Today we are releasing one of our Starcraft 2 players, the Swede Jeffrey 'SjoW' Brusi. His contract expired and we could not come to an agreement to offer him a new contract.

SjoW was the first addition to our Starcraft 2 squad as he joined us in August 2010. We wish him good luck where ever he might go.

dignitassjow ‏ @dignitassjow
My contract with Team Dignitas has ended and I am now a free agent. Thanks for all the great times

I'm not sure. He's pretty sick. Haven't been hearing all that much from dignitas lately though.

Dignitas' SC lineup doesn't seem to be all that strong anymore, with only SelecT and Bling....It was good with Naniwa in it but yeah he's gone too.

did sjow sign on 'long term' with the rest of dignitas? does this means others are free agents? does this mean sjow is the one who didn't re-sign? interesting.

Interesting . . .

Wonder who didn't resign. I can't see it being Dignitas, Sjow is one of their more well known players. Would love to get more info!

Really? I thought for sure Dignitas would re-sign him. Sure, he hasn't been super huge but really, nobody on dignitas has. (Except for Naniwa and SeleCT)

Liquid :D

Sjow you could always come join Tits Gaming... my team is pretty good, I'll bring my business card to MLG.

note: Tits Gaming is a joke team made by myself, I'm not actually trying to recruit him in a public TL thread. Thanks!

It probably depends on his mindset whether he gets an attractive offer. I think he has a lot of motivational problems so he is somewhat inconsistent even though he should be still one of the best Euros when he plays his a-game. Another thing is if he is interested to go to Korea or plans to stay in Sweden. What speaks for him is that he has a good reputation as a mannered player and he has also shown that he can perform under pressure. The problem though is that I cannot think of an established team that is really in need of him he might be a good fit for Liquid though.

He had a code a seed from a previous season and decided to leave korea, now he has no potential seed so I doubt he has any desire to go to korea.

Is it just me or is dignitas kinda loosing their big names? Bling is pretty much a millenium player given where he lives and select is in korea anyways.

Sjow is a really solid Terran but very rarely seen nowadays. For sure a top european player if practiced.

I could easily see him going to Mouz or even Empire.

Good luck to Sjow,he's my favorite foreigner Terran.I hope he joins a good team, Mousesports would be the most obvious choice but I'd love to see him on Liquid.
Also,I think Dignitas is losing interest in SC2,from the power trio they had only Select remains

called catz crap while speaking to sheth, feels he is too good for him to practice with, loses units due to 0 micro all weekend long at mlg.

add to the fact that dignitas barely gave him 3 sentences in the leaving news, seems like sjow has an overinflated view of his own worth, probably wanted more money ;/

Hope he gets a new team... and I also hope that Dignitas pick up some new players.

no, that would be too easy for you ... you need to follow sc2 more carefully, especially tournaments results

Sjow has won like $44k, he's the 7th best earning foreigner.

Um, quit dribbling garbage, you don't know more then anyone else here.
Your 'knowing' is just an assumption.

Hope Sjow gets picked up by Quantic.

Woaw, they joined in year 201? They probably got good grades in history.

I don't normally ever make these kinds of predictions, but I can sort of see Sjow ending up in Liquid. I noticed based on a number of posts over the years that Nazgul kind of likes him, and he's the sort of non-hyped down-to-earth player that would fit right in, and of course a Terran.

Really weird, unexpected news, Dignitas is losing all of their big name players >< who's next SeleCT? Really hope Sjow finds a new team soon, I'd really, really like him on Liquid because they really fucking need another terran, but I could see him on Quantic too.

Sjow won the IeSF 2011 World Championship last October, and has had solid results in smaller tournaments since.

Hell, his resume is better than 95% of foreigners who call themselves progamers, so please do enlighten us what you mean by the above.

Well, I don't know if it had been already said in this topic, but Millenium is expected to sign a high-profile European Terran player by the end of 2012 first quarter (i.e. by the end of the month). At least, it had been wished by the team's manager from time to time. It may very well be SjoW's destination.

