A is so much harder than D. Just because D has Idra makes its the group of death?

It's more DongRaeGu, SuperNoVa and Kas, I think, but imho they are pretty close, maybe a slight edge to Group A.

Id say group C is deceptively deadly. Its not like group A where there is a complete allstar that is going take it (cough MMA), its just that everyone in that group is a badass.

Excited to see how PuMa does in this group as well as Assembly. I have a feeling the podium will be loaded with Koreans much like last years IEM finals. Hope that they announce the tandem of Day9 and Rotterdam again for this event. It was definately one of the wildest events to watch in 2011.

Many of the top swedes are now playing in Korea or are staples of MLG so I think its not that big of a deal.
IMO practicing/competing in Korea > IEM
Its extremely difficult to compete in MLG AND IEM at the same time.

Interested in seeing how PuMa will do considering there is only 2 Protoss in his group, he will probably get like 3rd in his group after DIMAGA and Zenio since 1/1/1 against Zerg is pretty hard to pull off, but PuMa can do it since that's the only strategy he's been using since he started playing, I think he knows how to execute it well enough that he can use it and beat Zergs and Terrans.
If I tell you the truth you'll vie for a lie. If I spilt my guts, it would make a mess we can't clean up. Say you'll never leave me 'cause I need you so much. I can't live with myself so stay with me tonight.

Wow, DRG MMA and MC in separate groups! Awesome!

Also, I predict Idra will continue his 2012 record of 1-18 (games) to 3-28 (games)

Its extremely difficult to compete in MLG AND IEM at the same time.

Sase wasnt competing in MLGs when he atteneded Cologne, SjoW skipped an MLG and went Korea to practice specically for IEM NY, Naniwa had a free schedule up to his Kiev run and last MLG ThorZaIN attended was last spring. Your statement isn¨t really valid in any kind of way, all of them just underperformed badly.

Poor Gatored got a group of mostly PvZ, when his PvT is really what shines.

He should be alright though, Zerg doesn't beat Protoss these days.

PuMa
DIMAGA
FruitDealer
MaNa
Gatored
Zenio

It really isn't, it's more to do with Swedes who qualified for IEM events doing badly (Naniwa out in group stages etc)

How many are advancing from each group? If it is 2 like normal, my predictions are:

Group A: MMA / viOLet
Group B: MC / Nerchio
Group C: PuMa / MaNa
Group D: DRG / SuperNoVa

No, it's just that DongRaeGu and SuperNoVa are better than everyone in Group A put together

DRG and supernova are good... but better then MMA JYP and viOlet put together? lol don't be silly.

Edit: Also I don;t think D can be considered a group of death... Group of death is a group of insane skillledp layers where you have no clue who will advance.. Group D has two CLEAR favourites in DRG and Supernova and therefore imo not a group of death

So the top 3 advance from the groups, and the winner of each group gets a bye directly into the Ro8 as opposed to playing the Ro12.

My guesses?
Group A: MMA violet JYP
Group B: MC, Sound, Nerchio
Group C: Puma, Dimaga, Zenio
Group D: DRG, Supernova, Kas

Not very exciting picks, but I just think the Koreans would be more consistent in their play (except Fruitdealer).

well kas is a beast just been struggling at live events but still has a good shot
feast went 3:0 at his saopaulo grp than loosing the Real as we talk about real he barely lost to supernove 2:3 at the semifinals and also idra cant be counted out as we saw at Guangzhou!

as far as the most unpredictable group is the group of death it should be C allthough it doesnt have the real "heavy weights" but i think its pretty evenin this goup and i expect it to be the closest grp

I actually think these groups are pretty even if you compare them to other tournaments. No one that totally stands out.

IdrA is the least favored in group D. If IdrA (freaking IdrA) is least favored to win a group, that's one hell of a fucking group.

D is a group of death for IdrA lol...

Ha, yeah. I'd say he's the weakest player in that group. Idra is in such a slump ever since IEM China. Feast probably would be the weakest of that group except Idra seems like he's on perma-tilt these days.

Unfortunately I see an all-Korean Top 4.

But the unlikelihood of a good foreigner run makes it all the better if it actually happens.

This is madness I tell you, MADNESS. I'm excited, this tournament is gonna rock, the groups are amazing, we've even got some notable rematches (Idra Kas, Mana Puma, MC Sound) just at the group stages, the final 4 of this promises to be ridiculous.

Very exciting lineups.

MMA clear favorite in group 1 and MC in group 2.

