Paid 20$, regret it. -Twitch.tv is still fucking terrible to Europe. They haven't learned from DH Valencia, where the entirety of Europe had to log a US proxy to watch the tournament. Final day was nothing but lag for myself and 2 other UK friends. Not sure how it was to other countries, but I've had complaints from a German and Norwegian friend too. Sort it the fuck out, or swap away from Twitch already. -Observing sucked. Since MLG is flying every goddamned player out even if they don't stand a snowballs chance in hell of winning 1 round, how about MLG flies out some actual proven dedicated observers? Caster's using their >mouse< to zip around the map, tearing the screen to pieces offends my eyes and my 20$ -Production was not worth 20$. 2 people sitting in a small-ass room with no crowd or atmosphere at all was painful to watch. 4 streams is good, but not 20$ good. DH does similar for free. And largely, this will be a forgotten tournament because there are no memorable moments outside of the actual games. -Security, I don't even need to say anything here that everyone under the sun doesn't know already. The fact that anyone with incognitio/cookie-free/adblock could watch for free is hilarious. I don't blame them at all for watching, you guys capitalised on an amateur mistake. The only people majorly boned was the premium payers. Hey Sundance, how about I get next PPV for free like most people did on this one?
Buyer's remorse is reaching critical levels.

I don't know how much 20$ is for people in different country's, but Scandinavian people should have the money for it, regardless of age. 20 is like a big mac menu at mc.
?! A Big Mac is $20???

Defently worth 20$. The amount of games and the players you could see is defently worth it

No way I am ever living in Scandinavia... at my old job... it woujld take me 3 hours of work (after they take out taxes) just to pay for my lunch... If i ate lunch every day of the week i would only be getting paid for like... 3 hours of an 8 hour workday... what is minimum wage in Scandinavia?

Not 100% sure, but something like that, maybe 17-18.

Crazy. A few years ago in the states there was a promo for big macs, I think it was like $3.33 for 2 of them...

Where is the option "I havent paid, I turn stream on at the begining and never get "u have to sub" massage". Thats my case, I was not using any cookie trick, but once It started I just kept watching till the end. Thats was on 3rd day, on sunday tho I did get "hey thank you for watching free, now u have to pay".

Still, I agree with your point. I'd pay 20$ for this event anytime, even if the games would be crappy I'd still support MLG seeing how good they have been and how supportive they are to the community. They handled this whole thing a bit wrongly but everyone makes mistakes, and I believe that if they could do it all over they would do it differently.
Their error is still not enough to not have my support though.
I didn't pay for this event but will today for vods, was out the whole weekend so couldn't watch.
<3 MLG! Keep up the good work.

I didn't watch it, didn't search for ways to go around the ppv too. Reasons: 1 - timezone > CET+2, so the 1st game would begin around midnight. Staying up until 6-7am? Err, no. 2 - production > when I heard there is no audience the 1st thing that came to my mind was "so how is this different than an online tournament?" 3 - 20$ > even if the 1st 2 reasons were gone, this price for wasting your whole weekend watching starcraft (or you don't get your money's worth) seems a bit way over the top. And even then you can't watch all the games, so from the alleged 80+ hours of content, you will watch like... what, 18?hours unspoiled. There are more reasons too, but these 3 are the major ones.

Watched a little on sunday on a restream. Normally i would never watch a restream of anything but since i am a MLG gold member i felt kinda cheated having to pay for one more thing, if they had made it 50% discount i would have considered paying the 10 dollars... i know the 5$ extra doesnt make a big difference but it the principle in the discount is more important than the amount. But since there also were the Asus tournament friday and saturday and the Oscar on sunday i didnt really have time anyway to watch the entire event.

Well, its high price since you earn more. We don't have a minimum wage, we prefer to have a collective agreement between unions and employers as the reference point for wages.
But you don't get any lower than 17$ an hour.

I live in Switzerland, and I got to agree, everytime I got eat something at mcdonald's I end up having to pay 20CHF (roughly 20$) for a big mac meal, and 2 cheeseburgers. Then I cross the boundary (15 minutes away) and I get the same thing for literally half the price (8€ something) in France.

Nobody is going to get their parents to let them pay $20 with their credit card to watch people play a video game, and most young people don't have credit cards. Anyone under 18 or so is basically forced to watch with the bug or watch a restream if they want to enjoy the event, even if they're willing to pay for it. wtf? Kids now a days have more money than ever. All of these kids are playing on computers that they either paid for or their parents bought them. If the kid really wants to watch it and doesn't have money of their own then they can work something out with their parents where they do more chores or something. Also that demographic of kids with no money isn't valuable at all and MLG doesn't miss them much honestly.
Sure they could in theory, but the thing is, if there are like 20 free restreams available and even detailed instructions on how to go around the paywall with 1 single browser extension then 99.9% of them will not bother to "work something out with their parents" just to get stupid looks from them on what they spend their money on. Don't pretend a majority of viewers bothers how they get the content as long as they get it, its the same thing as downloading a movie, a TV series, a game, music, whatever for free. Just because you personally think that its bad and no one should do it and everyone should be ashamed, it doesn't change the fact that a majority has done it in the past or is still doing it.
The facts are that a good portion of the viewership is really young and will probably not appreciate how much work is put into an event like this. Another good portion is just not wlling to pay for anything on the Internet, because you can have everything for free if you want to. And its fine, the MLG staff is not stupid and I'm sure they accounted for the restreams and all that before. Now they have to work out if the event was worth it from a business point of view or if they miscalculated their viewership, and if its not worth it the illegal viewers shot themselves in the foot because there will be no more events like this in the future.
What I heard from the event from people who payed for it was really nice, I personally am the most excited about having a first person view from my favourite players while they play the games, that alone will be a reason for me to buy a ticket for the next event despite the bad time schedule for europeans. I hope they lower the price though, 10 or 15$ seem more reasonable for a 3 (or was it 2?) day event.

Wanted to watch to it , but when i heard is PPV did not bother at all. To bad , i guess the amount of people watching MLG went down to half cause of this. I hope they wont do this again.

Lol @ the people who think MLG is necessary for esports.
Btw, that double elimination only stuff is so unfair that this MLG has NO meaning whatsoever.