Wow um... absolutely shell shocked as a dignitas fan this is not something I want to hear. At least SeleCT is still with the team and in the US right now about to absolutely wreck people. SeleCT is the next to go, as much as it saddens me to say it, the warning signs are there. If they can't afford Sjow's contract I don't think they will be able to hold onto SeleCT, heres hoping its not financials...

LOL. Bet you're feeling like tool now turdburgler.

Edit: I also think he wouldnt really fit into Liquid, since I dont think they would be willing to pay more for him than Dignitas. Mouz could be a better fit, but they already have their own super stars (morrow, hasuobs etc.). I think he would most probably move to a middle tier team thats looking to expand with bigger names (a team like Empire or mTw).

wounder what team will sign a player like show these days, i cant agree with the ppl above me who said "he gets many offers" i dont think a player who didnt showed many good results in last 12months gets to many offers, pretty sure he must/will take one of his only 1.2 offers.

I think he would fit with Quantic as they are lacking in Terrans a bit I believe. They only have Theognis and Flo I think in the foreign scene.

Dunno why, SjoW has been the best form i've seen him in for a long long time. I think that either he wanted a raise or as mentioned before Dignitas is slowly letting go of the sc2 scene.

Edit: As for teams to join...probably Empire, mouz or Millenium.

Oh no, this makes me sad. He was the first player I really started paying attention to or following.

I've had many good moments and many heartbreaks watching him, I hope he finds a good team (Mouz? :>), as he has some pretty unique talents that I wouldn't want to see lost.

I know he really wanted to go back to Korea, so maybe it could be something like that causing the departure.

He will not join Quantic for sure. Sjow and NaNiwa arent the best of friends from what I understand.

I kind of expected this actually. A great player but just haven't been performing well enough lately I guess. It's all relative as to what he wanted of money for a new contract of course.

I think the reason he didnt resign was because he wanted a progaming house environment to train in and dignitas couldnt provide him this, therefore he left. Will probably end up in either liquid, EG, Millenium, coL or eSahara.

Dang, those have got to be the smallest team and player release statements I've ever seen. Good luck to Sjow in his endeavor to find a new team!

noooooooooooooooooooo

Neither as far as I know.

You guys gotta stop thinking that teams recycle players around the board. Believe it or not, the world doesn't revolve the same players of 2010 or 2011.

While this is true, Players who are top foreigners largely don't remain teamless for a long time.

While I don't think Quantic will take him, Mouz seems like they would be happy to pick him up, plus he knows and gets along with all the players on Mouz afaik. So I think perfect fit for them.

Dunno why, SjoW has been the best form i've seen him in for a long long time. I think that either he wanted a raise or as mentioned before Dignitas is slowly letting go of the sc2 scene.

Edit: As for teams to join...probably Empire, mouz or Millenium.

I wonder when his contract was last renogiated. Presuming it's a year I'd guess he'd have been coming off a very strong performance to take down IEM Kiev and while he's still very good his value has certainly tailed off towards the end of last year (IESF was nice but the field was undoubtedly weak). Might just be a case of Dignitas wanting to offer him less and Sjow not being particularly happy with that.

Probably just talking out of my arse though =p

If you don´t think he has had good results you haven´t followed him in the latest tournaments. It´s not like he crushes everything but he is def top3 Terran in Europe and he has beaten good koreans in online tournaments. At the same time I don´t think he will be joining a "B" team because he is better than merz and he is staying in dignitas it seems. I definently think he is either fed up with sc2 and off to do other things or that he is going to join a team that has a pro house or lets him go to korea,

Personally I am hoping for either mouz, liquid or Quantic.

my 2 cents.

Entirely possible, might be related to the success of BlinG but who knows. Until recently SjoW and SeleCT have been the posterboys for the front of Dignitas SC2 ever since NaNi left imo so it feels very wierd for them to just slam him down.

sjow is one of the most underrated players around.

always does well in tournaments... and don't give me the BS "he didnt do well at MLG"... wtf? he lost to violet and nestea... OMG WHO ARE THOSE NOOBS??!!!! at MLG he also beat haypro 2-0, and then thorzain lost 2-0 to haypro in the consolation bracket...

consistently since the beta sjow has been one of the strongest foreign terrans period.

his micro and macro are sometimes sloppy, but if micro and macro were the only things that mattered then idra would be the best player in the world.