Group 3 is tough, Puma or Dima would be my pick for #1.

Group 4 will almost definitely be Supernova or DRG, I'll take DRG at this second.

Looking forward to this very much.

ummm, curious, can someone tell me how it is a reward to win the group? So, someone wins a group so that player gets a bye into the quarters and his reward in the quarters is to get to play another player that got first in another group? Considering IEM doesn't normally do a backdoor (losers bracket) how exactly is it a good thing to win a group then since it would be harder...
eh?

Wow I am so excited for this event, I actually think an argument can be made that every group is close to the group of death, although Group A I feel MMA, JYP, and Violet will go untouched until they play each other but socke always makes ridiculous comebacks so we'll see. Can't wait >.<

Group A:
JYP will not advance.
Strelok and MMA are more than capable of defeating JYP's PvT. i predict Socke and the nature of European vs Korean PvP knocking JYP out.

Group B:

HasuObs will not advance.
Elfi and MC are PvP gods, and the rest of the group are more than capable of taking him out.

Sound will advance.
He only has two matchups to prepare for, and no one in the group is particularly strong vT except Nerchio.

Group C:

Zenio will advance.
His ZvP is excellent whereas Dimaga has been known to crack under well executed protoss timings.

FruitDealer is the wildcard.
Has he been practicing? Is he taking this seriously? Let's be honest here: no one has seen his games since New York.

Group D (INSANE/Unpredictable):

Why Kas SHOULD advance:
Kas has shown that he is extremely potent in long term macro management games something that SuperNova, IdrA, and DRG all favor vs Terran.

Why IdrA MIGHT not advance:
He has been streaming and playing the Korean ladder so much, it's very likely that ReaL, SuperNova and DRG and their Korean houses are preparing something special for the grack. It's no secret that it's easy to throw IdrA off balance, and having a camera on stream is a good way to tell what builds piss you off.

Oh also: Protoss.
Throw on your favorite jacket and you're good to roll. Stroll through the trees and let your miseries go.

To all of the confused folks: if you win a group you are in the quarterfinal automatically, one playoffs round further than the rest. 2nd/3rd finishers start one round earlier and play each other (cross-group ofc), then play group winners in quarters.

yea, my bad

SuperNova is still Superstrong, he should beat Kas, Zenio does have weak times and stronger times, but I see him advancing now with ZvZ being one of his better matchups.

GA) MMA, Violet, JYP

GB) MC, Sound, Ret (though could be Nerchio)

GC) PuMa, Dimaga, Zenio

GD) DRG, Supernova, Idra

no underdogs but I can't see these guys not advancing. (Love that people are shitting on IdrA when a few months ago he came made top 8 at Providence, and won Gongzhou which last I checked both tournaments had really good players/programmers.) So keep shitting on him guys an let your ignorance run wild cause IdrA is easily one of the top 3 foreigners in the world

30 is a lot. He's probably a top 30 foreigner.

I don't think he's anywhere near top 3, though.

It's free if you're smart. You need to get into CeBIT - there are ways to register for the event online and get tickets for free. Follow @intelem on Twitter to find out. We will support people with the know-how.

That's what i wanted to read!

Anyway, super stacked tournament. Sad i will only be able to watch half of it due to the date it will be on, however i'll be able to watch the last 2-3 days so it should be fine.

D is impressive cause of Kas, DRG, and SN. Hopefully Idra proves me wrong with his performance in this tourney but he just doesn't seem on the level of those 3 as of now. I'd say B is the real group of death though. People are way underestimating elfi, nerchio, sound...and hasu, mc, ret is scary enough.

hm, looks like dimaga could end up as the highest placed non-korean yet again. will be a toss up between him, ret, nerchio, idra and kas. idras zvt should be sick by now so he might win against kas for once but european players will have the advantage of no jetlag so kas will likely still be the favorite in that match.

I haven't seen one tourney last half a year where there werent last minute cancels.
(for example someone getting ill or visas or or or)
There is a good lineup though on the runner up spots :D

As for preplanning a possible visit, would be nice to get the schedule out earlier than usual.
Like, will games only last until 18.00 because then the cebit closes doors?

The thing about group A is that I can only see 2 of those players actually advancing from the tournament, none of the others even have a shot. Even if that technically makes it the hardest group for most of the players, I think that group D has the hardest all around lineup. A few good protoss players, a really good zerg, a decent Zerg (IdrA), and few good - really good terran players. I am definite that DRG is making it out, but other than that I think SuperNova will probably make it out as well. If it's top 3 advance, I'll predict DRG (1st), SuperNova (2nd), Kas 3rd. If top 2, then DRG/SuperNova definitely.

