airport they will 100% fly in to, history of great events hosted there)
There is going to be a MASSIVE turnout
It is going to be the loudest finals you've ever heard

Oh God yes. Not Vancouver, but I know Toronto will do a smashing job and will encourage future organizers to come here (or maybe Montreal first, but here eventually)
IPL Vancouver? MLG?!?!?! <can dream>
Don't worry, we'll do our part drink enough for the entire country
I have it decided i will be going to toronto for the weekend with 4 friends and getting a hotel for the weekend :O i am already exited even though its 3 months away
Fucckkk yeaaa!!!! Haven't been able to make it out to barcrafts yet, but NASL finals I will be there all god damn weekend even if I have to set up a tent outside O.o
The Hypeeeeee!!!!! Spread the word everyone lets make this event a showing for Canadian eSports! Tell friends, everyone, post flyers at Universities, High Schools!
I'll be there, likely with my Brother and nephew - my Nephew (12 years old) is REALLY looking forward to it - he only gets to Watch tourneys via TL when I am over kid-sitting - otherwise it is a SC2 free household.

MTCC for sure would be on the expensive side. Almost no chance it happens there as it's also terribly inconvenient to get there from yyz and whatever hotels are nearby are crazy expensive.
I'm seriously considering coming from the Maritimes for this. If I can convince my fiance that this is more important that anything else this summer I might just make it. If not maybe there will be an event on the east coast and north of the border. I can only hope.

Hey man, I'm pretty sure Porter has a deal on right now for 50% off all their flights for trips before September 4th. They did it to match Westjets deal, which ended a few weeks ago. Their normal prices are higher but at 50% off it should be cheaper than anyone else.
Edit 2!: It says on their website that you have to book by today!
I imagine if this season is done right and there is a big enough place for the finals, they will be the most attended event yet. There are so many Canadians who have a pent up need to go see a live tournament but haven't been able to yet. I know I'll be there.
Not only that, but Toronto is close enough to a lot of the northern and eastern states, so a bunch of Americans could also turn out.
This is amazing! I had to triple check that the post wasn't made on April 1st or trolling... Yet I am still suspicious. I hope this is true, and I'll almost certainly be there!

no need for a toronto barcraft for this event
This is so confusing. I thought it was going to be in the MCC (Metro Convention Centre) in Toronto,Canada.
and the Victory Cafe is such a small venue.
plus usually a finals takes the top 16 and play for about 2-3 days.

So does everyone agree that this is actually a silly way of announcing your grand finals plans? No epic post from NASL, no announcement of an announcement? They couldn't wait until the opening broadcast on 4/11 which may have substantial viewership.

If HuK wins, the f'ing place will erupt
If you host it, they will come
Nailed it. This event is going to be massive. And its 5 minutes from my house. Words cannot describe...

Haha don't feel too bad. I've lived here my whole life too and I only first heard about it a couple years when I started going there for work related events.

You're going to love the outskirts of Mississauga!
I'm staying with my aunt and uncle in York, and I'll be in the area for a few days post NASL probably ;D, definitely gonna hit up Pacific Mall, I <3 that place haha

Pokeman and Taxes? Geez, I can handle both for you NO problem. Shotgun big spoon. =D
I don't really follow the scene anymore, but if this was last year, I'd be there for sure!
I'm a little worried about the location. It is quite a ways from the heart of DT Toronto, and I hope that players and other participants don't leave town with a bad impression.
It's too bad they couldn't have gotten the intercontinental centre on front st.
Anyone that needs a ride hit me up. I am coming from Richmond Hill but can pick you up at Sheppard or Finch. Mississauga's kinda far!
ETA: It's cheaper for me to actually just drive to my house in the north than to get a hotel. If anyone needs a place to stay overnight, I'm willing to accomadate you.
So sick, hopefully this will give me the oppurtunity to meet some like minded people in Toronto ! I just moved here and haven't found any nerds to call homies D: !
Im comming up, if anyone wants a ride or what not im in the kingston area, Would not mind having a place to stay at up there if anyone is offering Cheers

Lol well played
Looking forward to the finals, although I kinda feel like the bracket is somewhat unevenly distributed
Well, now that Alicia and Puzzle are still going its a bit more even. But ya even with them it seems a bit one sided... Oh well I can't fucking wait to see some live sc2 :D :D :D

Man so jealous.. wish this was in Van.. I'd go for sure. Hope it is an epic event and can't wait to hear the crowd when Huk plays, let alone if he wins.
This is the perfect finals. Starts and stops all in one day and does not go into the early morning with its matches. I can watch it and enjoy without having to worry about being tired for work.