That was appalling.

I say there are 2 obvious options: CoLMVP or Quantic.

there's no way coLMvP is gonna shell out for sjow after just picking up NaDa, Heart, and Killer.
I think Mouz or Millenium will be the team he's go to.

Dignitas still has a decent line up. Not one of the best but still good nonetheless. Killer and Bling will need to step up soon though.

As for teams; wasn't he practicing at the NSH house? Sjow might go to a korean team if possible.

EDIT: nvm it was morrow that was practicing at NSH house

I 100% agree with this, Sjow is awesome, I am actually very very disappointed in Dignitas right now, it may not be their fault, but it sure as hell seems like it. Such a shame Dignitas really can't afford to keep losing these big name players.

Should change the title to Sjow is released by Diginitas.

Not suprised though, he's been slumping hard for a while, and probably wanted a contract that might have been justifiable during his IEM victory days but not now, or something like that.

Lack of results most likely. Not worth the money anymore...said they couldnt "come to an agreement" which means they probably couldnt agree on a salary, as in Sjow wanted more than they were willing to pay, which comes back around to lack of results.

I really hope he finds a new team with good practise partners. Sjow, allthough gone from the limelight for quite a while, has been playing quite a lot recently. Don't doubt his chances to become a top player yet again if he just keeps grinding it out.

I hate it when you don't get to know any why's when players are "let go". Do they feel that SjoW hasn't performed well enough to be part of Dignitas, or could they simply not afford to have another player on the team?

I was going to say he hasn't been showing very good results lately but he's been winning some decent tournaments such as

http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Grubby's_Starcraft_II_Series_Pro_Invitational_4

and he also qualified for

http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/E-Sport_SM/Finals

which has a great prize pool.

Seriously? He is one of the few foreigners who survived the first round of Code A, has had pretty solid and consistent MLG showings. Bomber even said his TvT was Code S caliber.

Sjow deserves a good team because he is a top foreigner with results.

Liquid certainly needs a new Terran, so it's possible. However, we don't know how much money Sjow costs and Liquid doesn't have that many sponsors.

Liquid is very deliberate about how they add players, Zenio being more of an exception than anything. I doubt they'll add Sjow on a whim unless it's something that's been in the works for a while. Of course it could be something along those line since he know TLO and all but I doubt it.

Sjow would fit in well with Empire imo.

Empire can be the "SlayerS" foreign team.

That way I can have all 3 of my favourite Terrans in one team.

Beastyqt
Kas
Happy
Sjow

+ Thorzain would be good too.

That my foreign dream team

EDIT: Forgot to add, Empire won't stoop so low to add another Protoss, they don't want cheap wins
Terran, nerfed since '10. One ability at a time!

So what's up with Dignitas? I was kinda huh when totalbiscuit announced that he's gonna sponsor Bling.

Korean squad maybe? I don't see how they couldn't come to an agreement if he were to stay in Sweden. Considering the reasons Naniwa left Dignitas I don't think it's too far fetched to expect Sjow to at least start playing in Korea.

If you earned that much money outside of winning the GSL you've won quite a number of tournaments. Usually this means you're pretty damn good.

Usually, indeed. The original guy said "if anyone doubts his ability", doubts to what extent? I wont disagree with the fact that he's good, he obviously is. I don't think he's at the ThorZaIN, Kas etc level (the top foreigner level basically). I think he's definitely good enough to fit in Dignitas though. I'd say that they made him an offer but he declined it, maybe it's the other way around, that he believes he's stronger than he actually is ? Just speculation!

Then your argument was horseshit to begin with. SC2earnings also shows where that money came from which taken in combination with the earnings ranking is extremely useful and solid information. If you choose to discard that to make some strawman logical fallacy then that's your own business.

He's just recently been announced as teamless and Thorzain is probably not the one recruiting players for mouz so I don't think it means anything in any direction.

How was his argument horseshit to begin with? He was calling someone out for saying X won a lot of money, must be good! In no way did he say sjow was bad, he was just pointing out that HERP DERP LOTs O MONEY doesn't mean obligatory good. You sir need to calm down when called out.