Gonna be an awesome tournament though :D

Group A is most certainly the group with the most skill level. Group D is eye candy with the high caliber players, however I don't think the players in said group can compare the the raw skill DRG brings.

Many of the top swedes are now playing in Korea or are staples of MLG so I think its not that big of a deal.
IMO practicing/competing in Korea > IEM
Its extremely difficult to compete in MLG AND IEM at the same time.

It really isn't, it's more to do with Swedes who qualified for IEM events doing badly (Naniwa out in group stages etc)

Naniwa won his group though, he got knocked out by zenio in the ro8.

For foreigners I only see Ret, Dimaga and maybe Nerchio/HasuObs/Kas getting through to Ro16. I'm thinking Kas might be able to pull something off in group D.

I too anticipate a 0-5 for Idra It's a shame because I'm a fan. Maybe he'll beat Feast.

Yeah Group C is gonna be a brutal slugfest.

Surprised anyone is actually picking IdrA to 0-5.

Also, hoping that the LP bracket is incorrect and that group winners won't be playing each other in the Ro8. Hopefully they take what would be the 1, 2, 3 & 4 seeds in a regular 16 seed bracket.

Group D is definitely the group of death here. While Group A has Violet and MMA, DRG is absolutely on fire and Supernova is right on his heel. MMA is in a slump, and although Violet won Sao, DRG's performance in GSL is just sick. Group A is not far behind D though...

A: MMA, Violet and whoever plays best from the rest (JYP probably, though his PvT might let him down).
B: MC, Ret, Sound/Nerchio.
C: absolutely no damn clue... could be anyone (even though Gatored is by far the underdog)
D: DRG, Kas and probably Supernova. Feast and Real could make it through as well.

So many epic matches already... DRG vs. Kas, Violet vs. MMA, Ret vs. the president...

Why no Stephano, Huk or Naniwa?
The same reason as in IEM San Paolo, and every IEM. There are qualifications, and the players are invited to the finals according to their rating.

you sir are correct. idra means death in zergish.

Idra is infact the weakest of the group. D is the group of death because it has 2 of the top 4 people in the tournament: DRG and Supernova. (The other two being MC and MMA.) The other participants as well are of a higher caliber in group D.

Indeed. Kas is currently way stronger than Idra, and going of current results, I'd put my money on Feast.

Meanwhile, in reality, Naniwa won his group and lost in the quarterfinals against Zenio.

Of course it does that way if he loses the fanboys can blame his group as why he lost . But actually d could be a really exciting group if kas and real bring there A game you could see a really tight race to make the bracket, to me only drg will for certain move on. Also has idra and drg ever played a series?

Very true, I wonder why its not voted second. Then again, every group has between 2/3 players that can win the tournament outright lol.

Will be looking forward to PuMa-Gatored in group C. Eventhough Gatored appears to be quite a weak player compared to the rest of the field his PvT blew me away when I saw it.

Having said that though he didn't quite get a good group; only 1 Terran and one that has an insanely good TvP at that.

In my opinion group A is the easiest for the koreans and to predict. The first three players advance to the ro16, in Group A this will be the 3 Koreans no doubt about that. In Group D every player can end up in the top 3.

no underdogs but I can't see these guys not advancing.

Idra has went 1-18 this year in competitive play, not something a top 3 foreigner does these days. Also at MLG Providence he only won a single match against PuMa I believe and placed 8th because of seeding.

It is interesting how people quickly alternate between overrating and underrating a player. Idra has been playing pretty mediocre, but he has good fundamentals and mechanics, just poor mental strength and inability to adapt. He is definitely not going to lose every game.

well idra has a chance to show if his korean training has made him better. If he does bad then I will stop saying he's a top foreigner. I know everyone says, "he dropped to code B he sucks" but you do realize all the games he played were kinda bullshit all-in games. And people are taking show matches way too seriously. Idra gets hate for the same reason incontrol does, they are fucking popular as shit and people are jealous.

I totally agree with you on that, since in Group C are so many amazing players I think it will be the one with the most exciting matches. I don't expect Idra to perform that well and think DRG will dominate group D just like MMA will do in Group A.
So excited!! :D

Supernova looked pretty weak in the TvZ he played at the last IEM. He should have lost against Slivko and almost lost against Killer before losing 3-1 to violet. And his strengh has always been playing for the super late game with ghost, etc. Something that will be considerably weaker after the patch.