Where will you be, I need your autograph for the halls of TL infamy
hahahaha, I'll be in a blue sweater vest on Saturday, I'll look overly dressed!
haha, man I didnt think you would respond that fast knowing you are volunteering/working but I can not doubt your powers.
Do you have an app that rings whenever someone quotes your posts?
Is it secret?
Well, we're wrapping up for the night and they're doing the more technical stuff so I'm of no use. I'm actually sitting at the casters desk tapping away on my keyboard, in front of me: waves and waves of chairs, echoing and chanting Xeris name, waiting for their soul and life to be stolen and kidnapped for his own pleasure.
To my right: abandoned ibuypower computers ready to be touched by professionals of the highest canadian caliber. big names from around Canada will harness their ability to input their mind and strategy into this WCS championships.
It's quiet, the venue is dimmed and the coming storm of fans and excited narrators have already rippled an eerie feeling into my spine. Where I am sitting now, lies the future mass of E-Sports of one country, but the love and joy of an international growing scene.

cant wait to be there with all you montrealers. Gonna be one heck of week-end. Keep up the good work Torte and thanks for your time.
Sooooo excited. I'm staying at the Sheraton hotel, getting there tomorrow evening. I'm going to be dividing my time between NASL and the convention down the street all day, which should be fun. @_@ The afterparty sounds like it'll be a good time. Anyone know if it's casual or fancy or somewhere inbetween?

Grrrr, I'm so jelly of people who can attend >_< It was basically my only opportunity to meet some SC2 pros in my life, and it slips away from my fingers.....
Every single person I was suposed to be going to NASL with has bailed out on me.
While I'm totally a lurker here, it would be great to watch the games with some teamliquid folks. Any chance I can meet some of you fine people at the event?
Can I be a third wheel on the nerd-date? My friend can only make it on the Sunday so I'm flying solo tomorrow. Feels like the first day of high school...
Totally. I just want to meet some people there. All lost souls welcome.
The only thing is I have a pretty important game in my hockey league on Sunday, so I'll have to cut it short on that day (too bad..), but we should definitely meet up.
If you guys want to hang out with some nerd ballers join the z33k crew!
We're going to be grabbing a few drinks at a bar near the airport/convention center tonight. Just shoot me an email (doomsville@z33k.com) and i'll pass over information/contact info.
Side note, if you're in Toronto and lost or need help finding something or what not, send over an email to me. Native Torontonian living here all my life, so I'll find a way to help.

On July 14 2012 08:26 ChuCky.Ca wrote: so any news on the prize pool would be a nice thing to know since it does start tomorrow..?
Pretty sure they announced it on LO3 the other day... I can't remember the numbers off the top of my head, but it was basically the same as all of the other years minus how much ever they paid out for the winners of each bo3.
On July 14 2012 08:26 ChuCky.Ca wrote: so any news on the prize pool would be a nice thing to know since it does start tomorrow..?
IIRC from Lo3, its like this: 1st - $30,000 2nd - $15,000 3rd - $10,000 4th - $5,000
only top 5 get paid for the finals. thats $65,000 of the $100,000. And if I did my math correctly, they gave out $27,000 for all the winners of each bo3 in the regular season. That brings us to $92,000. Russ said on Lo3 that they gave out money for playoff wins and the open tournament, which could make up the rest of the $8,000.
None of the above numbers (other than the $30k for first) are confirmed though. So this could be completely wrong.
Hey I'm a bored nerd, drove up to Mississuaga with a buddy and we're looking for more friends. Shoot me a PM or Text or call me at 276-565-8223 . We'll be at NASL all day tomorrow, the ESC afterparty and hopefully some more fun after.

Don't worry, the crowd impressed everyone and there should be another event of that caliber in a certain future in Canada. There's a lot of talk about it.