Hardly. IPL4 will give 100k in prizes, Stephano got like 70 or 80k from IPL3 - MLG was giving 5k per event last season except for the final. Polt got 100k off GSL Super tournament. Prize winnings is a terrible metric for how good someone is.

For reference, sjow is ELO Rank: 51st in TLPD international.

I never said it's useful information, I never said it wasn't solid.

I'm saying that just because you earned more money than other doesn't mean you're better than others. There ARE cases where it's true, MVP and NesTea being a good example. However, there are players who are much better than Sjow who have earned less according to those rankings. An obvious factor being time played, Sjow has been around since the beta. If you're semi-successful it's obvious that you'll earn a decent chunk of money from it. That doesn't mean that he's better than people who are beneath him on that ranking.

Now, I need to ask you again. Which argument are you saying was horseshit? Because I don't really understand what you're calling me out for. Why the hell are you getting touchy haha? Do you actually think that Sjow is skilled due to the fact that he earned alot of money? And what the hell is my "strawman logical fallacy"...?

Can we not agree that our judgement of the player's skill is largely subjective, and therefore moot? regardless he was one of the bigger names in the dignitas line up there is definitely a lot more to this then we have been told seen as we have been told next to nothing.

Oh, and what is MY argument exactly? I was pointing out how bad his argument of "earned alot of money - must be good" was.

So, now please explain to me what my argument was now again?
If you earned that much money outside of winning the GSL you've won quite a number of tournaments. Usually this means you're pretty damn good.

Stephano got 30k from IPL 3. And still has 92k winnings

While I appreciate the sentiment behind the post let's keep facts accurate. Stephano won $30k from IPL 3.

You are indeed correct sir,

However it is a fine measure of how hard working someone is! Sjow has won a large number of small tournaments to get to that ranking. What was stopping any other Pro player from joining the same tournaments (dis-regarding the invite only tournaments) thus deterring Sjow from victory? Sjow clearly wants to win whether the prize pool is big small or virtually non-existant.

Therefore in my eyes. He is a valuable player.

Your first reply was a strawman. You answered in a way that the person you responded to probably didn't mean. Even if he did you filled in the blanks and went off on a tangent. We are talking about Sjow and his accomplishements

Agree'd with poster below me. I was not linking his earnings as some sort of trophy that meant something. But rather as what I'm referring to in this post here.

Then your argument was horseshit to begin with. SC2earnings also shows where that money came from which taken in combination with the earnings ranking is extremely useful and solid information. If you choose to discard that to make some strawman logical fallacy then that's your own business.

EDIT: What Kennigit said above me .

My reply was meant to be elaborated by the reader.

With people like Fruitdealer on a spot like 8 which I pointed out you can draw the conclusion that moneyrankings aren't the best ways to rank player skill, which was my point.

The guy said that if you doubt his ability then look at his money rankings. How the hell am I putting words into his mouth and "going off on a tangent"? If anyone went off on a tangent it's TB rofl.

TotalBiscuit, the original post was relating skill to earnings rank, not where those earnings came from. That is what Sereniity took issue with, and he is right. What are you arguing about?

IPL3 was 30K, IIRC. As I said in my post before that, that is assuming no GSL money (as winning 1 GSL means you get more than any foreigner apart from the top5.)

To directly compare skill prize winnings is quite an awful metric. But if you use it in a reasonable way you can actually show(dohoho) that a player isn't completely worthless.

As for going by TLPD:

By your idea RS_Soulman and DDE are better than players like NaDa, DIMAGA and Kas. Not saying ELO ranking is a pure shit system but it has just as many flaws as it relies on that you play in a lot of tournaments or get a couple of "lucky" wins vs a person in the top of the ELO ranking.

SEA players are the best example of how flawed the ELO ranking system can be at times, imo. Though just like prize winnings it can be used as an argument if used reasonably (for example not screaming "STEPHANO BEST FOREIGNER #1 ELO!!!!!")

This isn't about who has earned the most. This is about some people being silly and putting down SjoW's achievements, implying that he isn't that great of a player. Which is very, very wrong.