As for the Protoss, if you watch IdrA's stream, he actually wins considerably more games in ZvP than he loses. Including against players like Alicia and IMYonghwa.

All in all the group is pretty good for IdrA, his odds shoudn't be that bad against all the players except DRG. Which wouldn't be the case if he was for example in group A with Violet MMA JYP or group B with MC Nerchio Ret and sound...

Group D barely edges out A... then C then B in terms of stacked groups of death ^^

But holy crap these are going to be epic games :D This tournament excites me :D

great lineup etc, but is it common for tournaments to not release the schedule 3 weeks before the event? how are you supposed to plan your trip to Hanover when you neither know when it will start nor when it will end (beside the day)?

Anyway, _really_ looking forward to this! Gonna be my first time visiting an e-sports tournament and it's in my home country with many of my favourite players.

Winners:

Group A:
(T)MMA
(Z)viOLet
(P)JYP
In that order.

Group B
(P)MC
(Z)Ret
(Z)Nerchio
This feels right to me.

Group C
(T)PuMa
(Z)DIMAGA
(Z)Zenio
Could easily see Mana over Puma, but could also see Puma topping the group.

Group D
(Z)IdrA
(Z)DongRaeGu
(T)SuperNoVa
(T)Kas
(P)Feast

Three of these five. This group SO stacked. DRG will win the group though, he's amazing right now.

It has more to do with DRG being in D along with Supernova. I would say Idra actually lowers the challenge presented by group D.

they might beat him too hard and then get hated on.

either way supernova and drg are definitely favored over idra, although idra's zvz has looked pretty good (convincingly beat losira on stream a couple days ago among others). kas is probably going to beat idra too.

but real and feast are not favored over idra, lol. even with idra's zvp mentality, both of them have HORRIBLE pvz.

i think idra finishes 4th in the group

Maybe this is not really the right place but...

... I got 4 spare E-Tickets for Cebit (business partner invitations), you can choose the date you wanna go yourself + it is also a valid dayticket in all of Hanover's public transport on your day of visit.

If anyone wants one just pm me and give me your full name and E-Mail adress. The ticket comes as .pdf and is only valid if printed in A4 size.
And also just as a tip. There are always tons of free tickets available beforehand, just google and you might find something.

Everyone always pities Greg - his personality keeps him "relevant" but what were his last results [seriously I'm curious]? This is esports where memories of players with very recent success like Leenock and Jjackji are already fading.

I find myself rooting for Gatored out of "nostalgia" too, lol.

Ehm, how exactly is group D ahead of group A in the poll? Group D has 3 good players (DRG, Supernova and Kas). Group A has 4 great koreans and 2 decent non-koreans, both of which are better than Idra, Real and Feast.

It's very very very strange. The only thing I could think of is that people vote D because they are still under the bizarre misconception that Idra has even a tiny bit of skill, which of course he doesn't.

Killer is not korean so that's 3 korean. And violet is probably the only korean to be in the foreign scene (with Select), but yeah he is great. Aside from that Killer is an average zerg, JYP has been overshadowed by many younger players so only MMA can be considered very strong. Strelok has been in a slump lately as are almost every terran in europe who aren't Thorzain or Kas. And Socke while good is nowhere as shiny as ReaL or Feast. I think it covers you question.

Me too. Gatored has taken down so many top Koreans and really deserves much more attention.

He's not going.

Oh, no, come on, one of few American players I'm really interested in and he can't come? T.T

That's so unfortunate, I'd love to see him play again!

What? I can't say I blame him for taking the smarter, stable career path, but his retirement is a huge blow to the foreigner scene. How many foreigners have beaten DRG, 3-0 TOP, and beaten Ganzi? Very few, and now there are even fewer. Just a huge loss, but I cannot blame him on his decision.

There are 0 groups of death. This will be top 3 of each group. Big skill gaps at this event.

Group A:
viOLet
MMA
JYP
-easy for them

Group B
MC
Nerchio
HasuObs
-Sound played really bad at HSC4 and i dont know how i got so far.

Group C
PuMa
DIMAGA
MaNa
-FD and Zenio are inconsistent but can take 2/3 spot also. Hardest group to predict.

Group D
DongRaeGu
SuperNoVa
Kas\Real
-nc

And MC will take whole tournament. Dongraegu/MMA will take 2nd/3rd place.

Well usually it is from 10am to 6 pm local time (CET). I think that has always been the schedule for ESL events at trade shows. I guess it will be similar this time as well. And IEM are always broadcasting a rerun, I am sure they'll stick with that.

P.S.: Maybe that could be added to the op?
Website to order the HD Pass (5€ for the whole event)

P.S.2: I still got 4 Tickets for the cebit to give away for free (the actual event, not the stream). PM with your E-Mail and Full Name will do the trick ;-)

Any info on the times the matches/tournament are taking place?. And the prices? Do you have to pay full CeBit entrance to watch the tourney or is it separate like some other events.

Im planning to go with a friend, me going from Marburg, and he from Köln. The problem is that hostels are all full and Im trying to find a place near Hannover and from 8-9pm onwards, transportation is really shitty around the area.

ps: why extend the tourney so much, 5 days for a 24 player tourney? I know people who are not going just because they dont want to travel 4-5 hours for 2 matches on friday, or 1 on saturday :/

looks like 9am to ~6pm (last game should start at 5) for the group stages on day 1 and 2: http://www.esl-world.net/masters/season6/hanover/sc2/groupstage/results
playoffs, no idea.
but i agree - always hated the IEM schedules, will again for sure NOT go, just cuz its so ridiculous. sooooo many games on day 1 and 2, and since its the finals and we got some pretty amazing players here, we're probably gonna miss a lot of great games. instead we will almost see no games at all on the next 3 days

prices: not announced yet afaik

quite sure that ull have to pay full cebit entrance, but at least this info might be somewhere on the iem page^^

ps: mana (sadly) isnt German @ http://www.teamliquid.net/iem/
pps: 'tournament system' desciption on the official iem page isnt correct for sc2.

Voted D, but it's not as massively stacked as people are making out.

Idra's been in a long slump lately, arguably as has Supernova. I can see clear winners in the other groups.

The problem with IEM is that their events are often at conventions, such as now at CEBIT. This means that the games are all during the day (EU time) on workdays, which makes it hard for working Europeans to watch. For Americans the games will start in the night and end halfway through the workday, which is even less practical.

since they have to run it during cebit opening hours, I guess they will start at 10 or 11 in the morning (cet) and finish when the halls get closed (maybe 8 pm). when you live on the east coast it should start 4 or 5 in the morning and on the west coast it will be 1 or 2 at night.

while the koreans will dominate in groups A, C and D, i think, that group B is the group of death because all of these players are at about the same level and anyone could advance.

This will be a great tourney , i think that Foreigners have a good chance in this one , it has a few Koreans but if DRG and MMA lose early (groups) its possible ! Otherwise its going to be another foreigner tourney with the top all korean.

I would say that one decent showing at HSC IV definitely doesn't suddenly make him more proven in LAN environments than people like Ret who consistently place very highly in tournaments. Nerchio is still not on his level in terms of results in major tournaments, and I would definitely place him as an underdog in a group that includes two people who placed more highly than him in his only successful tournament.

Hey
Just a question. Do they use gold bases on those maps? And is the Antiga cross position only?

I always feel like it is super hard for a toss player to win IEM and I hope they can change the map pool a bit and make it fair for toss.
This time toss has Mc so there is hope but if they use gold bases maps, then it will be extremely hard for Mc to make it happen with MMA and DRG in this tournament.

Iirc Darkforce would replace him, that guy at least would try hard even when he falls behind....

Wouldn't be a TL tournament thread without some good old-fashioned IdrA bashing now, would it?

Once again the group with Idra in it gets the most votes even though it is clearly not the group of death. Idra didn't get the short end of the stick. He wouldn't have made it out of any of them.

Korean players DongRaeGu and FruitDealer had to cancel their participation in the World Championship and will be replaced by DarK.FoRcE and SeleCT.

Looks like Group D just got lost its favorit... But DarKFoRcE will hopefully be a great replacement =)
And FruitDealer... well, kinda sad that he might not see him back, but SeleCT might be in better shape anyways.

Sigh.......... tournament just lost a large chunk of appeal in one bite. No offense to the replacements but they're nowhere near the same calibre.

How is Select nowhere near the caliber of Fruitdealer... and Darkforce isn't that bad either, he often gets some upsetting resuluts vs Koreans (alive, MKP, Ace).

No one is really talking about Fruitdealer, we are talking about DRG. Still, I would have liked to have seen Fruitdealer play again, but he's probably playing LoL or partying.

while I agree that none of them is as good as DRG on the other hand I believe SeleCT is even better than FruitDealer, who is playing LoL anyway ... and DF can surprise like many times before

According to a conversation I had with the MVP head-coach, he might want him around for GSTL.