So sad T_T! Been playing with SjoW since the day he recommended dignitas to pick me up, just a couple of weeks after he destroyed me at an offline event. We had some sick fun at events and I gained a new friend in SjoW during these past 2 years, really sucks to see him go, and it went fast and sort of unexpected... I wish you GL man, I'll still see you at events, will be weird seeing you in another team though .

I feel this would be a good pick for Liquid. Liquid desperatly needs a Terran players and SjoW is currently on the market. Also SjoW's reputation/mentality would go well in Liquid and he wouldn't be out of place.

In case anyone gave a damn: If SjoW doesn't end up on Liquid I would expect Kas or ThorZaIN to be recruited when their contracts expire.

In case anyone gave a damn: If SjoW doesn't end up on Liquid I would expect Kas or ThorZaIN to be recruited when their contracts expire.

sjow thinks he is worth more than he is. IMO he's not on the level of a kas or thorzain, they would be infinitely better pick ups for any team.

Yeah and FruitDealer is 8th...

Your argument is invalid.

Sjow has won more than one tournament outside the beta, your argument is dogshit. He's actually won a ton of tournaments, as you'd know if you clicked Liquipedia.

Hardly. IPL4 will give 100k in prizes, Stephano got like 70 or 80k from IPL3 - MLG was giving 5k per event last season except for the final. Polt got 100k off GSL Super tournament. Prize winnings is a terrible metric for how good someone is.

For reference, sjow is ELO Rank: 51st in TLPD international.

the tlpd is as misleading as the prize money, for example it doesn't include sjows IeSF win among others.

And 51st ELO rank is still pretty good.
That is 17th best foreigner.

If you'd go by the money ranking, Sjow would be ranked 19th globally.

If you'd go by the ELO ranking Sjow would be ranked 51st globally.

I think Kennigits reference was more to show how big the difference is between the two things - none of them are really good to judge player skill, which the differentials clearly prove.

well the thing is, the ELO system is designed to show objective skill, you cant argue that they are equally bad because money is just a subjective measure. as was pointed out, you can easily find cases of easier matches resulting in more money.

This is obviously huge news for Dignitas. SjoW was one of the faces of the SC2 team along with SeleCt (not to mention the already departed NaNiWa). Will they be able to keep SeleCt on the roster?

Sjow was prob their most clutch player overall i think imo. Even when he was behind in games in tournaments he played in the past year he seemed to pull out unlikely wins which was always fun to watch him.

My first thought was "Quantic!" because they have few good terrans, theogonis and flo basically, but then I remembered liquid, they REALLY need a terran, Jinro's the only one.

nazguel has said he doesnt give a fuck about racial distribution for team liquid so i highly doubt he'd sign sjow just because he is a terran. there would need to be more justification if he does end up getting signed.

Sjow has always been an underrated player (perhaps due to his low APM), and this seems evident by the reactions of some of the posters in this thread. Furthermore, he has been a very consistent player, doing well for a long period of time and surviving many shifts in the metagame.

There is no way he is top 3 Terran in Europe when we have;

Kas
Beastyqt
Thorzain

In my opinion they are the top 3 ^

Followed by;

Jinro

I think Sjow is more along the level of skill such as BratOK, Strelok, Satiini, Cloud,

P.S - One game well you play well and take a win does not mean you are entirely better then your opponent. Reference the Demuslim vs Nestea match as an example. But I will give credibility where it's due, you are only good as your last game.....

SjoW/Beasty/ClouD/Jinro?

hard to say though tbh. SjoW is still a great player and will surely find a nice team.

What are you talking about? He is easily top 3 terran in Europe. Didn´t he 2-0 Kas just recently etc? There are very few terrans who are as smart as SjoW in game.

Those who say he is overrated cannot have watched his recent games.

There is no way he is top 3 Terran in Europe when we have;

Kas
Beastyqt
Thorzain

In my opinion they are the top 3 ^

Followed by;

Jinro

I think Sjow is more along the level of skill such as BratOK, Strelok, Satiini, Cloud,

P.S - One game well you play well and take a win does not mean you are entirely better then your opponent. Reference the Demuslim vs Nestea match as an example. But I will give credibility where it's due, you are only good as your last game.....

hmm...

My ranking would be like

Kas/Thorzain
Happy/Demuslim/BratOK/Strelok
SjoW/Beasty/ClouD/Jinro?

hard to say though tbh. SjoW is still a great player and will surely find a nice team.

You forgot about Select, he's definately Tier 3 if not Tier 2.

but definitely not from Europe

Don't forget that Sjow made it past the first round of code A in November, his TvT is as good as the best foreigners and I'm sure he'll find a team soon. Maybe Quantic to join Naniwa, although I don't know if he really wants to train in Korea.

In all honesty he should join TL. With Jinro slumping for the past 8 months or so and TLO switching to zerg it would be good to enlist a Terran player without such a problem. Plus it could be beneficial to Jinro to have someone to discuss his play with.

That's stupid. Look at his record:

Assembly Winter 2011: Lost to elfi, teaja, won with adelscott. Unimpressive.
IPL TAC: lost to Sase and artist
NASL S2: lost to HwangSin and IdrA
MLG Orlando: lost to SaSe and Polt.
...

or the other way around:

In international tournaments he won with:
sycknesS (MLG Orlando) Bo3
ChAnCe (MLG Providence) Bo3
Slivko (NASTL S1) Bo1
Adelscott (Assembly Winter 2012)

and that's all since Assembly Winter 2012. Definitely Jinro still is unable to figure out his game. Sad, as I would love him to do so.

Overall I agree but when Sjow is at his best he's at the very top level. I don't know if it's motivational reasons or whatever but he's a inconsisten which is why he falls into the latter category.

Oh, and what is MY argument exactly? I was pointing out how bad his argument of "earned alot of money - must be good" was.

If you earned that much money outside of winning the GSL you've won quite a number of tournaments. Usually this means you're pretty damn good.

What?
Stephano got 30k from IPL3. Thats not even close to 80k.
Sjow participated in a lot of event and i think his prize winnings can tell you something about his skill. (his whole winnings don't come from one event).

Sad to see to be honest, since he seems to be a nice guy. But his results have not been the best for quite some time now...
On the other hand, Dignitas should start hiring again, SeleCt is pretty good, Killer is a good Zerg, and Bling up and coming, but I am not sure that´s enough to compete with the likes of Mouz, Empire, EG, Liquid etc...

it's kinda wierd to think that probably a year ago, when i thought of Dignitas, it was the names Naniwa, SelecT and Sjow--
now SelecT is only one of those three guys still with the team =\

He is one of the few foreigners that managed to win in code A.
He has had some pretty dominant wins, first and foremost his IEM-win. But that's a long time ago and he seems to have faded since then, only showing glimpses once in a while.

He was along with Jinro my first favorite player.
I guess I jinxed them both.

Dignitas have most likely noticed that the goalposts have moved a lot in Sc2 since they picked up their core roster over a year ago and much like Fnatic are clearing out players who are in decline and replacing them with players on an upward trend.

Sjow is a solid Terran players but his results in the second half of 2011 weren't anything like as good as his results in early 2011 and 2010.

I think most people wouldn't rank Sjow as being in the top 20 foreign players right now so the chances of him posting major LAN results (like a top 4 IEM or top 8 MLG/DH/IPL) aren't so good with Koreans in attendance.

A lot of it also comes down to how much Sjow was asking for from Dignitas.

Merz and Bischu, merz overall being pretty good aswell and Bischu is a beast in teamleagues it seems, having done all-kills in IPL TAC. Also killer is pretty good. Although, They have dream and tandongho, who I think could really be incredible in the future, those 2 seems somewhat inactive, but they have potential.

When people talk about Sjow not having the best results lately, I think people need to remember that it applies to all foreigners. Once the Koreans entered the scene, only a few players have been able to keep up. Since Naniwa left Dignitas, Sjow has still had the best results out of everyone in the team, even if people may consider Select the better player overall. I have doubt in my mind that Dignitas would have wanted to keep Sjow in their roster.

It must have come down to them not being able to afford him, and other teams probably having better deals.