THIS IS SLIGHTLY WRONG! - DRG wants to play GSTL for his team as it's very important to him. I did NOT want to imply that he was being held back by MVP head-coach!

Darn no DRG , really make IEM WC's appeal fall a lot, especially given DRG's current form. Guess MVP really wants to win the GSTL to participate in IPL!

ESL just announced all casters and streams that will broadcast IEM.

It's... a lot of em :D

I particularly love the fact that grubby seems to cast the event on his stream... That'll be great.

MVP plays OGS March 9th, so that is indeed the reason. With a vegas spot on the line teams can't really afford to be missing their ace during this part of the tournament. Sucks he can't make it though.

I find group D to be the easiest. Maybe DRG was in the initial post, that's the only reason I can see to explain why it is the highest in the group of death vote.

This is important!

What I posted about DRG earlier was slightly wrong. DRG as the captain of MVP WANTS to represent and lead his team in GSTL! I did not mean to imply that he was being held back from IEM by the Coach.

Thank you for reading and I apologize for conveying the wrong message!

So why did people vote group D as group of death? Only because Idra is in it? Fanboys have a lot of power apparently.

With or without DRG in it, the group is easy to predict. With DRG in it, it was DRG + Supernova/Kas, without him in it, it's Supernova + Kas

Idra's probably going to go 1-4 or 0-5, judging by his latest results.

IdrA's group isn't easy but it isn't hard, either. The only player that outclasses him is SuperNova - nobody else is a favorite against a player training like him.

This is really IdrA's group to lose - if he goes out 1-4 or 0-5 then I don't even know what he's doing in Korea.

Kas is an absolute beast, he's probably better than IdrA.

But that was before IdrA went to Korea and started training with the Slayers team. We'll see I guess, IdrA has been disappointing as of late, but he has the conditions for getting out of his group unlike in MLG where he had to play against Oz and then Nestea.

On paper Idra is supposed to be very solid, having years of strong BW and SC2 mechanics and experience, and now training with the Slayers team. Recently though, he plays as if perpetually on tilt, and has shown really poor performances.

I think Kas is currently a stronger player than Idra though. I agree that Idra should be favored against the remainder of his group. I predict that Idra won't get first, but I think he is going to at least survive the groups.

people are forgetting that IdrA's latest opponents were top Korean players ... NesTea, Oz, aLive, TaeJa
this is IEM and whole different story, at Assembly Kas didnt manage to pass the groupstage and at IEM Kiev he lost to DIMAGA ... SuperNova will be the favorite but dont forget that IdrA was practicing for few monts with SlayerS

Why do they always have their tournaments in the middle of the week??? seems like they are cutting tons of viewers just because people have to work.

D was voted group of death by a majority of people because DRG was originally in it. If people will vote group of death now, it will be A for sure.

I'm almost sure no one thinks idra is as strong as he was in the beta anymore

Dutch player ret, who qualified in Sao Paulo, is sick and will not travel to the World Championship. Ukrainian White-Ra will replace him in Group B.
On Saturday the Dutch Zerg player wrote on Twitter that he is "super sick and can't sleep". After no improvement during the night he cancelled his participation in the World Championship today.

Due to the limited time-frame the next four players who were eligible, according to the Season Ranking, were not able to come. These are Koreans RevivaL and TOP, Canadian TT1 and Swedens NaNiwa. White-Ra, who shares the 33rd place with NaNiwa and Pomi agreed to take rets place in the tournament. Russian Pomi was not an option due to the visa he would be needing to enter Germany. The Ukranian will now face the No.1 of the ranking, MC.

Just wondering, have there been so many replacements. Is it just that all these players decided to drop out of the tournament?

I think it is because the qufalification process continiues during the whole season. For Tournaments like Assembly or Dreamhack, everyone is invited or qualified directly. IEM on the other hand, invites where the players, who made the most points in 5 events. It will be difficult to replace Ret, because the guys, who are next in line are mostly located in Korea, America or Russia and they have less than 72 hours to arrive. Maybe Grubby can make it in time.

Could be because DRG, Supernova,Kas, and IdrA are all extreamly good an only group with 4 powerhouses like that. Now with all the drops its Group C thats the hardest but had DRG not dropped out it would've been group D hands down. So stop with the anti fan boyism an call these things down the middle.