Are you agreeing with me or disagreeing? Confused... .

your post implies that just counting winnings or just looking at elo are equally bad measures. im pointing out that they are both flawed, but they arent equally flawed. winnings gives much more lopsided results than elo.

for example, nestea has fallen off recently, so maybe you he is 5th in the world in elo (for example), but his winnings will be top 1-2 for years to come as players come and go, based purely on winnings you would say hes 2nd best!

then the other example of winning an mlg after the korean invites, just as hard as any other non code s league, and yet it only rewarded 5k. there were many other leagues with barely any koreans, or second tier koreans, that rewarded more money.

sjow is a good player but he certainly isnt top 20 in the world, top 50 as elo indicates sounds much more reasonable.

Personally I am hoping for either mouz, liquid or Quantic.

my 2 cents.

I don't know about Top 3.... ThorZaIN and Kas are definitely above him, I might actually rate BeastyQT above him tbh.

Even online against the online heroes he did very good. Wasn´t he like rank 1 GM in europe last season? Alsp compare Kas LAN results vs SjoW. It Isn´t even close. Empire has a lot of inet heroes(Happy, Beasty, Kas). Kas has been showing better results nowadays but I doubt Beasty and even Kas even have more wins than losses vs him. If you would go by results(Lan and online) SjoW would ofc be way ahead. Thorzain is prolly 1# in europe thou.

When you watch Sjow he seems slow etc and often can´t handle macro + micro at the same time as other can but when it comes to playing smart there are very few who can match him.

Bottom line: I don´t think he is overrated at all. He can beat the best any day even on LAN unlike the Empire inet heroes. Has Happy won a single game on LAN?

Sjow participated in a lot of event and i think his prize winnings can tell you something about his skill. (his whole winnings don't come from one event).

Pretty much this. If you choose to just look solely at his earnings ranking and not the information that is RIGHT FUCKING THERE ON THE PAGE then your argument is pretty much horseshit. You can't just say "oh well that's all I was talking about!", it's like deliberate sodding ignorance. The guy who originally posted was making the assumption that people wouldn't be dumbasses and actually take into account ALL the information that was right there available, rather than just say "herpderp, fruitdealer is 8th, argument invalid".

People are more interested in being pedantic than having a sensible discussion it seems.

Chill TB, you know this is just a sjow, just take a sjower and relax, we know he's skilled, i'll miss him... I cant live hearing his name without dignitas.

Gunnar Optics needs to form a team with the tag "GUN" and hire only Sjow.

Sounds awesome!

i think this is a case of dignitas not wanting to keep Sjow as much as Sjow thinks hes worth, if you know what i mean. Sjow hasnt done much tournament wise recently and hes not really a big crowd favourite or anything, but saying that dignitas hardly have a roster atm, what is it? select, bicshu, bling and apollo? ^^

he'll find a new team soon, but i cant see it being a big name like mouz or liquid

I'm thinking eSahara too, since Sjow really want a good practice environement (teamhouse) and eSahara has that deal with oGs.

Dignitas has a pretty big roster, consisting of DreAm, Bling, Bischu, Select, Merz, TangDongHo, Killer, and Apollo as teamcoach.

Why the hell are you getting mad over this? Can't you have a sensible discussion without getting mad?

How do you know the guy who originally posted assumed that people wouldn't ignore the rest of the information on the page when all he posted was "He's ranked this high on a money-ranking list, clearly he's good". In that case, when I wrote "FruitDealer is 8th, your argument is invalid" I expected YOU not to be such a dumbass, I rather thought you'd be able to figure out that I meant that money-ranking is a bad way to judge player skill. "Whoa, you couldn't figure that out TB? You're such a dumbass!" Am I doing it right?

If you want someone to understand your point then maybe you should put some thought into your post, "Look here! Sjow is ranked X on the money-ranking list with some really good tournament placements which you can find on THIS page, you shouldn't doubt his ability".

Why should I write a well thought out response to his post if it's so short and non-existent of information? It's like someone writes "Terran OP", would you spend effort responding to that? No. The same way I wont respond with some Einstein shit to a person providing a link to a money-ranking site and writing "he's high on this list, clearly good".

All I said was that with people like FruitDealer on 8th spot money-ranking clearly isn't a good way to judge player skill. If you can't handle me saying that without getting all emotional then too bad for you, keep it classy rofl.

OnTopic: According to that Rakaka article NewmaN from Dignitas said that they would've loved to have SjoW on their team, however he didn't accept their offer and decided to move on.

Problem is, there are a lot more good Koreans than good foreigners, and foreigners are much more expensive in terms of salaries. Guys like Huk are getting paid pretty well according to rumors and hints dropped by insiders when he transferred, while Koreans of comparable talent are making substantially less, if anything.

Damn now SeleCT will really have to carry in teamleagues lol. He had basically more wins then his entire team in ipl tac 2. Without sjow, it will be even harder. They're going to have to pick up some new players. Hoping Sjow gets on a team that fits him.

I don't think dignitas treats their players well/is investing much in sc2.

-players aren't regularly attending tourneys (no dig at some of the later MLG events)
-inc said on sotg they're not getting paid well
-They're roster is getting smaller and smaller in terms of good players, and theirs very little team cohesion.

I always wonder in these cases if it's;

A. Player asks for way to much

I wish more teams would invest in foreign talent though, it makes the scene more sustainable.

no reason you cant do both

Problem is, there are a lot more good Koreans than good foreigners, and foreigners are much more expensive in terms of salaries. Guys like Huk are getting paid pretty well according to rumors and hints dropped by insiders when he transferred, while Koreans of comparable talent are making substantially less, if anything.

do you know how much he is paid ?

Real or troll? 6 figures is pretty crazy...

real, EG's boss alex said that on esports conference.

It comes down to what are you doing now?

It's like Sjow's fallen off the face of the map. Not to mention, his ticks. If I'm a team manager my interest in him would be very low. He had a lot of bad ticks (not scouting, optimal use of hotkeys) but managed to find a way to be successful early on. Not so much right now. Odee decided to step away because Sjow wasn't producing in the now.

Could somebody link to that site with progamer's winnings? I am sure there was a pretty big sum for SjoW, was surprised when I saw.

He did make a grand exit defeating HerO and Zenio....

He is a good player, expect some team to pick him up soon.

Do you have any actual knowledge about Odee stepping away? Because from what he has said in person it was a case of wanting to extend but not being able to come to an agreement and that he was sad to see him go. I mean, that is very much open to interpretation, but I have not seen anything to prove that Odee did not want Sjow for whatever reason, thus I wonder whether such statements are mere conjecture?

He just qualified for the MLG winter arena. He also beat Zenio and Hero in BO3's in his last teamleague match with Dignitas.

Sjow is probably still in the top 5 of foreigner terrans. That's nothing to scoff at.

Aw that's a bummer. I'm not sure why, but I've always really liked Sjow. Best of luck to him!

First of all, I mainly wrote that to get a cheesy "sjow joke" in there and second he's been doing well recently as you would know if you actually followed his results. He's certainly not "fallen of the face of the map." You are deluding yourself if you don't think there are teams that happily would pick him up, it's more a matter of what his own goals are. And if Dignitas wants to get rid of players that are not producing in the now they should cut the majority of their team by that standard.

Kinda fail to pay that much for some1 who's not even top 5 foreign anymore, let alone overall.

Funny how people come in this thread not realising its quite old

Anyway, I can confirm that we did want to re-sign SjoW unfortunately that didn't happen as we were too far from eachother in the negotiations.

We will hopefully be able to announce a terran player that will replace SjoW in the lineup in a not so distant future.

Oh I knew it was old. Just thought perhaps that new information had come out. Thanks for the confirmation, was pretty sure nothing had changed from the initial statements made.

i think foreigners are more marketable thats why. in general, people prefer to watch foreigners winning rather than koreans winning.

Sjow was such a good player, and to be with Select and others on Dignitas was great! Hope he finds a great team, or comes back, as Select was mentioning.

This is probably more deserving of its own thread, but since this one got bumped, Sjow announced on Twitter that he's rejoined Dignitas.

Kinda sad that Dignitas used to be prolly the best foreigner team but most of the talent has left over time. It's probably a salary thing?
